  • Chalcopyrite semiconductor $CuInSe_2$ nanoparticles were prepared using a low temperature colloidal route by reacting the starting materials (CuI, $InI_3$ and $Na_2Se$) in solvents. After synthesised $CuInSe_2$ nanoparticles precursors were mixed with organic binder for the viscosity of the precursor slurry to be suitable for the doctor blade method. The mixture of $CuInSe_2$ and binder was deposited onto molybdenum-coated sodalime glass substrates to form thin film. The precursor thin films were preheated on the hot plate to remove remaining solvents and binder material. After subsequent thermal processing of the thin film under a selenium ambient, $CuInSe_2$ absorber layer with grain size significantly lager than that of the nanoparticles was formed.

Al-6.2wt.%Si 합금의 등온교반시간에 따른 미세조직변화 (Microstructural evolution of rheocast Al-6.2wt.%Si alloy with isothermal stirring)

  • The microstructural evolution with isothermal stirring during semi-solid state processing of hypoeutectic Al-6.2wt%Si alloy was studied. Substructure of the individual primary solid particle in the slurry was investigated through transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Formation of subgrain boundaries on the rheocast Al-6.2wt%Si alloy is observed and the misorientation between the grains is shown typically under 2 degrees by analyzing selected area diffraction (SAD) and convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED) patterns. The existence of high angle grain boundaries are also observed in the alloy. Based upon these observations, mechanisms for the primary particles fragmentation are considered. With isothermal stirring, the dislocation density increases, and the evolution of dislocation cell structure takes place, which is interpreted as a process of achieving uniform deformation by dynamic recovery under applied shear stress.

Effects of Debinding Atmosphere on Properties of Sintered Reaction-bonded Si3N4 Prepared by Tape Casting Method

  • The effects of the debinding atmosphere on the properties of sintered reaction-bonded $Si_3N_4$ (SRBSN) ceramics prepared by tape casting method were investigated. Si green tape was produced from Si slurry of Si powder, using 11.5 wt% polyvinyl butyral as the organic binder and 35 wt% dioctyl phthalate as the plasticizer. The debinding process was conducted in air and $N_2$ atmospheres at $400^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The nitridation process of the debinded Si specimens was performed at $1450^{\circ}C$, followed by sintering at $1850^{\circ}C$ and 20 MPa. The results revealed that the debinding atmosphere had a significant effect on $Si_3N_4$ densification and thermal conductivity. Owing to the higher sintered density and larger grain size, the thermal conductivity of $Si_3N_4$ specimens debinded in air was higher than that of the samples debinded in $N_2$. Thus, debinding in air could be suitable for the manufacture of high-performance SRBSN substrates by tape casting.

  • Molybdenum (Mo), an electrode material of alkali metal thermal-to-electric converters (AMTEC), facilitates grain growth behavior and forms Mo-Na-O compounds at high operating temperatures, resulting in reduced performance and shortened lifetime of the cell. Mo/TiN composite materials have been developed to provide a solution for such issues. Mo is a metal that possesses excellent electrical properties, and TiN is a ceramic compound with high-temperature durability and catalytic activity. In this study, a dip-coating process with an organic solvent-based slurry was used as an optimal coating method to achieve homogeneity and stability of the electrodes. Cell performance was evaluated under various conditions such as the number of coatings, ranging from 1 to 3 times, and heat treatment temperatures of $800-1100^{\circ}C$. The results confirmed that the cell yielded a maximum power of 9.99 W for the sample coated 3 times and heat-treated at $900^{\circ}C$.

Effects of Pre-synthesized $BaTiO_3$ Addition on the Microstructure and Dielectric/ Piezoelectric Properties of $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.94}Ba_{0.06}TiO_3$ Piezoelectric Ceramics

  • Due to the environmental issue vast research is going on to replace the widely used lead contented piezoelectric materials. Bismuth sodium titanate (abbreviated as BNT) based bismuth sodium titanate-barium titanate (abbreviated as BNBT) ceramic was prepared by using modified method rather than conventional mixed oxide method. This modification was made to improve the properties of BNT based ceramic. In this procedure $BaTiO_3$ (abbreviated as BT) was prepared using conventional mixed oxide method. Analytical grade raw materials of $BaCO_3$ and $TiO_2$ were weighted and ball milled using ethanol medium. The mixed slurry was dried and sieved under 80 mesh. Then the powder was calcined at $1100^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. This calcined BT powder was used in the preparation of BNBT. Stoichiometric amount of $Bi_2O_3$, $Na_2CO_3$, $TiO_2$ and BT were weighted and mixed by using ball mill. The used calcination temperature was $850^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. Calcined powder was taken for another milling step. BNBT disks were pressed to 15 mm of diameter and then cold isostatical press (CIP) was used. Pressed samples were sintered at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. The SEM microstructure analysis revealed that the grain shape of the sintered ceramic was polyhedral and grain boundary was well matched where as the sample prepared by conventional method showed irregular arrangement and grain boundary not well matched. And sintered density was better (5.78 g/cc) for the modified method. It was strongly observed that the properties of BNBT ceramic near MPB composition was found to be improved by the modified method compare to the conventional mixed oxide method. The piezoelectric constant dB of 177.33 pC/N, electromechanical coupling factor $k_p$ of 33.4%, dielectric constant $K_{33}^T$ of 688.237 and mechanical quality factor $Q_m$ of 109.37 was found.

  • [ $(BaSr)TiO_3$ ] thick films were prepared by tape casting method, using $BaTiO_3\;and\;SrTiO_3$ powder slurry in order to investigate dielectric properties i.e. dielectric constant, ${\varepsilon}_r$, Curie temperature, $T_c$. Grain growth within $(BaSr)TiO_3$ thick films was observed with increasing weight ratio of $BaTiO_3$. This observation can be explained by phenomena of substitution of $Sr^{2+}$ ion for $Bi^{2+}$ ion in the $BaTiO_3$ system. Also, the Curie temperature in $(BaSr)TiO_3$ thick films was shifted to lower temperature range with increasing $ SrTiO_3$. Furthermore, Curie temperature having maximum dielectric constant was in the range of $-40^{\circ}C\;to\;30^{\circ}C$, and hence sharper phase transformation occurred at Curie temperature. There occurred decrease in tunability and k-factor of $(Ba_{0.6}Sr_{0.4})TiO_3$ calculated from the dielectric constant, ${\varepsilon}_r$ above Curie temperature. In addition, above the $60^{\circ}C$, phase fixation was observed. This means that internal stress relief occurred with increasing $90^{\circ}$ domains.

  • The NASICON solid electrolyte films, $Na_{1+x}Zr_2Si_xP_{3-x}O_{12}$(1.5< x < 2.3), was prepared from ceramic slurry by modified doctor-blade process. The NASICON solid electrolyte and fabricated sensors, Pt-electrode/NASICON/Carbonate$(Na_2CO_3-K_2CO_3CaCO_3\; system)$ electrode, were investigated to measure phase, microstructure and e.m.f variation for sensing $CO_2$ concentration. The uniform grain size of $2-4{\mu}m$ and major phase of sodium zirconium silicon phosphate phase, $Na_{1+x}Zr_2Si_xP_{3-x}O_{12}$was identified with X-ray diffraction patterns and scanning electron microscopy, respectively. The Nernst's slope of 84 mV/decade for $CO_2$ concentration from 500 to 8000 ppm was obtained at operating temperature of $400^{\circ}C$.

답작지대에서 돈분액비에 의한 호밀 생산시 후작 벼의 생산성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Application of Pig Manure Slurry to Rye on Rice Productivity in Paddy-land)

  • 본 연구는 돈분액비로 답리작 사료작물을 재배하여 수확한 다음 돈분액비 시용이 후작물인 벼의 생산성에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 1999년 11월부터 2002년 11월 사이에 수행되었다. 돈분액비와 화학비료는 답리작물인 호밀 파종전과 봄 생육재생기 이전에 시용하였는데, 화학비료 대비 돈분액비의 수준은 N를 기준으로 하였다. 처리는 화학비료 시용구, 돈분액비 $100\%$ 시용구, 돈분액비 $200\%$ 시용구, 화학비료 $50\%$+돈분액비 $100\%$ 시용구로 4처리 완전임의배치 3반복으로 배치하였다. 호밀수확 후작 벼는 농가관행에 준하여 재배되었으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 3개년 평균 벼 수량구성요소 및 수량에 있어서 수장은 액비 $100\%$ 시용구가 가장 짧았으며 액비 $200\%$, 화학비료, 화학비료 $50\%$+액비 $100\%$ 시용구 순으로 길었다. 등숙율은 화학비료 시용구가 가장 낮았다. 천립중은 액비 $100\%$$200\%$ 시용구가 다른 처리에 비해 낮은 경향이었으며, $m^2$당 립수는 반대의 경향이었다. 수수의 연차간 평균치는 화학비료 $50\%$+액비 $100\%$ 시용구가 가장 많았으며 액비 $100\%$, 화학비료, 액비 $200\%$ 시용구 순으로 낮았다. 백미수량은 화학비료 시용구와 화학비료 $50%$+액비 $100\%$ 시용구가 서로 비슷한 수준으로 다른 처리에 비해 높은 경향이었으나, 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 문고병 발생율에는 뚜렷한 경향은 없었으며 도복율은 화학비료 $50\%$+액비 $100\%$ 시용구가 다른 처리구에 비해 도복에 강한 것으로 나타났다. 결과적으로 돈분액비에 의한 답리작으로 호밀을 재배시 그 후작물인 벼의 생산성 측면에서 볼 때 화학비료 $50\%$+액비 $100\%$ 시용이 가장 적절하다고 사료된다.

K+-β/β"-Al2O3의 고온 상관계와 소결성 분석 (Analysis of the Phase Formation and the Sinterability of K+-β/β"-Al2O3 at High Temperatures (≥1600 ℃))

  • 고체 산화물 전해질로 사용되고 있는 초 이온 전도체인 $K^+-{\beta}/{\beta}"-Al_2O_3$의 고온 상관계와 소결성 분석을 위하여 $K_2O-LiO_2-Al_2O_3$ 삼성분계로부터 고상반응을 통하여 순수한 $K^+-{\beta}/{\beta}"-Al_2O_3$ 분말을 합성한 후 slip casting방법과 냉간정수압성형에 의하여 tube와 disk형을 각각 제작하였다. Slip casting은 40 wt%의 고체함량을 가지는 슬러리를 사용해 알루미나 몰드에서 이루어졌고 냉간정수압성형은 20 MPa의 압력하에서 수행되었다. 성형체들은 $1600^{\circ}C$, $1700^{\circ}C$, $1750^{\circ}C$에서 각각 소결하여 성형방법에 따른 상관계와 소결밀도를 조사하였다. 냉간정수압성형에 의한 시편이 $1700^{\circ}C$까지 ${\beta}"-Al_2O_3$의 상분율이 월등히 높은 반면, 소결밀도에 있어서는 slip casting방법의 경우가 다소 높았다. 소결 시 상대밀도는 $1750^{\circ}C$에서 1 h 경과 후, 두 경우 모두 약 83%를 나타내었다. 90 min 이상 소결하였을 때는 입자의 과대성장과 기공으로 인해 오히려 밀도가 낮아졌다.

  • 국내의 경우 슬러리나 페이스트 형태로 수압식 충전에 대한 연구와 다양한 폐광산 현장에 적용한 사례는 많으나, 공압식 충전에 대한 연구는 진행되지 않고 있다. 기존의 공압식 충전법은 강관의 구부러진 곳에서 충전재 유동에 의한 마모에 의해 강관의 손상이 발생한다. 이와 같은 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 새로 고안한 개량형 노즐을 이용한 공압식 충전법을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 접근이 가능하거나 불가능한 채굴공동을 모사하여 실험실에서 모형실험을 수행하고 그 충전효율을 평가하였다. 갱내 충전법 실험에서는 토출각의 변화, 모래의 투입량 및 입자 크기에 따라 충전효율을 분석하였으며, 지상 충전법 실험에서는 중력식, 재래식 및 개량형 충전방법의 실험으로부터 충전효율을 분석하여 개량형 공압식 충전법의 우수성을 입증하였다.
