  • Effect of additive on color reversion of green tea extract, whose undesirable color had been removed by irradiation, was studied during storage. Hunter color L-vague of irradiated sample was significantly higher than that of nonirradiated control. The color of green tea extract with butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) did not differ from that of the control but the green tea extract with ascorbic acid had higher L-value than the control during the whole storage (p<0.05), However, the sample irradiated at 20 kGy showed a faster color reversion than the sample with 5 or 10 kGy of irradiation. Hunter color a-values were decreased by irradiation and the sample with ascorbic acid showed the lowest. The result of Hunter color b-value was also similar to that of Hunter color a-value, indicating that when the irradiation technology is used for color improvement of green tea extract, the ascorbic acid can be added to minimize color reversion of the extract during delivery or storage.

  • Color is a significant factor for evoking human emotion. Therefore, the effects of color have been analyzed to predict and evaluate human emotion. The purpose of this study was to measure the cardiovascular responses depending on color stimuli in order to observe differences in color-emotions. Images consisting of six colors (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow) were used as visual stimuli. 26 college or graduate students (13 males) watched the color stimuli on the monitor and scored their subjective emotion while electrocardiogram (ECG) was meausred. The effects of the color on emotion were tested using Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test. The coherence ratio showed significant differences between green and magenta (p = .004), green and red (p = .006), and green and yellow (p = .004). The significant differences of cardiovascular and emotions were relevant to emotional valence. This study shows significance as an empirical study by indicating that green induces pleasant and red induces unpleasant.

  • The objectives of this study were to find for suitable chemical reagents to use as a green-color protector for Gardenia jasminoldes Green pigment and to compare the effectiveness of these reagents for discoloration prevention. Gardenia jasminoldes Green treated with polyoxyethylene (POE) (12) dimethicone shouted a greener color than those treated with methoxycinnamidopropyl hydroxysultaine ultraviolet stabilizers after ultraviolet radiation (UVR). The experimental results exhibited that the concentration of the POE (12) dimethicone affected the effectiveness of green-color conservation. The greenest rotor was obtained by treating 0.10 wt% aquous solution of Gardenia jasminoldes Green with 1.0 wt% POE (12) dimethicone aqueous solution and the absorbances of the solutions after UVR were increased from 78% to 95% in comparison with the untreated. In addition, the Gardenia jasminoldes Green aqueous solution mixed with POE (12) dimethicone showed great green-color fastness in outdoor weathering exposure. The mechanism of the green color protection under UVR is unclear, however the dimethicone group of POE (12) dimethicone may play and important role in the stabilization.

  • Gamma irradiation was used as part of a new processing method to produce a brighter-colored and mild-flavored green tea leaf extract that retained all of its physiological activities. Dried green tea leaf was extracted with 70% ethanol and gamma irradiated at 0,5, 10, 20 kGy. Hunter color $L^{*}$- and $a^{*}$-values were increased with irradiation in a dose-dependent manner, which was a color range from dark brown to bright yellow. However, the irradiation effect gradually disappeared during 3 weeks of storage, with color reverting to that of untreated samples. There was no difference in the radical scavenging and tyrosinase inhibition effect by irradiation. Among antioxidants used, ascorbic acid was the most effective against color reversion. In contrast, cysteine was shown to protect the effect of color change with irradiation. Results indicated that enhanced color of irradiated green tea leaf extract can be effectively controlled by additives such as ascorbic acid and a low storage temperature.e.e.

  • The purpose of this study is investigate the characteristics of color perception among Chinese people, and compare the characteristics among Korean, Chinese and Japanese people, using Munsell color space. The results are as follows: 1) Chinese people were more likely to tell accurately red, yellow red, yellow, purple, and an achromatic color, but did not do accurately green yellow, blue, and purple blue. In terms of a comparison of average perceived color and standard color, there were significant differences among green yellow, blue green, and blue and standard color; 2) Color perceptions of Korean, Chinese and Japanese people were broadly classified into four types. Also, of ten chromatic colors, the color perception type of only two colors, red and yellow, were is same among the groups of the three countries. However, the color perception type of yellow red, green, blue green and blue were different among them; and 3) In terms of a color perception accuracy test among the groups of the three countries, there were not significant differences between yellow and purple and standard color. However, significant differences existed between the rest of the colors and standard color.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the scope of standard color perception for Americans and to compare the differences in color perception between Korean and American undergraduates. Sixty male and fifty-one female American undergraduates were selected as a random sample. Color perception was tested with the naked eyes. Minolta Chroma Meter CR 300 was used for physical measurement of the color. Based on the objective of this study and the data generated the following results were drawn: 1) We found no distinctive difference in color perception by different eye colors. 2) Color perception of American undergraduates is largely classified into four different groups: simple group includes Yellow, Green, Blue, White, Gray, and Black, X(-axis)group includes Yellow Red, Y(-axis)group includes Blue Green, Purple, complex group includes Yellow Red, Purple Blue. 3) The differences in color perception between the two undergraduate groups were found to be significant with four colors: Yellow Red, Green, Blue, and Purple. 4) There is a wide difference between the values of standard color and inn percept color. When undergraduates in both countries were compared, it turned out that Korean students were more accurate than Americans in color perception. 5) American students perceived Red, Yellow, and Green colors relatively correctly, but showed an extremely low degree of accuracy in Blue and Purple Blue color perception.

  • This paper investigates the color rank system of the Wonsam, ceremonial topcoat, worn as a court formal costume of the Joseon dynasty by analyzing the court costume system and the actual examples of wearing. The research shows that there were some discrepancies of the color rank of the Wonsam between the court costume system and the actual wearing examples. There were red, purple, blue, green, and black Wonsam in the Joseon dynasty. The color rank of the Wonsam is as follows: the Queen's color was red, the Crown Princess's was green and purple, the royal concubine's was usually green and blue, but they could wear purple when they won the King's favor. A prince's wife's was usually green, but she wore blue and purple if she became the mother of the King. The princess's was green, and the court lady's was green, blue, and black. In most cases, the textiles of Wonsam were made by silk with patterns, even though Joseon dynasty was ordered to use silks without patterns in court weddings and funeral ceremonies to avoid extravagance.

  • To study the influence of background color and substratum on hypermelanosis of starry flounder, we compared the daily food intake (DFI), the feed efficiency (FE), the survival, the growth, the ratio of pigmented area on the blind side and the ratio of hypermelanic fish duplicately reared for 180 days in dark-green FRP aquarium (control), white FRP aquarium together with dark-green substratum. The ratio of pigmented area on the blind side was significantly higher at the dark-green group than at the white group. DFI, FE and growth were higher in the dark-green substratum. Pigmented area rate and ratio of hypermelanic fish were significantly higher at the dark green group than at the high dark-green substratum. The results suggest that bright tank color and substratum bottom could inhibit the hypermelanosis.

  • Korean Lawn. Zoysia japonica Steud. is the type of a perennial warm-season turfgrass keeping green leaf color for 5 months from May to September in natural condition in Korea. This Studies were carried out to obtain the effects of N-P-K fertilization, regrowth capacity after mowing and chlorophyll contents on prolongation of the green leaf color period in Zoysia japonica Steud turfgrass areas. The results obtained are summarized as follows ; 1.The effects of nitrogen fertilizer application in Zoysia japonica Steud, turfgrass areas were affected on regrowth ability after mowing green color of leaf canopies and chlorophyll contents, respectively(P<.05) 2.A experimental plots which applied 51 g/m$^2$/10 weeks of N$_3$P$_1$K$_1$fertilizer, there were high significant effects on prolongation of the green leaf color period and the plots of phosphorus and potassium had additive effects. 3.Prolongation of the green leaf color period to the last of October was obviously possible by slow degrees in proportation to increment of the fertilizer. However, it is interpreted that more prolongation of the green period is impossible with N-P-K fertilization and irrigation treatments. unless the intermediate turfgrasses between $C_3$ and $C_4$plants must be found and bred.
