  • This study proposes a Web Decision Support System (DSS) as a new approach to resolving conflicts arising at the interface of production and marketing which have traditionally been in conflict with each other. Many researchers studied on the types and resolution mechanisms of conflicts among various organizations and organizational units. However, as global and distributed operations of firms based on the Internet become a commonplace business landscape, these conflict resolution mechanisms are found very difficult to be directly applied. From this perspective, the Web DSS proposed in this study can be claimed to be appropriate for the Internet-based distributed business operations. The current related literature on the production-marketing interface shows that the possible use of the Web DSS approaches has little been studied in spite of the decent amount of research conducted on the coordination of decision making between the two functions. This paper develops the architecture of the Web DSS and demonstrates its effectiveness based on the implementation results.

  • Marketing is said to be a zero sum game i.e. each gain of customer for a firm is always at the expense of some other firm's customers. Therefore in a marketplace churn is a natural occurrence. Churn in Indian telecom market is among the highest in growing telecom markets. By using binary logistics regression analysis based models based covering a sample of 822 Indian telecom subscribers; this paper attempts to examine the determinants of churn. The future churn is found to be dependent on satisfaction level of the customer with the service provider, attitude and loyalty of the customer variables, intended churn (i.e. intention to churn) and current loyalty (defined as intention to recommend) and distraction (i.e. intention to experiment).

  • The introduction of globalization has lead the marketing information systems(MkIS) to become a competitive weapon, since the MkIS are an important vehicle in the global market that supports firms in making decisions on the management of marketing-related activities. Yet there has been little investigation in Korea on the operation of MkIS. This paper replicates the research conducted in the U.S. on the operation of MkIS in the Korean environment, after a model on this operation is developed. Data were collected from firms in Korea, and research findings based on the analysis of these data were compared with those from the U.S. research. Based on this comparison, this paper suggestes a better way to address the problems Korean firms have and generates directions on future research in the operation of MkIS.

  • The widespread use of self-service concepts in retailing has resulted in increased attention to the design of retail environments and to stimuli operating at the point of sale. One such merchandising technique, the "bundled presentation", i.e., related products are presented in close proximity to each other, is widely used by retailers but has rarely been investigated by academic consumer researchers. This study presents the results of a field experiment into the effects of presenting products in their usage context. Customers' attitudes towards the same product displayed in different ways are compared with each other. The results show that related products, i.e., products that are used together, should be presented in a coordinated display. Furthermore, the bundled presentation enhanced consumers' attitudes of the product when they saw it first in a bundled presentation and then evaluated it in front of a traditional presentation.

  • The domestic food industry intends to expand overseas market. In order to succeed, in-depth research on local consumers is essential. This paper examined consumer research methodology and case studies based on sensory and consumer science for developing products targeting overseas market. Consumer research should be prece ded by overseas consumer panel construction. Then, this can be followed by application of various consumer research methodologies on new product development process. The most important consideration in this case is that application of same research methods or criteria as for domestic market could lead to significant errors in terms of reliability of results. Therefore, in order to develop successful products that accurately meet the needs of overseas consumers, careful study and consideration of the differences between markets would be essential from consumer researcher and decision-maker's sides.

  • Identifying factors that influence consumers' intentions to adopt a smartwatch has become a major research interest in marketing literature, yet little is known about it in dissimilar cultural settings. The current research employs a comparative study of South Korea and Indonesia, which differ in location and cultural heritage, smartwatch penetration rate, geographic size, level of income, and developmental stage as a country. An extended model of TAM is proposed, and PLS-SEM is employed to test the model on data collected from 262 respondents. The findings indicate that complementary goods and healthtology have positive influences on perceived usefulness and visibility has a positive influence on social image; these, together with perceived price value, lead to the behavioral intention to adopt a smartwatch in both countries. Perceived cost was only significant for Indonesia. Theoretical contributions and practical implications are further discussed.

  • Open innovation is based on a different knowledge landscape, with a different logic about the sources and uses of technologies. It implies that firms increasingly rely on external sources of innovation by emphasizing these ideas and resources. Using datasets from the UK biotechnology industry, this paper explores firms' willingness to participate in open innovation. The results indicate that the switching cost is identified as the direct predictor of the willingness to participate in open innovation. While high commitment based on the trust with partner increases switching costs, IT infrastructure within the firm decreases switching costs to open innovation. Taken together, this research broadens the study on open innovation by applying the switching cost as a medium of knowledge transfer in the biotech industry.

  • This study examines the linkage between Korean wave, corporate image and country image, perceived quality of products made in the country. To close a gap lacking empirical studies on impacts of corporate image to country image and to further understand impacts of Korean wave, this study conducts survey over Chinese consumers to test the effects of corporate image, Korean wave to the country image, and verify on its effects to perceived quality of the products made in the country. The results show that both corporate image and Korean wave influences to form positive country image of Korea, and perceived quality of Korean made products. The size of effects varies upon products type and stimuli. This study could provide policy makers insights how to promote country image as well as support SMEs for developing overseas markets. Also, it could give marketers valuable implications to develop effective global marketing strategies using cultural assets, country image and salient corporate image.
