This study was carried out to verify the suitability of GRS(Glass-fiber Reinforced Slag) as natural type landscape stone according to the material property and structural safety performance standards. The structural safety performance of the GRS panel showed 12.4MPa and 16.2MPa each in flexural strength at 2 and 3% content of glass fiber while the flexural strength at 4 and 5% of glass fiber content showed 26.9MPa, and 30.2MPa, respectively, all satisfying the standards. In addition, air-dried gravity was found to be 1.82~1.89 in measuring range at 2~5% level of glass fiber content, satisfy the existing standards 1.8~2.3. In structural safety performance, the range of flexural strength consequent on glass fiber content was surveyed to be 12.8~30.2MPa, all satisfying the performance standards, while 10MPa and more while the compressive strength range was found to be 41.5~53.3MPa, all satisfying the performance standards, 40~60MPa. This study judged the suitability of only the items for a property of matter of landscape stone GRS by applying the natural-form landscape stone GFRC material standard, but in case an installation constructed with GRS material comes into existence later, there should be comprehensive performance guidelines through the research on durability, landscape performance and environmental and ecological performance.

We determined the toxicity of mixtures of ethyl acetate (EA), isopropyl alcohol (IPA), methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), toluene (TOL) and xylene (XYL) with half-maximal effective concentration ($EC_{50}$) values obtained using human hepatocytes cells. According to these data, quantitative property-activity relationships (QPAR) models were successfully proposed to predict the toxicity of mixtures by multiple linear regressions (MLR). The leave-one-out cross validation method was used to find the best subsets of descriptors in the learning methods. Significant differences in physico-chemical properties such as boiling point (BP), specific gravity (SG), Reid vapor pressure (rVP) and flash point (FP) were observed between the single substances and the mixtures. The $EC_{50}$ of the mixture of EA and IPA was significantly lower than that of contained TOL and XYL. The mixture toxicity was related to the mixing ratio of MEK, TOL and XYL (MLR equation $EC_{50}=3.3081-2.5018{\times}TOL-3.2595{\times}XYL-12.6596{\times}MEK{\times}XYL$), as well as to BP, SG, VP and FP (MLR equation $EC_{50}=1.3424+6.2250{\times}FP-7.1198{\times}SG{\times}FP-0.03013{\times}rVP{\times}FP$). These results suggest that QPAR-based models could accurately predict the toxicity of polar and nonpolar mixtures used in rotogravure printing industries.

Wood has different properties depending on the species or growth area. Therefore, in order to use wood efficiently, it is necessary to have a proper understanding of the characteristics of wood depending on the species and the appropriate use for them. In particular, in order to effectively use more than 1,000 species of woody plants in South Korea as wood, it is necessary to evaluate the characteristics of various Korean domestic woods and make a database of them. In this study, the anatomical properties (length and width of tracheid, cell wall thickness), physical properties (specific gravity and shrinkage), mechanical properties (bending strength, compressive strength, tensile strength, shear strength, hardness), and chemical composition (ash, extract, lignin, total sugar content) of Korean red pine which was grown in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea were evaluated.
As the size of our industry and population inclose, the byproducts such as municipal solid wastes, industrial wastes are in the increasing phase. The treatment of such things is rising as a social problem. Today, the final disposal of these wastes depends mostly on the landfill, and the sanitary landfill is required and designed for preventing soil and groundwater contamination. Clays have been used for a liner material of a sanitary landfill, however, the high quality clay is hard to come by and quite expensive as a lining material in our country. Using the waste lime produced abundantly every year from chemical processes was studied here, made from the proper mixing of the bentonite and the waste lime meets the regulations from the USEPA. The soil property index tests (sieve analysis, specific gravity test Atterberg limit test) were performed, and at last to confirm the sorption characteristics of the bentonite and the waste lime the sorption isotherm equilibrium test and the sorption isotherm were performed with Toluene and Ethylbenzene which are the main components of the leachate from the landfill.

Mineral hydrate is a new insulation material that compensates for the defects of existing materials. Mineral hydrate is made of inorganic ingredients; therefore, it is nonflammable. The porous structure of mineral hydrate makes the material lightweight and insulating. Mineral hydrate insulation and similar products have been studied and manufactured in Korea and abroad. However, these insulation materials need to improve in terms of strength. In this study, basalt fiber was used to enhance the strength. In order to observe the property changes, compressive strength, heat conductivity, and specific gravity were measured and XRD pattern analysis was performed. These tests confirmed that basalt fiber was effective at improving the strength and lowering the heat conductivity of mineral hydrate insulation.

This paper has dealt with thermo-physical properties of microencapsulated phase change material slurry as a latent heat storage material having a low melting point. The measured results of the thermo-physical properties of the test microencapsulated phase change material slurry, those are, density, specific heat, thermal conductivity and viscosity, were discussed for the temperature region of solid and liquid phases of the dispersion material (paraffin). The measurements of these properties of microencapsulated phase change material slurry have been carried out by using a specific-gravity meter, a water calorimeter, a differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), a transient hot wire method and rotating type viscometer, respectively. It was clarified that the additional properties law could be applied to the estimation of the density and specific heat of microencapsulated phase change material slurry and also the Euckens equation could be applied to the estimation of the thermal conductivity of this slurry.
In order to suggest recyling and handling method of a tailing, observe it's physical and chemical properties, make an quality test of aggregates which are used a tailing and then examine a applied possibility in architectural materials. Tailing has a ununiform and many-side shape and it is organized quartz, muscovite, calcite, montmorillonite. pH is 6.86-7.28 and the result of leaching test is that Hg and Pb exceed of a standard. The specific gravity of aggregates which are used tailing is 1.95-2.23 and the absorption factor is 9-14.67%. The result of test for abrasion and crushing of aggregates which are used BFS is very excellent. The heavy metal is stabilized but a eruption property of Hg is similar to original sample.
This study was conducted to invent brake of non-steel material without using asbestos and disc pad added $ZrSiO_4$ was made. The physical properties and friction characteristics were investigated by varying methods. The physical properties were inspected of shear strength, hardness, heat expansion, specific gravity, % of gashole, thickness variation, weight variation and pH variation. The friction stability was measured by friction coefficient on variations of speed, temperature and deceleration condition. It was found that the physical properties were in general excellent. According to the friction characteristics tests, $ZrSiO_4$ had an abrasive property. As a results, the friction materials containing $ZrSiO_4$ 3~5vol% showed better resistance to fading and improved friction stability than the materials without ZrSiO$_4$.
Diagrid system has been in the spotlight for its superiority in terms of the resistance to lateral force when applied to skyscrapers. In diagrid system, most of columns can be eliminated because vertical loads (gravity loads) and horizontal loads (lateral loads) are delivered simultaneously thanks to the triangular shape of diagrid. However, lack of studies on connection shape and node connection details makes it hard to employ the system to the buildings. In this study, the structural safety of the node connections in circular steel tube diagrid system which has been considered in the Cyclone Tower in Korea (Seven stories below and fifty-one above the ground) was evaluated using the 4 full-scale specimens. The parameters are the extended length (20 mm, 40 mm & 60 mm), thickness (40 mm & 50 mm).
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the compressive strength properties of municipal waste ash hardening using the unrefined fly-ash and paper sludge ash and to offer basic data to someone for recycling municipal waste ash. Unrefined fly-ash and paper sludge ash are used with admixture. MWA are tested that grading, specific gravity and pH value and observed microsructure of particle with SEM. The compressive strengths of MWA hardening which is mixed with regular ratio according to each admixture are measured. In the results of test, fly-ash is very effective for reducing content of cement by 50% in the recycling of MWA. But proper content mixed paper sludge ash is recommend by about 20% in binder.
