Extended Information Overlap Measure Algorithm for Neighbor Vehicle Localization

  • Early iterations of the existing Global Positioning System (GPS)-based or radio lateration technique-based vehicle localization algorithms suffer from flip ambiguities, forged relative location information and location information exchange overhead, which affect the subsequent iterations. This, in turn, results in an erroneous neighbor-vehicle map. This paper proposes an extended information overlap measure (EIOM) algorithm to reduce the flip error rates by exchanging the neighbor-vehicle presence features in binary information. This algorithm shifts and associates three pieces of information in the Moore neighborhood format: 1) feature information of the neighboring vehicles from a vision-based environment sensor system; 2) cardinal locations of the neighboring vehicles in its Moore neighborhood; and 3) identification information (MAC/IP addresses). Simulations were conducted for multi-lane highway scenarios to compare the proposed algorithm with the existing algorithm. The results showed that the flip error rates were reduced by up to 50%.

  • This dissertation proposes a global search and a local search method to track the object in real-time. The global search recognizes a target object among the candidate objects through the entire image search, and the local search recognizes and track only the target object through the block search. This dissertation uses the object color and feature information to achieve fast object recognition. Finally we conducted an experiment for the object tracking system based on a pan/tilt structure.

Physiological Neuro-Fuzzy Learning Algorithm for Face Recognition

  • This paper presents face features detection and a new physiological neuro-fuzzy learning method by using two-dimensional variances based on variation of gray level and by learning for a statistical distribution of the detected face features. This paper reports a method to learn by not using partial face image but using global face image. Face detection process of this method is performed by describing differences of variance change between edge region and stationary region by gray-scale variation of global face having featured regions including nose, mouse, and couple of eyes. To process the learning stage, we use the input layer obtained by statistical distribution of the featured regions for performing the new physiological neuro-fuzzy algorithm.

  • 본 연구에서는 다단계 필터와 복합형 신경망을 사용하는 얼굴 검출 시스템에서 FMM 모델을 이용한 특징선정 기법을 소개한다. 색상, 모션 및 명암을 이용한 다단계 필터는 검출 대상 영역의 개수를 줄임으로써 시스템의 실시간 검출기능을 가능하게 한다. 신경망을 이용한 특징추출 단계에서는 대상영역의 기본 특징으로부터 일련의 특징지도를 생성하게 된다. 이 과정에서 패턴 분류 신경망의 입력으로 사용되는 특징집합이 지나치게 커짐으로써 신경망의 규모와 계산량이 방대해지는 단정을 갖는다. 이에 본 논문에서는 FMM 모델의 수정된 특성으로부터 특징과 각 클래스에 대한 상호 연관도 요소를 정의하고, 이로부터 특징의 상대적 중요도를 평가함으로써 성능의 저하 없이 최적의 특징집합을 선정하는 방법론을 소개한다.

  • Asia has 60% of the world population and only about 34.5% of the world arable land. However, Asians traditionally consume very large amount of horticultural produce and depend heavily on vegetables for the sources of horticultural food crop. The vegetable production in Asia is highly intensive and multiple and successive cropping are routinely practiced. Concomitant with the rapid economic growth in many east Asian countries, the demands for high-quality horticultural crop have been drastically increased among many Asians and their interest in high-quality products, outstanding cultivars, machinery and equipment, production technology has been sharply increased in recent years. It is therefore believed that establishing and maintaining closer and regular relations among scientists and societies could provide an excellent momentum for promotion of horticulture on a global basis and both the ISHS and the ASHS could play decisive roles for this kind of promotion.

  • 본 논문에서는 영상의 화소값으로부터 추출된 유사 특징점(quasi-feature point)을 이용한 이미지 모자이킹 알고리즘을 제안한다. 유사 특징점의 선택은 전역 정합(global matching)의 결과로부터 중첩된 영역을 4개의 부영역(sub-area)으로 분할하고, 각각의 분할된 부 영역에서 국부 분산(local variance)의 크기가 큰 블록을 선정, 이 블록의 중심 화소를 유사 특징점으로 선택한다. 유사 특징점에 대한 정합은 카메라 이동에 따른 왜곡(distortion)과 조명의 변화를 고려한 블록 정합 알고리즘(block matching algorithm)을 이용한다.

  • An experimental study has been carried on high-preheated temperature air combustion. Because the flames with high-preheated temperature air combustion were much more stable and homogeneous(both temporally and spatially) as compared to the room-temperature combustion air. The global flame feature showed range of flame colors (yellow, blue, blurish-green) over the range of conditions. Low level of NOx along with low level of CO have been obtained under high-preheated air combustion conditions. The thermal and chemical behavior of high-preheated air combustion flames depends on preheated temperature and oxygen concentration air.

  • 멀티미디어 정보검색 중 내용 기반 영상검색은 색상, 질감, 형태 등의 영상 내용 특징들을 이용하여 검색하는 방법으로, 색상과 질감 특징을 이용한 검색 시스템이 일반적으로 널리 소개되고 있다. 그러나 형태가 서로 다른 영상에서는 색상과 질감 특징에 의한 검색 방법은 유사 영상검색에서 오류를 수반할 수 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 영상의 윤곽선 에 의한 전역 형태 특징으로 허용 가능한 범주 이내로 유사도 영상을 필터링한 후 형태정보의 히스토그램을 이용하여 유사도 검색을 함으로써 정확도를 놀일 수 있는 시스템을 개발한다.

  • This paper represents a survey of a variety thresholding techniques including both global and local thresholding. Several thresholding methods are examined in detail to evaluate their performance based on a given set of test images.
