  • General solar street light system needs two separate power supply for charging the battery and driving LED Lamp. In this study, one power supply is used for both charging battery and driving LED lamp. In particular, in order to increase the efficiency of the equipment, (maximum power point tracking: MPPT) was applied which is widely adopted in grid-connected solar systems. LED driver embodied using current control routine of charger into Essential constant current system.

  • A concern about micro grid connection system is elevated. The reason is that carbon dioxide emission is regionally restricted to prevent the drain of fossil fuel, high oil prices and global warming. The existing photovoltaic DC-DC converter is operated by the full-bridge method. However, the configuration is complicated because a phase shift method is required to raise an efficiency. A photovoltaic DC-DC converter connected with second layered half-bridge converter and boost converter is proposed in this paper. This proposed DC-DC converter is easy to control and has an advantage of reducing the size. Finally, the validity of the proposed converter is verified by the experimentation.

  • The microgrid system is the combination of photovoltaic(PV) array, load, and battery energy storage system. The control strategies were defined as multi-modes of operation, including rest operation without use of battery, power charging, and power discharging, which enables grid connected mode or islanded mode. Photovoltaic power is a problem of the uniformity of power quality because the power generated from solar light is very sensitive to variation of insolation and duration of sunshine. As a solution to the above problem, energy storage system(ESS) is considered generally. There fore, in this study, we did basic research activities about optimization method of the amount of energy used, using a smart microgrid test-bed constructed in building. First, we analyzed the daily, monthly and period energy pattern amount of power energy used, and analyzed PV power generation level which is built on the roof. Utilizing building energy pattern analysis data, we was studied an efficient method of employing the ESS about building power consumption pattern and PV generation.

  • In accordance with the policy of local government, the large scale of wind farms have been installed in Jeju power system. However, The intermittent characteristics of wind power output may cause grid voltage and frequency variation, especially in weak power system. One of the solution to solve this problem is installation of Energy storage system (ESS). In this case, the ESS will regulate the active power generated from wind farm to mitigate fluctuation. Actually, the local government of Jeju island constructed ESS connected to Hangwon wind turbine in 2016. From this point, this paper analyzes requirement capacity of ESS to mitigate wind power fluctuation based on measured data from Hangwon wind turbine and ESS. The simulation results will be carried out by Matlab program.

  • Distributed Generators (DG) are rapidly increasing and most of them are interconnected with distribution network to supply power into the network. Therefore, DG may make significant impacts on distribution system operation. protection, and control with respect to the voltage regulation, voltage flicker, harmonics, fault current levels, the losses of the network, etc. These impacts would be demerits for both of DG and distribution networks. And the operation of DG may be influenced by the abnormal grid condition such as disturbances occurred in the neighboring distribution feeders as well as the feeder directly connected with DG. This paper describes the influence of fault occurred in the interconnected power network on the DG operation and the impact of DG on the network load during the interruptions of utility power.

  • In recent years there has been a growing interest in renewable energy systems due to the environmental problem and the economic benefits of fuel savings. Such systems are usually connected to the existing power grid for "fuel displacement" purpose as well as of earning some "capacity credit". Wind power generation system(WPGS) is one of the most useful energy resource using natural environment. So far, it was very difficult to simulate the dispersed generation system including WPGS using EMTP or EMTDC because the source of the dispersed generation system has a particular wind power characteristic equation. In this paper, a novel simulation method of WPGS has proposed and a new wind turbine component for EMTDC is also developed. The wind power characteristic equation of wind turbine is used in order to realize the WPGS in EMTDC simulation. And the real field data of weather conditions is interfaced to EMTDC using Fortran program interface method. Consequently the simulation of WPGS using field data is realized in this paper and shows acceptable results.

  • PV 계통연계형 시스템은 N대의 PV 스트링 Power optimizer와 1대의 인버터로 구성되며 초기 운전 시 인버터 보조전원에 전력을 공급하기 위한 Power optimizer의 DC링크 전압제어 운전 모드가 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 DC링크의 전압제어가 가능한 스트링 Power Optimizer의 start-up 제어기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 제어기법은 추가회로 없이 초기구동 시에 DC-Link의 전압을 서서히 원하는 전압으로 제어할 수 있는 장점을 갖는다. 또한 제안하는 start-up 시퀀스로 제안하는 제어기법을 검증하기 위한 6.25kW 시작품의 시험결과로 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 부하평준화를 통한 전기요금 절감효과, 무효전력 보상을 통한 역률 개선 및 비상부하 전원공급을 위한 독립운전 기능을 갖는 MW급 ESS에서 PCS뿐 아니라 배터리, 변압기, 각종부하 및 디젤발전기 등 계통 내 구성 요소들을 실제 사양 및 데이터를 기반으로 모델링하였다. 또한 1MW PCS를 위한 유 무효전력, CC-CV 충전 및 독립운전 제어알고리즘을 개발하였으며 시뮬레이션 및 축소시험을 통해 본 논문의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • A frequency in electrical power system changes by the load fluctuation in utility grid, has an influence on a connected generator, and ultimately brings a big trouble in the power system. Therefore, a quick measurement of system frequency and governor control of power system is a very important factor in the reliability and the economic feasibility. In this study, An improve algorithm that measures the power system frequency quickly and accurately is suggested, simulated by using Matlab and programmed using C code through DSP6713 KIT. This algorithm is tested to the arbitrary voltage waveform input. The results show that the suggested algorithm is effective in the accurate and quick frequency measurements.

  • In this paper, we modeled the devices used easily in PV system circuits. Simulation tools use PSPICE to enable intuitive electrical circuit simulations. Simulations were also performed on the effects of temperature and spatial radiation that are easy to overlook when using solar cells using modelled libraries. In addition, for full operation of the photovoltaic system, a complete operation system for the DC-DC buck-boost converter and the MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control system was modeled and simulated to confirm good operation. In order to verify the operation of the simulation, we constructed an actual system with the same conditions in the simulation and experimented. As a result, we proposed a single-phase 3 kW grid-connected solar power converter.
