  • Climate change has recently become a serious global issue, and carbon emissions and energy consumption are increasing, particularly in cities where economic activities and populations are concentrated. Accordingly, various countries worldwide are promoting the Green New Deal and promoting urban-centered climate change response policies with the aim of carbon neutrality. In Korea, following the "smart green city" project that creates a city where humans and the environment coexist, a similar "carbon neutral green city" policy is set to be introduced. Therefore, in this study, implications and directions for the sustainable introduction of the carbon neutral green city policy will be derived by comparing and analyzing the State and Tribal Assistance Grants of the U.S. bipartisan infrastructure law and the smart green city of the Korean new deal.

녹색성장의 성공적 추진을 위한 u-프로젝트 교수·학습 모형 개발 (Development of U-project Teaching-Learning Model for the Successful Green Growth)

  • 본 연구는 인문사회과학을 통합하는 간 학문적 실천적 녹색성장 융합 교육을 효과적으로 실시하기 위하여 u-프로젝트 교수 학습 모형을 개발 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 교사, 예비교사, 중학생을 대상으로 녹색성장에 대한 인식수준 조사, 녹색성장 10대 정책방향과 중등/사범대학 교육과정 간 연관성 분석, 녹색성장 융합교육을 위한 교수 학습 내용요소를 추출하였다. 그리고 녹색성장 u-프로젝트 교수 학습의 핵심활동 요소와 절차를 구안한 후 중등학교 상황에 적용하기 용이하도록 교수 학습의 세부 진행모형을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 모형을 통해 녹색성장의 필요성과 타당성에 대한 이해를 증진시키는 것과 동시에 인문사회과학을 통합하는 간 학문적 실천적 교육이 가능할 것으로 예상된다.

  • The Construction Industry Institute (CII) developed the Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI), as a part of their Front End Planning best practices, which helps project managers assess and measure project scope definition risk elements. U.S. Green Building Council are seeing the benefits of sustainable building and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification by positively impacting life cycle costs, building marketability, and organizational productivity. However, there have been no efforts to integrate these two planning tools in construction industry. By applying a supplemental tool which combines the PDRI with the LEED rating system, construction industry can develop and implement a tailored instrument that leads to total project success in sustainability. The objective of this research is to assemble a new front end planning mechanism for green buildings by incorporating the current PDRI and LEED systems.

  • Recently, urbanization has become a serious issue, as there is imbalance between regions and various environmental problems occur intensively in cities. Therefore, cities all over the world are promoting the Green New Deal and trying to realize carbon neutrality. Accordingly, the European Union is leading the creation of carbon-neutral cities by promoting policies aimed at rapidly realizing carbon neutrality. In Korea, projects such as U-City and Smart City have also been promoted continuously for many years, and recently, the projects Smart Green City and Carbon Neutral Green City have been introduced. Therefore, this study aimed to derive directions and implications for future projects based on policies to address climate change by analyzing the guidelines for the Smart Green City project and the project plans of Gimhae-si and Gangjin-gun, which are the leading projects in the Smart Green City business model and are equipped with an extensive budget.

  • This study reveals the status, perceptions, and future directions associated with green building within construction-related companies. A survey research method was used to capture current experience levels and capabilities of companies with regard to green construction. Expectations and perceptions about the future of the construction industry with regard to green building were obtained from construction-related companies recruiting from the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech from 2006 and 2008. The findings of this study support the growing importance of green building as a component of the whole construction market and provide a benchmark against which to measure future changes in the industry over time.

  • U-City는 신기술 융합형 신성장동력 사업으로 미래 지식기반사회에 있어서 도시민들로 하여금 누구나 평등하게 최첨단 정보기술의 혜택을 맘껏 누릴 수 있도록 하는 필수 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 성공적인 UCity건설을 위한 합리적이고 효율적인 프로세스의 정립을 위해 기존의 U-City건설사업 프로세스를 재설계(BPR: Business Process Reengineering)하고자 한다. 이에 우선 기존 U-City건설사업의 프로세스를 분석하여 문제점을 진단하고, 둘째로 향상된 방안을 도출하고 프로세스와 관리 체계를 정리하여 개선된 프로세스를 제안하고자 하며, 마지막으로 UML(Unified Modeling Language)을 이용하여 보다 직관적으로 모델링 함으로써 최적의 프로세스를 정립하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 체계적인 사업추진을 통해 녹색성장의 발판으로써 지속 가능한 U-City의 개발이 될 수 있도록 하는데 그 목적이 있다.

Lessons Learned during the Early Phases of a Modular Project: A Case Study of UNLV's Solar Decathlon 2020 Project

  • The U.S. Department of Energy conducts the Solar Decathlon competition as a student-based achievement that encourages sustainable design with energy efficiency and solar energy technologies. In the 2020 competition, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) team designed, fabricated, and constructed a net-zero modular house that applies innovative and highly efficient building technologies. This paper focused on the lessons learned during the early phases of this ongoing modular project. The research methodology included obtaining feedback from key project participants using a well-structured questionnaire. The results showed that the major items/challenges in the project's planning phase included selecting the modular size, planning the construction system, planning the materials and procurement, estimating costs and duration, selecting a fabricator, collaboration and communication, safety, and planning module transportation. These findings will help modular practitioners and future Solar Decathlon competition participants better understand how and what factors they should consider most during the early phases through the lessons learned.

U-City 시스템 도입에 따른 탄소배출량 저감 효과 분석 (The Effect of Reducing Carbon Emissions, According to the Introduction of U-City System)

  • 기후변화의 원인 중 탄소배출이 가장 큰 비중을 차지하고 있어 탄소배출 감소의 필요성이 전 세계적으로 제기되고 탄소배출을 감소하기 위한 국제적 움직임이 가속화되고 있다. 선진국들은 녹색산업을 신성장동력 산업으로 활용하는 전략을 추진 중이며 탄소저감형도시(low carbon city)에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 현재 우리나라에서 진행되고 있는 U-City 사업에 대하여 U-City 도입 이전 도시와 U-City 도입 도시의 탄소배출량 변화를 분석하여 이산화탄소 저감효과에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 U-City 도입 이전과 도입 이후의 이산화탄소 발생량을 비교, 분석하여 U-City 도입에 따른 탄소저감 효과를 정량화하고자 하였다. U-City 도입이전의 도시는 1기 신도시 중에 성남시 분당구와 고양시 일산구를 대상으로 하였으며, U-City 도입이후의 도시로는 화성동탄 U-City를 선정하여 비교한 결과 탄소배출량이 30%정도 줄어든 것으로 결과가 도출되었다.

G-SEED의 신·재생에너지시설 평가기준 개선 연구 (A Study on Improvement of the Assessment Criteria for New and Renewable Energy Facilities in the G-SEED)

  • The G-SEED encourages the installation of new and renewable energy facilities through assessments of the new and renewable energy installation rates. The government also regulates the installation rate of new and renewable energy facilities in the 'Project on new and renewable energy obligation in public installations'. The current criteria concerning the new and renewable energy facilities in the G-SEED are the result of an amendment made in July 2010. As over five years have passed since this amendment, the assessment criteria needs to be reenforced. To improve the current criteria, the calculation results of the installation rate of new and renewable energy facilities in the G-SEED were analyzed and compared to the corresponding calculation results of the 'Project on new and renewable energy obligation in public installations'. And an improved draft for the assessment criteria of the new and renewable energy facilities in the G-SEED was proposed.

한국잔디류(Zoysia Grass)의 육종현황 (Present and Future Prospect in Zoysia Grass Breeding)

  • Although zoysia grass (Zoysia spp.) has a lot of excellent chracteristics as warm-season grass, it have been limited in use due to slow establishment, low seed production, poor shade tolerance and other factors. Breeding trials have been continued from 1900's, much attentions have been paid especially in U.S.A., Korea and Japan recently. In U.S.A., more than 24 varieties had been evaluated at National Turfgrass Evaluation Program(NTEP) from 1991 to 1995 and some were regsistered as commercial. After the 6th International Turfgrass Research Conference at Japan in 1989, Japan Turfgrass In-corporation (JTI) sponsored by private companies and government carried out breeding programs for pest, salt, and shade tolerant and herbicide resistant varieties. JTI also has been trying to im-prove vigor and breed evergreen zoysia Korean breeders collected germplasms since 1960's. After USDA breeders came to Korean penesula in 1982, Korean breeders joined with USDA zoysia breeding project for several years. Many interspecific hybrids and natural selected varieties were breeded that period both in U.S.A and Korea. Breeding objectives were to extend green color period, improve leaf quality and density, and better leaf color at dormant stage. Since 1990's, zoysia grass breeding trials are getting more diverse in many points such as random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) assay for ecotype identification. The objectives of this study are to evaluate germplasms in Korea, and also review the present status and future prospect in zoysia grass breeding in the world.
