Growth of Highly (100) Oriented (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 Thin Films on LaNiO3 Electrode (LaNiO3 전극위에 (100)으로 배향된 (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 박막의 성장)

  • [ $(Na_{0.5}Bi_{0.5})TiO_3$ ][NBT] thin films were prepared on a highly (100) oriented $LaNiO_3[LNO]$ by sol-gel process. X-ray diffraction patterns of the NBT films annealed above $600^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes have confirmed a highly (100) oriented growth and pseudocubic structure (a=3.884${\AA}$). The (l00) orientation factor increased from 90 to $99\%$ with increasing soaking time from 5 to 60 minutes at $600^{\circ}C$. The NBT films ($600^{\circ}C$/5 min,) have a flat and dense microstructure with large columnar grains, and their grain size are about 44 nm. The Au/NBT/LNO/Si hetero structure sample show a ferroelectric properties.

  • The problems encountered by ultrasonic testing of austenitic stainless steel weld joints are discussed in the paper. Due to low thermal conductivity and the occurrence of single phase between the melting point and the room temperature, coarse and oriented grains are formed in such weld metals more in thick sections. This leads to higher scattering at the grain boundaries and low signal to noise ratio, and extensive beam skewing. Experimental results to understand these problem are explained.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 당제철소에서 생산하는 제품중 전기강판 방향성 제품의 제질(철손) 불량원인을 추적하여 조업 guidance를 제시하는 model개발이다. model개발은 현장조업 data에 대해 상관분석, 회귀분석, 분산분석등의 통계적분석을 통하여 재질에 영향을 미치는 주 관련인자들의 조업기준 재정립과 menu화면에 의한 자동 불량원인 추적 model을 개발하였으며, model개발을 위한 사용 tool은 SAS package를 활용하였다.

  • PbTiO$_3$ films applicable to buffer layers for YBCO coated conductor have been successfully fabricated by sol-gel process. Crystallinity of grown films are heavily dependent on processing parameters such as annealing atmosphere and number of dipping. (100) oreinted PbTiO$_3$ films grown on (200) oriented Ni substrates exhibit uniform surface with small grain size(200~300nm).

  • A newly designed magnetic annealing apparatus was used for the treatment of Fe-3%Si steels. With the help of this device, the effect of magnetic annealing on magnetostriction was studied in a wide spectrum of external elastic stresses. It was shown that magnetostriction properties of Fe-Si steels were improved in the compressed state through magnetic annealing, while those in the unstressed state or under tensiion were found to be practically unchanged.

  • Due to the implementation ease and alleviation of memory bottleneck effect, NUMA architecture has dominated in the multiprocessor systems for the past several years. However, because the NUMA system distributes memory in each node, frequent remote memory access is a key factor of performance degradation. Therefore, efficient design of RAC(Remote Access Cache) in NUMA system is critical for performance improvement. In this paper, we suggest Multi-Grain RAC which can adaptively control the RAC line size, with respect to each application behavior Then we simulate NUMA system with multi-grain RAC using MINT, event-driven memory hierarchy simulator. and analyze the performance results. At first, with profile-based determination method, we verify the optimal RAC line size for each application and, then, we compare and analyze the performance differences among NUMA systems with normal RAC, with optimal line size RAC, and with multi-grain RAC. The simulation shows that the worst case can be always avoided and results are very close to optimal case with any combination of application and RAC format.

  • Vanadium dioxide(VO2) has been reported to be the most attractive material for thermochromic windows due to its semiconductor-metal phase transition at around $68^{\circ}C$. However, our previous experiment showed it is difficult to grow VO2 thin films directly on glass substrate, whereas thermochromic VO2 thin films were successfully grown on R-cut sapphire substrate. Properties of VO2 thin films on different orientations of sapphire substrates were already reported. Furthermore, VO2 thin films were successfully grown heteroepitaxially on (001) preferred oriented ZnO coated glass. We deposited VO2 thin films using V2O5 targets on substrates with various lattice parameters with same orientation(SrTiO3, MgO, and Sapphire substrate of (001) orientation) by pulsed laser deposition. In this work, we will discuss the effects of lattice misfit, substrate-induced stress and grain size on the properties of VO2 thin films deposited on various substrate materials.

  • Transparent conductive ZnO:Ga thin films were deposited on glass substrates using rf magnetron sputtering method for flat panel display. The ZnO:Ga films were preferentially oriented to c-axis (002) of on substrates. The surface morphology was smooth and had not porous whatever substrate temperature was. The electrical conductivity of the thin films were in the range of $1.6{\times}10^2{\sim}6.7{\times}10^3\;{\Omega}^{-1}cm^{-1}$ at the growth temperature from 50 to $400^{\circ}C$, whereas has a maximum at around $250^{\circ}C$. By combining of XRD and EXAFS, the crystallinity and grain size decreased with increasing substrate temperature corresponding to the reduction of the grain-boundary scattering. The optical transmittance of sputtered ZnO:Ga thin films had an improved about 86% in the UV-visible region.

  • Both cast and extruded composites of SiC whisker reinforced 6061 Al alloy matrix were fabricated by high pressure infiltration of the alloy melt into the SiC preform and subsequent hot extrusion of the composite ingots. The micro structures, age hardening behavior and mechanical properties have been examined on the both cast and extruded composites of SiCw/6061. The cast composites of SiCw/6061 were obtained in which SiC whiskers were randomly oriented. Hot extrusion of these cast composites lead to alignment of the whisker in the direction of extrusion. Strengthening effect of whisker in the extruded composites is lower than that of the cast composites. The cast composites of SiCw/6061 showed higher thensile strength and lower elongation than extruded composites of SiCw/6061 at all testing temperatures. Lower tensile strength and higher elongation of the extruded composites were attributable to fine grain structures in which grain boundary sliding occruued preferentially at elevated temperatures.

Sintering and Dielectric of $YMnO_3$ Ceramics with the Effect of Y/Mn Ratio (Y/Mn의 혼합비에 따른 $YMnO_3$세라믹의 소결 및 유전특성)

  • The sintering and electrical properties of YMnO3 bulk ceramics were investigated with Y/Mn ratios(Mn rich ;0.80/1.20, 0.90/1.10, 0.95/1.05, and Y rich ; 1.00/1.00, 1.05/0.95, 1.10/0.90). The crystal structure of samples showed a hexagonal structure, and the sample of Y/Mn = 0.95/1.05 indicated higher c-axis oriented peak than other samples. In the case of Mn rich samples, the grain sizes were about 7.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and they showed 95% of theoretical density. Whereas, in the case of Y rich samples, the grain sizes were about 2.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and they showed 86%. The dielectric constant and dissipation factor of the Mn rich samples were smaller than those of the Y rich samples. The samples of Y/Mn = 0.90/1.10 showed the lowest a dissipation factor, and their dielectric constant, dissipation factor and Curie temperature were 36, 0.0136 and 68$0^{\circ}C$, respectively.
