  • Although most commercial relational DBMSs Provide a graphical query language for the user friendly interfaces of the databases, few research has been done for graphical query languages in object databases. Expressing complex query conditions in a concise and intuitive way has been an important issue in the design of graphical query languages. Since the object data model and object query languages are more complex than those of the relational ones, the graphical object query language should have a concise and intuitive representation method. We propose a graphical object query language called GOQL (Graphical Object Query Language) for object databases. By employing simple graphical notations, advanced features of the object queries such as path expressions including set attributes, quantifiers, and/or methods can be represented in a simple graphical notation. GOQL has an excellent expressive power compared with previous graphical object query languages. We show that path expressions in XSQL(1,2) can be represented by the simple graphical notations in GOQL. We also propose an algorithm that translates a graphical query in GOQL into the textual object query with the same semantics. We finally describe implementation results of GOQL in the Internet environments.

  • We propose a graphical object query language called OGPL (Odysseus Graphical Query Language) for Odysseus object databases. By employing simple graphical notations, OGQL provides a user friendly database interface for object databases. OGQL provides a simple graphical notation for advanced features of the object queries such as path expressions including cycles (cyclic queries). Cyclic queries have not been handled in the previous graphical query languages because of their complexity and ambiguity in devising appropriate graphical notations. GOQL also provides a graphical notation for inheritance hierarchy. Since OGQL has been implemented in Java and JDBC standard interface, users can access the remote databases in a web environment and the system has platform-independent architecture.

  • The widespreading of XML as a standard for semi-structured documents on the Web opens up challenging opportunities for Web query language. And UML is a graphical language to represent the result of object-oriented analysis and design. In this paper, we introduce an UML-based graphical query language for XML documents. The use of a visual formalism for representing the syntax and semantics of queries enables an intuitive expression of queries, even when they are rather complex. And, it is matched a series of processes to store and retrieve XML documents to OODBMS with the use of an uniform visualization for representing both the content of XML documents (and of their DTD) and the syntax and semantics of queries.

  • Automation systems improve the productivity of works which relate to product design, facilities management, fault processing and quality evaluation. In these systems, the description language for monitoring and control process is called new control language. These are five flow control languages : IL, ST, FBD, SFC and LD. IL and ST are based on left form. FBD, SFC and LD are based on graphic form. Generally, a software which monitors and controls a system is allowed to use just one flow control language. It is impossible to use more than two languages for simulation in the same system environment. In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of flow control languages and the process of programming in the legacy system. In addition, for the Integrated processing of languages, we propose Extended ST based on the high-level ST language. Based on this research, we implement a graphical language editor and EST-IL convertor. The graphical language editor makes sequence rules, and converts graphical language into EST. EST-IL convertor has a function to convert EST into IL which is similar to assembly language. As the result of this paper, we present a scheme which integrates all the flow control language processing based on IL.

  • Special-purpose microcontrollers PLCs have been widely used in the area of industrial automation. For the research of analysis and verification for PLC programs, first of all we have to specify formal sematics of PLC programming languages. This paper defines formally the operational semantics of LD language. After we transform the graphical language LD into its textual representation Symbolic LD, we give semantics of Symbolic LD since LD language is a graphical language. This paper defines the natural sematics of Symbolic LD and formalizes it in Coq proof assistant.

  • This paper presents a design experience of a control language for coordination of a multi-robot system. To effectively program job commands, a Petrinet-type Graphical Robot Language(PGRL) is proposed, where some functions, such as concurrency and synchronization, for coordination among tasks can be easily programmed. In our system, the proposed task commands of PGRL are implemented by employing formal model languages, which are composed of three modules, sensory, data handling, and action module. It is expected that by using our proposed PGRL and formal languages, one can easily describe a job or task, and hence can effectively operate a complex real-time and concurrent system. The control system is being implemented by using VME-based 32-bit microprocessor boards for supervisory, each module controller(arm, hand, leg, sensor data processing module) and a real time multi-tasking operating system(VxWorks). • As the highly complex and precise control functions are required in modern industrial process control system, the complex function models and developed in each hardware and software of PLC. The SFC graphical language is very powerful for describing the sequential logic control algorithm, on the other hand it graphical language is very powerful for describing the sequential logic control algorithm, on the other hand it has problems in describing the interlock logic control algorithm, such as error management algorithm. In this paper, we propose the efficient error management method using the action qualifiers to design the error management algorithm in industrial process control system described scheme, we realize the error management logic in process control system of film coating machine. From the experiment results, we confirm that the proposed scheme is very useful in aspects to realize easily th error management logic and to reduce the memory capacity for user's program.

  • We developed a spatial parser generator, SPG, which can automatically create a spatial parser if CMG(Constraint Multiset Grammars) grammars for a visual language are provided by the user with GUI(Graphical User Interface). SPG has the following features. (1) The user uses a visual editor to define the grammars of a virtual language and draw the visual language which should be parsed. (2) The user roughly defines CMG grammars in a visual wan at first. Then the user modifies them and defines final grammars. (3) Because SPG has a constraint solver, it maintains constraints in the parsed virtual language according to the grammars.

  • Statistical graphics have been important new tools for data analysis and many statistical softwares are exploiting graphical methods. Among these softwares available in personal computer at low cost, we intriduce S-PLUS(version 2.0). S-PLUS is an interactive graphical data analysis system and object-oriented programming language. SAS/GRAPH is another popular graphical system for displaying data in the form of color plots, charts, maps, and slides on screen and hardcopy devices. S-PLUS is compared to SAS/GRAPH(version 6.04) in viewpoints of statistical graphics.

  • In this paper, graphical representations of parameter variations affected by series or parallel feedback in the load plane were studied. As a result of transformations, all parameters of 2-port was converted to circles, and the step of noise circles and gain circles was 0.1 dB and 1dB, respectively. Compared with conventional commercial CAD softwares, the circuit design procedures could be verified much more systemically. This CAD was programmed in C-language and executed in IBM-PC with VGA graphic adaptor.
