According to the worldwide efforts to reduce greenhouse gases consequent upon climatic change, the field of road traffic is also making diverse efforts to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases. Among these, the exhaust gases from vehicles, the so-called main culprit of the greenhouse gases will take place the more as delay and tie-up of vehicles ever take place. Accordingly, as a scheme for reducing the delay & tie-up of vehicles, it's possible to bring up the idea of supply of new facilities and management of the existing facilities; recently, a lot more focus is being put on the management of the existing facilities due to enormous amounts of construction cost. In the midst of growing concern for traffic demand management policy, it's about the time we should do research on the tollbooth metering on the expressway whose research is almost non-existent home and abroad. As a traffic demand management policy coming to happen in case of the management of pay expressway like Japan and Korea, this research analyzed the contents of tollbooth metering, its effect and its subsequent convenience. Especially as a tool for effect analysis, this research made an analysis using VISSIM-a micro-simulation tool. As the tollbooth metering promoted, as a part of green traffic promotion strategy, is expected to contribute to improvement in traffic flow and reduction in carbon emissions, etc. It seems that there needs to be continuous research work on the management plan & revitalization plan for maximization of its effect later as well.
As the importance of the environment has been recognized worldwide, the need to calculate and reduce carbon emissions has been drawing an increasing attention throughout various industrial sections. Thereby the discipline of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) involving raw material preparation, production processes, transportation and installation has been established. There is a clear research gap between the need and the practice for Korean Case of renewable energy industry, particularly wind power. To bridge the gap, this study conducted LCA research on wind power generation in the Korean area of Yeongdeok, an example of a domestic onshor wind power complex using SimaPro, which is the most widely used LCA system. As a result of the study, the energy recovery period (EPT) of one wind turbine is about 10 months, and the GHG emitted to generate power of 1 kwh is 15 g CO2/kWh, which is competitive compared to other energy sources. In the environmental impact assessment by component, the results showed that the tower of wind turbines had the greatest impact on various environmental impact sectors. The experience gained in this study can be further used in strengthening the introduction of renewable energy and reducing the carbon emission in line with reducing climate change.

The study was carried out to investigate adsorption characteristic on hydrogen sulfide (H$_2$S) and methylmercaptan (CH$_3$SH) odor gas using the char made by a thermal decomposition of sewage sludge. The fixed bed adsorption experiments of the optimum L/D ratio could be 1.0, and adsorption capacity and break point increased with the increase of temperature. A simultaneous adsorption characteristic of H$_2$S and CH$_3$SH increased in breakthrough time and adsorption capacity more than single adsorption experiment, and CH$_3$SH had higher effective diffusivities than H$_2$S in same condition. The adsorption capacity of CH$_3$SH increased with fast velocity. When it was compared the produced absorbent with commercial activated carbon, As to adsorbent amount, it was H$_2$S 77% and CH$_3$SH 80% of commercial activated carbon.

$N_2O$(Nitrous Oxide) is known as the third major GHG(Green House Gas) following $CO_2$(Carbon Oxide) and $CH_4$(Methane). The GWP(Global Warming Potential) factor of $N_2O$ is 310 times as large as that of $CO_2$ because $N_2O$ in the atmosphere is very stable, and it becomes a source of secondary contamination after photo-degradation in the stratosphere. Investigation on the cause of the $N_2O$ formation have been continuously reported by several researchers on power sources with continuous combustion form, such as a boiler. However, in the diesel engine, research on $N_2O$ generation which has effected from fuel components has not been conducted. Therefore, in this research, author has investigated about $N_2O$ emission rates which was changed by nitrogen and sulfur concentration in fuel on the diesel engine. The test engine was a 4-stroke direct injection diesel engine with maximum output of 12 kW at 2600rpm, and operating condition of that was set up at a 75% load. Nitrogen and sulfur concentrations in fuel were raised by using six additives : nitrogen additives were Pyridine, Indole, Quinoline, Pyrrol and Propionitrile and sulfur additive was Di-tert-butyl-disulfide. In conclusion, diesel fuels containing nitrogen elements less than 0.5% did not affect $N_2O$ emissions in the all concentrations and kinds of the additive agent in the fuel. However, increasing of the sulfur additive in fuel increased $N_2O$ emission in exhaust gas.

In order to reduce the green-house gas exhaustion, International Maritime Organization (IMO) has been reinforcing carbon gas regulations. Due to the regulations, a lot of competitions for designing Eco ship in the shipbuilding industry are progressing now. It is faced with the necessity of reducing hull weight by combining automated systems for optimal compartment arrangement with hull structural design. Most researches on optimum structural design method have been consistently in progress and applied to minimize weight and cost of mid-ship section in preliminary ship design stage based on analytical structural analysis method on fixed compartment arrangement. In order to reduce design period and to improve international technical competitiveness by shortening the period of hull structural design and enhancing design accuracy, it has been felt necessity to combine optimized compartment arrangement with optimum design of ship structure based on the international regulations and rules. So in this study, the automated design algorithm for longitudinal members has been developed to combine automated algorithm of compartment arrangement with hull structural design system for oil tanker. The SeaTrust-Hullscan software developed by Korean Register is used to perform ship structural design for mother ship and selected design cases. The effect of weight reduction is verified with comparison of ship weight between mother ship and the cases suggested in this study.
In this study, the newest technology available to reduce GHG emissions, which can be applicable in energy industries of the future that has large reduction obligations by energy target management and large intensity of GHG emissions, has been investigated by searching the technical characteristics of each technology. The newest technology to reduce GHG emissions in the field of power generation and energy can be mainly classified into the improvement of efficiency, CCS, and gas combined-cycle technology. In order to improve the reliability of the GHG emission factor obtained from the investigation process, it has been compared to the technology-specific GHG emission factor derived from the estimated amount of emissions. Then the GHG abatement measures, using the derived estimation of factor, by using the newest technology to reduce GHG emissions have been predicted. As a result, the GHG reduction rate by technology of CCS development has been expected to be the largest more than 30%, and the abatement rate by technology of coal gasified fuel cell and pressurized fluidized-bed thermal power generation has been showed more than 20%. If the effective introduction of the newest technology and the study of its characteristics is continued, and properly applied for future GHG emissions, it can be prospected that the national GHG reduction targets can be achieved in cost-efficient way.

As a core policy for achieving the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector, Korea has enforced the mandatory certification of zero energy buildings for new public buildings from 2020. This study suggests energy-saving technologies and economic factors that building officials can refer to for decision-making on the implementation of zero energy buildings. For this study, the construction cost for the energy item of a building was analyzed by collecting the building energy efficiency level certification data and detailed construction cost statement data from public institutions for the last three years. Based on the building energy efficiency certification data, each energy item of the baseline building was derived, and the energy performance of the zero energy building was derived through repetitive simulations by gradually increasing the energy performance value of the baseline building. By applying the analyzed construction cost, the construction cost for each energy item of the baseline and zero energy buildings was derived. As a result, the lighting equipment contributed up to 10.5% energy savings, and the increase in construction cost of the cooling and heating system was at least 9.1%.
Purpose: To urge the necessity of disclosure by identifying the relationship between the disclosure status of greenhouse gas emissions from domestic business sites and other indirect emissions to total emissions. Method: The 2021 emission data disclosed in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) was collected by industry and emission category for comparative analysis. Result: The more companies that calculated and disclosed emissions by category within Scope 3, the more active they were in responding to or disclosing evaluation factors other than disclosure of emissions, and those companies were able to obtain higher grades in CDP and ESG evaluations. The number of Scope 3 calculations and disclosures was found to be high. In addition, there was a significant difference in the correlation between the number of Scope 3 disclosures by industry and the share of each scope out of the total in some manufacturing industries. Conclusion: As the number of Scope 3 disclosures, corporate ratings, and total emissions are proportional, it was confirmed that the higher the number of Scope 3 disclosures and GHG emissions, the higher the level of Scope 3 management. Based on Scope 3 emissions calculation and disclosure, effective emissions management and reduction activities are required.
Gangnam-gu, where the survey of residents' consciousness has been made in this study, is the district shows the highest rate of the energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission per unit area except some industrial districts such as Gwangyang, Ulsan, and Pohang. The greenhouse gas emission amount of Gangnam-gu is 4,863,765 $tCO_2$ which accounts for 10 % of the total discharging amount of Seoul, 50,330,356 $tCO_2$, which is ranked the top greenhouse gas emission rate in the commercial category and the 2nd place in the household category. The average recognition rate for the 5 subjects of the global warming phenomenons has indicated to be 83.58%. A survey questioning about the main agent to reduce the greenhouse gas, in all age groups except 20s have replied that it should be done by themselves, the residents of Gangnam-gu. For the question of the role of local government to respond to the climate change, the necessity of establishing infrastructure which is suitable for walking and biking. For the other question about the educational facilities to cope with the climate change, many answered the relevant education should be processed from the middle and high schools. For the practical activities in daily life to respond to the climate change, many replies have shown that the energy and resource conservation has been practiced pretty well broadly, but the ecomileage (former carbon mileage) has not been practiced well. Also, many replies have pointed that there were no benefits or rewards for the people who practiced the eco-mileage in their daily lives, which indicates that a kind of incentive is necessary for the efforts to respond to the climate change from the local government to execute the policy substantially and effectively. This study has the purpose to search the political countermeasures to improve the potentiality to reduce the green house gas emission rate through the residents conscious survey about climate change and the political solution by the local government to improve the certain items which showed the lower awareness rate.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) allows New & Renewable Energy projects to make additional income by selling CER's, which represent the amount of Green House Gases(GHG) that is reduced in the project. However, forward contracts used to hedge fluctuating market prices does not allow projects to sell CER's at a premium. As an alternate approach to maximize CER revenue, CER's are modeled as a 'real option', in which CER's are sold only above the desired sales price. Using the Binomial Option Pricing model, the resultant lattices are used to determine whether to sell, defer or abandon the option at individual nodes. Overlaying Pascal's Triangle on the lattices also enabled the calculation of the annual probabilities for deferring CER sales without incurring downside losses. Application to an actual Landfill Gas project showed increased overall NPV, and that CER sales could be deferred at a maximum of 2 years. The proposed framework allows transparency in the analysis and provides valuable and strategical information when making investment decisions related to CER sales of CDM projects.
