  • This study aims to determine (1) the inhibiting factors and solutions in the development of eco-tourism, and (2) how green entrepreneurship can be used for eco-tourism development. The increasing issue of global warming is pushing awareness of environmental preservation. This condition changes the people's paradigm in traveling from the concept of mass-tourism to the concept of eco-tourism. The development of eco-tourism has consequences for entrepreneurial activities which is known as green entrepreneurship. This study is applied research conducted in East Lombok, one of the regions in Indonesia. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling covering a total of 34 informants. Data collection methods are carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation studies. Based on the data analysis, the findings of this study show that (a) inhibiting factors of eco-tourism development are limitation of eco-tourism knowledge, lack of awareness in environmental preservation, and absence of supporting government policy; and (b) solution for eco-tourism development discovered in this research is divided into five factors i.e., condition, demand, related industry and support, strategy, government. Besides, for applying the green entrepreneurship model i.e., developing the spirit of green entrepreneurship, training in making products and services that are environmentally friendly is needed.

  • This research was conducted to suggest some directions for desirable urban green space planning through 1) establishing a new classification system by examining the existing concept, problems and characteristics of green space and 2) defining the essence of green space environment and finding some analytical and evaluative methods through a clear establishment of functions, indicators of green space. In the research, measurements of the amount of green space was accompanied with measurements of green covered space, green volume, and the structure of greenery within the frame of vision. As result, three-dimensional measurement was possible, three-dimensional measurement was possible, which turned out to be more effective than the existing 2-dimensional measuring method. It is found that the ratio of green covered space is to proportional to the ratio of green volume in this study. Therefore in green space planning process it is desirable to consider the ratio of green volume all together.

  • In the field of soil and groundwater remediation, sustainability was merged into remediation process and green remediation was initiated within the concept of sustainable development. Green remediation was defined and has been already applied to the remediation fields in U.S. In the case of Europe, green remediation has been evaluated for the application of green technology in the remediation industry and they especially defined sustainable remediation following idea of sustainable development. Although green and sustainable remediation is global trends, there are only a few cases about application of green remediation in South Korea. It is needed to develop soil and groundwater remediation technology towards green remediation, considering "Green Growth" as policy direction in South Korea.

  • Green building can contribute to reduce the energy usage dramatically and can be applied to new building projects. This paper explored the efficient construction process for sustainable and green building. Construction process will be performed on the new green building projects and performance evaluation will be carred out as well. For this background, a pilot project of POSCO Green Building provides how to invigorate the low-energy green building which ensure quality and performance by establishing process concept of construction phase to realize the sustainable green building.

  • The "Green Policy" of Korean government is classified as three categories, the first is 'reduction of fossil fuel use', the second is 'clean energy development' and the last is 'sustainable green property which has a continuous value in the use'. In this matter, this study provides how the green property concept include green infrastructure and how to link the green infrastructure to effective geo-spatial management by cadastre system. The establishment of green infrastructure is not a simple procedure, but definitely starts from the cadastre system. If the green policy includes sustainable way of land/marine use, the green cadastre is significant because of its possibilities to be used as a powerful implementation.

  • There are plenty of ecological and traditional resources around Wandong and the Hwangryong-River district, and so the purpose of this development plan is to preserve ecological resources and traditional culture, and to utilize potential value of recreation in this site. Two major concepts are established in this plan one is “Green-Tourism”, the other is “Blue-Recreation”. In this development plan “Green-Tourism” means the effective tourism using ecological and traditional resources, while “Blue-Recreation” means the active tourism using waterfront and cultural facilities. The concept of “Green-Tourism” is applied to the Wangdong area, which is comprised of 6 theme zones. The concept of “Blue-Recreation” is applied to the Hwangryong-River area, which is composed of 4 theme zones. In total, 10 theme zones are planned according to characteristics found in the regional surroundings and cultural facilities of each zone.

  • Through this paper, we studied on the basic concept of vibration-induced power generation for urban infrastructures. Since the travelling of automobiles on the bridge cause vibration, it is possible to convert the vibration energy into green-electric energy by utilizing magnetic induction technology. In this paper we define the concept of green-bridge vibration power generation system which contains the concept of magnetic induction technology and propose a vibration power generation device for converting the bridge vibration energy into the electric energy. Also, an experiment was held by applying the vibration power generator on a real bridge. The results showed the applicability and effectiveness of the vibration power generator.

  • More than ten years have passed since the sentinel node (SN) concept for gastric cancer surgery was first discussed. Less invasive modified surgical approaches based on the SN concept have already been put into practice for malignant melanoma and breast cancer, however the SN concept is not yet placed in a standard position in gastric cancer surgery even after two multi-institutional prospective clinical trials, the Japan Clinical Oncology Group trial (JCOG0302) and the Japanese Society for Sentinel Node Navigation Surgery (SNNS) trial. What is the problem in the clinical application of the SN concept to gastric cancer surgery? There is no doubt that we need reliable indicator(s) to determine with certainty the absence of metastasis in the lymph nodes in order to avoid unnecessary lymphadenectomy. There are several matters of debate in performing the actual procedure, such as the type of tracer, the site of injection, how to detect and harvest, how to detect metastases of SNs, and learning period. These issues have to be addressed further to establish the most suitable procedure. Novel technologies such as indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence imaging and one-step nucleic acid amplification (OSNA) may overcome the current difficulties. Once we know what the problems are and how to tackle them, we can pursue the goal.

  • In order to promote the growth of the trees, it is the most important to fertilize efficiently. The organic nutrient "Green-one" which list public notification number 08-organic-3-112" was registered in Rural Development Administration. The "Green-one" is the environment friendly organic nutrient with new concept which is used in planting and maintenance of the trees. The "Green-one" makes the tree grow actively. Also it has a function of the anti germ and sustainable fertilizer effect. In conclusion, "Green-one" promoted the growth of P. thunbergii excellently. Expecially the growth of the root increased. The concentration of "Green-one" dilution was more better 100 times than 300 times in trees grow. This research can apply with the test of fertilizer efficiency in landscape trees.

  • Since the 1990s, discussions regarding green libraries started in the U.S.A, in the name of 'library and the environment', 'Green librarians', 'constructing of environmental sources', 'noise and library', 'building libraries as an environmental alternative' and etc. Currently, green libraries certified by an evaluation system are more than 50. This study proposes a direction to build a green library. The study analyzes national and international green libraries certified by the evaluation system. The cases are analyzed based on the six evaluation factors in the LEED certification system; Sustainable Site, Water Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Material and Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, Innovation and Design Process. Since the evaluation system focuses mainly on the architectural aspects, there was a need of expanding the concept of eco-friendly in this research. The newly expanded eco-friendly concept includes services, content, and supplies of libraries.
