This paper describes the coordinated droop control method for stand-alone type DC micro-grid to improve reliability and utilization of distributed generations and energy storage. The stand-alone type DC micro-grid consists of several distributed generations such as a wind power generation, solar power and micro-turbine, and energy storage. The proposed method which is based on autonomous control method shows high reliability and stability through coordinated droop control of distributed generations and energy storage and also capability of battery management. The operation of stand-alone type DC micro-grid was analyzed using detail simulation model with PSCAD/EMTDC software. Based on simulation results, a hardware simulator was built and tested with commercially available components and performance of system was verified.
We performed experiments to measure a single-phase upward flow in a 5 × 5 rod bundle with spacer grids using a particle image velocimetry, focusing on the crossflow. The Reynolds number based on the hydraulic diameter and the bulk velocity is 10,000. The ratio of pitch between rods and rod diameter is 1.4 and spacer grid is installed periodically. The turbulence in the rod bundle results from the combination of a forced mixing and natural mixing. The forced mixing by the spacer grid persists up to 10Dh from the spacer grid, while the natural mixing is attributed to the crossflow between adjacent subchannels. The combined effects contribute to a sinusoidal distribution of the time-averaged stream-wise velocity along the lateral direction, which is relatively weak right behind the spacer grid as well as in the gap. The streamwise and lateral turbulence intensities are stronger right behind the spacer grid and in the gap. Based on these findings, we newly defined a modified mixing coefficient as the ratio of the lateral turbulence intensity to the time-averaged streamwise velocity, which shows a spatial variation. Finally, we compared the developed model with the measured data, which shows a good agreement with each other.

This study is to develop a grid-based daily runoff model considering seasonal vegetation canopy condition. The model simulates the temporal and spatial variation of runoff components (surface, interflow, and baseflow), evapotranspiration (ET) and soil moisture contents of each grid element. The model is composed of three main modules of runoff, ET, and soil moisture. The total runoff was simulated by using soil water storage capacity of the day, and was allocated by introducing recession curves of each runoff component. The ET was calculated by Penman-Monteith method considering MODIS leaf area index (LAI). The daily soil moisture was routed by soil water balance equation. The model was evaluated for 930 $km^2$ Yongdam watershed. The model uses 1 km spatial data on landuse, soil, boundary, MODIS LAI. The daily weather data was built using IDW method (2000-2008). Model calibration was carried out to compare with the observed streamflow at the watershed outlet. The Nash-Sutcliffe model efficiency was 0.78~0.93. The watershed soil moisture was sensitive to precipitation and soil texture, consequently affected the streamflow, and the evapotranspiration responded to landuse type.

Representative meteorological data of the rural water district, which is the spatial unit of the study, was produced using the grid-based national standard RCP scenario rainfall data provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration. The retrospective reproducibility of the climate model scenario data was analyzed, and the change in climate characteristics in the water district unit for the future period was presented. Finally the data characteristics and differences of each meteorological element according to various spatial resolution conversion and post-processing methods were examined. As a main result, overall, the distribution of average precipitation and R95p of the grid data, has reasonable reproducibility compared to the ASOS observation, but the maximum daily rainfall tends to be distributed low nationwide. The number of rainfall days tends to be higher than the station-based observation, and this is because the grid data is generally calculated using the area average concept of representative rainfall data for each grid. In addition, in the case of coastal regions, there is a problem that administrative districts of islands and rural water districts do not match. and In the case of water districts that include mountainous areas, such as Jeju, there was a large difference in the results depending on whether or not high rainfall in the mountainous areas was reflected. The results of this study are expected to be used as foundation for selecting data processing methods when constructing future meteorological data for rural water districts for future agricutural water management plans and climate change vulnerability assessments.
This paper shows the system of drug classification, the goal of this is to foretell the apt drug for the patients based on their demographic and physiological traits. The dataset consists of various attributes like Age, Sex, BP (Blood Pressure), Cholesterol Level, and Na_to_K (Sodium to Potassium ratio), with the objective to determine the kind of drug being given. The models used in this paper are K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Logistic Regression and Random Forest. Further to fine-tune hyper parameters using 5-fold cross-validation, GridSearchCV was used and each model was trained and tested on the dataset. To assess the performance of each model both with and without hyper parameter tuning evaluation metrics like accuracy, confusion matrices, and classification reports were used and the accuracy of the models without GridSearchCV was 0.7, 0.875, 0.975 and with GridSearchCV was 0.75, 1.0, 0.975. According to GridSearchCV Logistic Regression is the most suitable model for drug classification among the three-model used followed by the K-Nearest Neighbors. Also, Na_to_K is an essential feature in predicting the outcome.

A pressure drop model for the PWR grids with and without mixing device is proposed at single phase based on the fluid mechanistic approach. Total pressure loss is expressed in additive way for form and frictional losses. The general friction factor correlations and form drag coefficients available in the open literatures are used to the model. As the results, the model shows better predictions than the existing ones for the non-mixing grids, and reasonable agreements with the available experimental data for mixing grids. Therefore it is concluded that the proposed model for pressure drop can provide sufficiently good approximation for grid optimization and design calculation in advanced grid development.

Electric vehicles (EV) are emerging as the future transportation vehicle reflecting their potential safe environmental advantages. Vehicle to Grid (V2G) system describes the hybrid system in which the EV can communicate with the utility grid and the energy flows with insignificant effect between the utility grid and the EV. The paper presents an optimal power control and energy management strategy for Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) charging stations using Wind-PV-FC-Battery renewable energy sources. The energy management optimization is structured and solved using Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) to determine and distribute at each time step the charging power among all accessible vehicles. The Model-Based Predictive (MPC) control strategy is used to plan PEV charging energy to increase the utilization of the wind, the FC and solar energy, decrease power taken from the power grid, and fulfil the charging power requirement of all vehicles. Desired features for EV battery chargers such as the near unity power factor with negligible harmonics for the ac source, well-regulated charging current for the battery, maximum output power, high efficiency, and high reliability are fully confirmed by the proposed solution.
This paper investigated the influence of simple support girds on flow, irrespective of having mixing vanes, in a 1 × 3 array rod bundle by using CFD methodology and the most accurate turbulence model which could reflect the actual physics of the flow was determined. In this context, a CFD model was created simulating the experimental studies on a single-phase flow [1] and the results were compared with the experimental data. In the first part of the study, influence of mesh was examined. Tetra, hybrid and poly type meshes were analyzed and convergence study was carried out on each in order to determine the most appropriate type and density. k - ε Standard and RSM LPS turbulence models were used in this section. In the second part of the study, the most appropriate turbulence model that could reflect the physics of the actual flow was investigated. RANS based turbulence models were examined using the mesh that was determined in the first part. Velocity and turbulence intensity results obtained on the upstream and downstream of the spacer grid at -3dh, +3dh and +40dh locations were compared with the experimental data. In the last section of the study, the behavior of flow through the spacer grid was examined and its prominent aspects were highlighted on the most appropriate turbulence model determined in the second part. Results of the study revealed the importance of mesh type. Hybrid mesh having the largest number of structured elements performed remarkably better than the other two on results. While comparisons of numerical and experimental results showed an overall agreement within all turbulence models, RSM LPS presented better results than the others. Lastly, physical appearance of the flow through spacer grids revealed that springs has more influence on flow than dimples and induces transient flow behaviors. As a result, flow through a simple support grid was examined and the most appropriate turbulence model reflecting the actual physics of the flow was determined.

SVM (Support vector machine) analysis was performed after applying a deep learning technique based on an Inception-based model (GoogLeNet). The accuracy of automatic image classification was analyzed using an SVM with multiple virtual grid sizes. Six classes were selected from a standard land cover map. Cars were added as a separate item to increase the classification accuracy of roads. The virtual grid size was 2-5 m for natural areas, 5-10 m for traffic areas, and 10-15 m for building areas, based on the size of items and the resolution of input images. The results demonstrate that automatic classification accuracy can be increased by adopting an integrated approach that utilizes weighted virtual grid sizes for different classes.

The paper addresses modeling and analysis of a grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system). PSCAD/EMTDC, an industry standard simulation tool for studying the transient behavior of electric power system and apparatus, is used to conduct all aspects of model implementation and to carry out extensive simulation study. This paper is aimed at sharing with the PSCAD/EMTDC user community our user-defined model for PV system applications, which is not yet available as a standard model within PSCAD/EMTDC. An equivalent circuit model of a solar cell has been used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling have been estimated from general specification data of a solar module. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) and its current control scheme have been implemented. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is employed for drawing the maximum available energy from the PV array. Comprehensive simulation results are presented to examine PV array behaviors and PV system control performance in response to irradiation changes. In addition, dynamic responses of PV array and system to network fault conditions are simulated and analysed.
