Purpose: To know the transmittance of light when wearing shading goggles and to protect eyes from blue light emitted from dental scanner when using CAD/CAM works or inducing polymerization reactions of dental resin with curing unit and infrared light occurred when melting Dental precious metal and non-precious metal alloys. Methods: By measuring and comparing the average transmittances of blue light, visible light and infrared ight by using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer analysis measuring instrument, I compared 3 GREEN Color Goggles worn when casting Dental precious metal and non-precious metal alloys, and compared each of YELLOW, ORANGE Color Goggles worn when using Dental CAD/CAM scanners and Light Curing(LED) the Dental resin. Results: In blue light range, YELLOW Color Goggles are more effective than ORANGE Color Goggles. In infrared light range, No.12 Goggles are more effective than No.10 and No.11 Goggles. Conclusion: When wearing blue light shading goggles to avoid harmful blue light occurred in using dental scanner and curing light, and when wearing infrared light shading goggles to avoid harmful infrared light during casting, to avoid the Side Effects like transmittance rate of blue light and infrared light goggles becomes too high to block appropriate amount of harmful light or too low that causing lower image clarity.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of blocking of blue light of the tips and goggles of the curing light during the dental treatment using the blue light of the light curing. The light curing tips and goggles were placed on a UV-Vis spectrometer and the results of light transmission were analyzed. Comparative analysis. As a result, all four types of light curing tips used in the analysis showed excellent blue light blocking effect. In the case of safety goggles, red-type goggles showed blue light transmittance similar to those of light curing than yellow-type goggles. As a result, it is recommended that the attachment of the light curing with high degree of blue light blocking and the wearing of safety glasses are necessary to protect the eyes. This behavior is thought to reduce persistent irritation and fatigue in the eyes.
Purpose: To investigate the visual function with prescription swimming goggles. Methods: 15 university students (mean age: $22{\pm}1.54$ years) participated, with a mean distance refractive error of RE: S-1.67 D/C-0.40 D, LE: S-1.70D/C-0.37 D. Inclusion criteria were no ocular pathology, able to wear soft contact lenses to correct their refractive error to emmetropia and able to swim. Participants were fitted with contact lenses to correct all ametropia. Subjective evaluation for satisfaction of visual acuity, asthenopia and balance were also measured using a questionnaire while wearing swimming goggles with cylinder (C+1.50 D, Ax $90^{\circ}$) compared with plano sphere outside the swimming pool area. Visual acuity was assessed using the same ETDRS chart. The prescription swimming goggles powers were assessed in random order and ranged in power from S+3.00 D to S-3.00 D in 0.50 D steps. Results: Subjective evaluation was significantly worse for the swimming goggles with cylinder than for the plano powered goggles for all 3 questions, visual acuity, asthenopia and balance. Visual acuity were significantly affected by the different power of the swimming goggles (p<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the in-air in-clinic and underwater in-swimming pool measures (p=0.173). However, visual acuity measured in the clinic was significantly better than underwater for some swimming goggle powers (+3.00, +1.00, +0.50, 0, -1.00 and -2.00 D). Conclusions: Wearing swimming goggles underwater may degrade the visual acuity compared to within air but as the difference is less than 1 line of Snellen acuity, and it is unlikely to result in significant real-life effects. Having an incorrect cylinder correction was found to be detrimental resulting in lower score of satisfaction. Considering slippery floor of swimming pool area, it can be a potential risk factor. Therefore, it is important to correct any refractive error in addition to astigmatism for swimming goggle.
Objective: This study compares two visual occlusion methods for the evaluation of in-vehicle interfaces. Background: Visual occlusion is a visual demand measuring technique which uses periodic vision/occlusion cycle to simulate a driving(or mobile) environment. It has been widely used for the evaluation of in-vehicle interfaces. There are two major implementation methods for this technique: (1) occlusion using PLATO(portable liquid crystal apparatus for tachistoscopic occlusion) goggles; (2) occlusion using a software application on a touchscreen device. Method: An experiment was conducted to examine the visual demand of an in-vehicle interface prototype using the goggle-based and the touchscreen-based occlusion methods. Address input and radio tuning tasks were evaluated in the experiment. Results: The results showed that, for the radio tuning task, there were no significant differences in total shutter open time and resumability ratio between the two occlusionconditions. However, it took longer for the participants to input addresses with the touchscreen-based occlusion. Conclusion & Application: The results suggest that touchscreen-based method could be used as an alternative to traditional, gogglebased visual occlusion especially in less demanding visual tasks such as radio tuning.
Objectives : The objectives of this study is to investigate the handwashing and use of personal protection equipment in dental hygienists and provide the basic data for dental infection control guideline. Methods : A questionnaire survey was performed in the dental hygienists who participated in the continuing education by the Daejeon City Commission in October 2012. The collected data were analyzed using PASW 18.0. Results : Handwashing was well practiced in group working for 3 to 5 years of employment. Those who took the infection cnotrol training used liquid soap, paper towel, dental mask, protective goggles, face shield, and gloves. Conclusions : Infection control is the most important practice in dental hygienists. So it is necessary to emphasize the inportnace of personal protection equipment including medical gloves, dental mask, and goggles.

This paper concerns about the requirement analysis for night vision imaging system(NVIS), whose purpose is to intensify the available nighttime near infrared(IR) radiation sufficiently to be caught by the human eyes on a miniature green phosphor screen. The requirements for NVIS are NVIS radiance(NR), chromaticity, daylight legibility/readability, etc. The NR is a quantitative measure of night vision goggle (NVG) compatibility of a light source as viewed through goggles. The chromaticity is the quality of a color as determined by its purity and dominant wavelength. The daylight legibility/readability is the degree at which words are readable based on appearance and a measure of an instrument's ability to display incremental changes in its output value. In this paper, the requirements of NR, chromaticity, and daylight legibility/readability for Type I and Class B/C NVIS are analyzed. Also the rationale is shown with respect to those requirements.
In this paper, we propose an accident-prevention smart monitoring system for Haenyeo(Woman diver) using Zigbee module and GPS sensor. This system can collect such information as the diving location, the body temperature, the depth of diving, and the diving time of a Woman diver working under the water and then respond immediately to an accident occurring. The research developed a smart Teawak and smart swimming goggles which can measure the state of a Woman diver and her diving activities. Smart Teawak, the buoy tool while a Woman diver is collecting seafoods under water, is able to receive GPS and transmit the data from smart swimming goggles and Zigbee Module to IHSS(IoT based Haenyeo Safety service Software) server. In addition, IHSS, a responsive web, provides the diving location and the state of a Woman diver on the smart phone. As a result, the system will be useful in the aspects of Woman diver' health care and the safety, furthermore, which will significantly contribute to global marketing of Woman diver with its being designated as a UNESCO intangible cultural asset.
Among brain CT scan conditions including the lens, the tube voltage was changed to 80, 100, and 120 kVp and applied. The change in dose was analyzed using lead, lead goggles and barium sulfate silicon shielding materials, and the degree of influence of the shielding materials on image quality was compared and analyzed by applying the SNR, CNR, and SSIM index analysis methods. As a result, it was analyzed that although the dose was reduced by applying all shielding materials, the difference in dose reduction was not large (P > 0.05). In addition, as for the change in image quality due to the application of the shielding material, SNR and CNR were the highest when lead goggles were applied, and the structural similarity was measured to be the best as it was closest to the reference value of 1 in SSIM analysis. Therefore, based on the results of this study, it is thought that if more diverse shielding materials and clinical test results are derived and applied, it will be helpful for the clinical application criteria in the case of shielding utilization inspection.
This study was aimed to investigate factors that affected the status of wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) for handling poultry carcasses with potential exposure to virulent avian infectious agents. A large outbreak of high pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) occurred in South Korea in 2014. Many public officers participated for euthanizing and handling livestock carcass. However, several safety issues with using PPE were revealed. Therefore, a questionnaire survey was conducted for 340 people who participated euthanasia and carcass disposal in the place where HPAI mainly occurred in 2014. It was found that 31.8% of the respondents had ever taken off their protective equipment during operations because of its inconvenience. The most inconvenient PPE was goggles (54.6%), followed by mask (20.2%), latex gloves (11.6%), shoe covers (5.9%) and protective clothing (5.3%). The main complaints about this individual PPE was unclear sight, damp emitted toward eye, sweating, tearing easily and sweating, respectively. Considering such problems of PPE, new possible directions for improvement of gloves and goggles were suggested. With newly developed rubber coating fabric gloves and conventionally using latex and fabric gloves, H3N2 influenza virus transmission experiment was conducted. Rubber coating fabric gloves showed similar efficiency for blocking virus transmission with latex laboratory gloves and were not easily torn by sharp claws of chicken. In addition, air flow control safety eyewear was suggested to minimize moisture formation. The air flow control system efficiently suppressed moisture formation inside the goggles. Therefore our study will provide more specific directions about new PPE development for safety protection of actual wearers.
