고품질 내병 다수성 곰취 신품종 ‘곰마니’ 육성 (Breeding of ‘Gommany’ Cultivar of Gomchwi with Disease Resistant, High Quality, and Yield)

  • 쌈용 곰취 ‘곰마니(Gommany)’ 품종은 일반 곰취를 모본으로 하였으며 한대리곰취(Ligularia fischeri var. spiciformis Nakai)를 부본으로 하였다. 2005년에 인공 교배를 통해 종자를 얻었으며 2006년 3월에 파종하여 육묘후 포장에 정식하였다. 2007년 생육 및 수량특성 조사를 통해 일반적으로 많이 재배되는 곤달비 종보다 우수한 619번 개체를 선발하였다. 선발된 개체는 2008년부터 2011년까지 노지포장에서 증식하면서 고시 G-619호로 계통화되었으며 동시에 생육특성 검정을 실시하였다. ‘곰마니(Gommany)’ 품종의 특성은 엽병귀의 색이 곤달비가 연녹색인데 비해 자주색을 띠고 엽병에 곤달비는 털이 없으나 ‘곰마니’는 털이 약간 있다. 잎 뒷면에 곤달비와 같이 털은 없으나 ‘곰마니’ 품종은 광택이 없다. 또한 엽맥이 곤달비에 비하여 훨씬 조밀하였다. 또한 생육 및 수량특성은 초장이 47.7㎝, 엽장 16.3 ㎝, 엽폭 21.2 ㎝ 그리고 엽병장은 31.4 ㎝로 곤달비보다 컸다. 엽수는 138개로 곤달비보다 약간 많았고 수량은 1,575 ㎏/10a으로 곤달비보다 97% 많았다. 추대기는 8월 5일, 개화기는 9월 10일로 곤달비보다 25일정도 늦었다. 잎 두께는 곤달비보다 두꺼웠으며 잎 경도 또한 약간 높았다. 또한 ‘곰마니’ 품종은 흰가루병에 전혀 감염되지 않을 정도로 내병성이 강하였다. 이러한 특성의 ‘곰마니’품종은 2015년 12월 8일에 품종 보호권이 등록(품종보호 제90호)되었으며, 2016년부터 재배농가에 조직배양 묘로 보급하고 있다.

  • Gomchwi using stuffed leaves is many cultivated for 'Gondalbi(Ligularia stenocephala)' among Gomchwi species. 'Gondalbi' species like to be cultivation on farm because of low the incense and the bitter taste, and high yield. But 'Gondalbi' caused to curtail yield that susceptibility of powdery mildew disease and shriveling and death of plant on summer season. To solve this problems, we crossed a Gomchwi and 'Handeari-gomchwi' to have resistance of powdery mildew disease and high yield. A new Gomchwi cultivar 'Jinmani' was bred by crossing between Gomchwi (Ligularia fischeri (Ledeb.) Turcz.) and Handaeri-gomchwi (Ligularia fischeri var. spiciformis Nakai). The selection and investigation of growth and yield characteristics were conducted from 2007 to 2020 in field and greenhouse of Highland Agriculture Research Institute, NICS, Rural Development Administration. The color of petiole ear was purple. trichome of petiole and leaf back non-existed, and luster of leaf back existed. Density of leaf vein was 4 degree among 1-5 degree in a newly developed cultivar 'Jinmani'. Plant height, leaf length, leaf width and petiole length were 55.7, 21.8, 22.2, and 33.9 cm, respectively in the 2nd year of growth characteristics. Plant size was similar with that of 'Gommany'. Bolting and flowering time were Aug. 5 and Sept. 5, respectively, and Bolting and flowering time of 'Gommany' showed similar to Aug. 8 and Sept. 1, respectively. 'Jinmani' showed higher number of leaves (202 ea.) per plant compared to 'Gommany' (159 ea.). Furthermore, yield was 67.9% higher in 'Jinmani' (2,569 g/plant) than in 'Gommany' (1,530 g/plant). 'Jinmani' showed lower leaf thickness (0.66mm) than 'Gommany' (0.69 mm), and consequently showed more hardness in leaf characteristics (25.1 kg/2) compared to 'Gommany' (24.3kg/cm2). 'Jinmani' showed similar strong resistance compared to 'Gommany' in the susceptibility of powdery mildew disease.

Effect of the Cold Treatment Period on a Plant's Dormancy Breaking in the Winter Production of Gomchwi's New Varieties (Ligularia fischeri (Ledeb.) Turcz)

  • This study was conducted to determine the number of days required to break a plant's dormancy and promote subsequent crop growth in new varieties of Gomchwi through the 4℃ treatment. Three new varieties of Gomchwi namely, 'Sammany', 'Gommany', and 'Damogy' were observed in this study. The rate of leaf emergence of 'Sammany' after 15-day of 4℃ treatment was 100%, while 'Gommany', and 'Damogy' took 20-days and 10-days, respectively to reach to 97.9% rate of leaf emergence. After 10-days of 4℃ treatment, 'Damogy' grew faster than the other varieties. and Harvest time for 'Damogy' was on January 18th, after 5-days of 4℃ treatment and yield was observed to be the highest at 15-days of 4℃ treatment. 'Sammany' was next with a minimum of 10-days of 4℃ treatment, although 15-days is more preferred for better harvest. 'Gommany' on the other hand, did not grow enough for harvest by January 18th, and its harvest time was delayed to January 31st. It needed a minimum of 15-days and preferentially 20-days of 4℃ treatment to grow normally and be ready for harvest. The plant height, leaf length and leaf petiole length appeared to grow better by extending duration of the 4℃ treatment. The number of leaves of 'Sammany' and 'Gommany' varieties was three leaves for the 5-days treatment which may be due to the incomplete breaking of dormancy. Regarding the yield per plant, 'Sammany' yielded 112.3 grams (g) in 15-days treatment, and 'Gommany' yielded 106.5 g in 25-days treatment. In the case of 'Damogy', it yielded 123.5 g and 183 g in the 10-days and 25-days treatment respectively. It is concluded that 'Damogy', 'Sammany' and 'Gommany requires 10, 15, and 20 days of 4℃ treatment to break the plant's dormancy and promote better plant growth.

  • '그린베어(Greenbear)' 품종은 곰취를 모본으로 하고 한대리 곰취를 부본으로 해서 교배 육종을 하였다. 2007년부터 2016년까지 국립식량과학원 고령지농업연구소 하우스 및 노지에서 생육 및 수량 특성을 조사하고 선발을 수행하였다. '그린베어' 품종에 있어서 엽병귀 색은 자주색이고 엽병에 털이 없다. 그리고 잎 뒷면에 털이 없어 광택이 있다. 엽맥 밀도는 2등급으로 아주 넓은 편이다. 생육 특성은 초장이 67.3 cm, 엽장 16.3 cm, 엽폭 20.4 cm, 엽병장은 39.1 cm 였다. 식물체 크기는 '곰마니' 품종보다 전체적으로 작은 것으로 나타났다. 추대기는 8월 7일이었고, 개화기는 9월 6일로 '곰마니' 품종과 유사하였다. 엽수는 주당 176매로 '곰마니' 품종 139매 보다 37매나 많았다. 그리고 주당 수량도 1,936 g으로 '곰마니' 품종 1,575 g보다 23%정도 더 많았다. 잎의 경도는 25.1 kg/cm2, 잎의 두께는 0.66 mm로 '곰마니' 품종과 유사한 것으로 나타났다. '그린베어' 품종의 흰가루병 저항성은 '곰마니' 품종보다는 약간 낮지만 어느정도 높은 저항성을 보였다.

곰취 신품종의 고랭지재배시 수확시기별 생리활성 비교 (Comparative Study of Biological Activities at Different Harvesting Times and New Varieties for Highland Culture of Gom-chwi)

  • There has been little research on the harvesting time-dependent changes in the antioxidant activities of new varieties of highland cultures of Gomchwi (Ligularia fischeri) crossed with Turcs (Ligularia fischeri (Ledeb.)) and Nakai (Ligularia fischeri var. spiciformis), namely Sammany (S), Gommany (G) and Damogy (D). This study was conducted to assess the effect of different harvesting times on nutritional and health-related properties such as total phenolic contents, flavonoids, DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrasyl) free radical scavenging activities and reducing power. From these harvests, extracts were prepared using methanol. Total phenolic content in Jul 14-G (Gommany harvested on July 14, 0.172 ㎎·GAE/ml) was higher than that in other products harvested after the same period (S, 0.154; D, 0.141 ㎎·GAE/ml). Flavonoid content was higher in Jul 3-G (0.114 ㎎·QE/ml), compared to Jul 3-S (0.113 ㎎·QE/ml) and Jul 14-D (0.089 ㎎·QE/ml). Antioxidant activities were higher in samples harvested after June 12 in all cases. On July 14, the highest DPPH free radical scavenging activities among all harvest dates were seen (92.875~94.595%). The reducing power was also dependent on harvest day (Abs 0.5~0.6 on July 14), showing a pattern similar to that of DPPH free radical-scavenging activities. Antioxidant activity and harvesting times seem to correlate with total polyphenol and flavonoid contents.
