This paper proposes an efficient method of hydro-thermal scheduling in coordination with head variation and hydraulically coupled plants using Evolutionary Programing(EP). Based on the EP technique, the proposed algorithm is capable of determining the global optimal solutions. The constraints such a power balance condition, water available condition and transmission losses are embedded and satisfied throughout the proposed EP approach. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is demonstrated on the test systems and compared to those of other method. The results show that the new approach obtains a more highly optimal solutions than the conventional other methods such as newton-raphson method, Dynamic Programming(DP), LU factorization.

This work proposes an optimality criteria applicable to the optimum design of plane frames. Stress constraints as well as displacement constraints are treated as behavioural constraints and thus the first order approximation of stress constraints is adopted. The design space of practical reinforced concrete frames with discrete design variables has been found to have many local minima, and thus it is desirable to find in advance the mathematical minimum, hopefully global, prior to starting to search a practical optimum design. By using the mathematical minimum as a trial design of any search algorithm, we may not full into a local minimum but apparently costly design. Therefore this work aims at establishing a mathematically rigorous method ⑴ by adopting first-order approximation of constraints, ⑵ by reducing the design space whenever minimum size restrictions become "active" and ⑶ by the of Newton-Raphson Method.
Sports scene is characterized by large amount of global motion due to pan and zoom of camera motion, and includes many small objects moving independently. Some short period of sports games is thrilling to televiewers, and important to producers. At the same time that kinds of scenes exhibit exceptionally dynamic motions and it is very difficult to analyze the motions with conventional algorithms. In this thesis, several algorithms are proposed for global motion analysis on these dynamic scenes. It is shown that proposed algorithms worked well for motion compensation and panorama synthesis. When cascading the inter frame motions, accumulated errors are unavoidable. In order to minimize these errors, interpolation method of motion vectors is introduced. Affined transform or perspective projection transform is regarded as a square matrix, which can be factorized into small amount of motion vectors. To solve factorization problem, we preposed the adaptation of Newton Raphson method into vector and matrix form, which is also computationally efficient. Combining multi frame motion estimation and the corresponding interpolation in hierarchical manner enhancement algorithm of motion parameters is proposed, which is suitable for motion compensation and panorama synthesis. The proposed algorithms are suitable for special effect rendering for broadcast system, video indexing, tracking in complex scenes, and other fields requiring global motion estimation.

This paper proposes an image stabilization algorithm for close watching UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) using motion separation and stabilization mode. The motion of UAV is composed of its actual navigating motion and unwanted vibrating motion so that image sequences obtained from UAV are shaken randomly. In order to stabilize these images we separate the vibrating motion component from UAV motion and remove the effect caused by it from image sequences. In the proposed algorithm the motion and global intensity change of two consecutive images are modeled with 6 motion parameters and 2 intensity change parameters respectively. These modeled parameters are estimated by non-linear least square method based on Gauss-Newton algorithm. The vibrating motion component is separated from the estimated motion using IIR filtering and the geometric deformation caused by it is removed from image sequences. In order to apply the proposed method to real aerial image sequences with many abrupt changes of camera view, we proposed a stabilizing method using two different modes named as stabilizing and non-stabilizing mode. Experimental results show that the accuracy of motion estimation is 99% and the efficiency of removing the vibrating motion component is 90%. We apply the proposed method to real aerial image sequences and verified its stabilizing performance.
Deterministic optimization, commonly used to find the geophysical inverse solutions, have its limitation that it cannot find the proper solution since it might converge into the local minimum. One of the solutions to this problem is to use global optimization based on a stochastic approach, among which a large number of particle swarm optimization (PSO) applications have been introduced. In this paper, I developed a geophysical inversion algorithm applying PSO method for the layered-earth resistivity inversion of the small-loop electromagnetic (EM) survey data and carried out numerical inversion experiments on synthetic datasets. From the results, it is confirmed that the PSO inversion algorithm could increase the inversion success rate even when attempting the inversion of small-loop EM survey data from which it might be difficult to find a best solution by applying the Gauss-Newton inversion algorithm.

One of the main noise sources in cabin onboard ships is HVAC system. Up to now, the HVAC system designer manually calculates the HVAC system noise, or uses the program that is generally based on text user interface. In such a case, it is difficult to use the program and also to obtain the flow induced noise. In this study, the HVAC noise analysis program has been developed, which is based on GUI user interface that include 3.D modelling and model modification modules. For calculation of the insertion loss of HVAC system elements, NEBB experimental data and plane wave theory are used. And in order to obtain the flow rate information in each HVAC elements which is used to calculate the flow induced noise calculation, Global Converging Newton-Rapson Method is used.

MDO (multidisciplinary design optimization) technology has been proposed and applied to solve large and complex optimization problems where multiple disciplinaries are involved. In this research. an MDO problem is defined for automobile design which has crashworthiness analyses. Crash model which are consisted of airbag, belt integrated seat (BIS), energy absorbing steering system .and safety belt is selected as a practical example for MDO application to vehicle system. Through disciplinary analysis, vehicle system is decomposed into structure subspace and occupant subspace, and coupling variables are identified. Before subspace optimization, values of coupling variables at given design point must be determined with system analysis. The system analysis in MDO is very important in that the coupling between disciplines can be temporary disconnected through the system analysis. As a result of system analysis, subspace optimizations are independently conducted. However, in vehicle crash, system analysis methods such as Newton method and fixed-point iteration can not be applied to one. Therefore, new system analysis algorithm is developed to apply to crashworthiness. It is conducted for system analysis to determine values of coupling variables. MDO algorithm which is applied to vehicle crash is MDOIS (Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Based on Independent Subspaces). Then, structure and occupant subspaces are independently optimized by using MDOIS.
The present study was carried out to examine flow properties in linear drainage channels such as road surface drainage facilities. The finite difference formulation for the varied flow analysis was solved for flow profiles in the channels. Starting the first step at the control section, the Newton-Raphson method was applied for producing numerical solutions of the equation. We considered two types of linear drainage channels, a channel with one outlet at downstream end and a channel with two outlets at both ends. Moreover, the flow analysis for various channel slopes was performed. However, we considered channels with the two outlets of slopes satisfying the condition that the both ends are the control section. The maximum of those slopes was decided from the relation between the channel slope and the location of control section. The flow of a channel with one outlet was calculated upward and downward from the control section existing in channel or upward from the control section at downstream end. The flow of a channel with two outlets at both ends were calculated for upstream and downstream channel segments divided by the water dividend, respectively and the flow analysis was completed when the water depth at the water dividend calculated from upstream end was equal to that calculated from downstream end. If the slope was larger than the critical slope, the channel with two outlets was likely to behave like the channel with one outlet. The maximum water depth was investigated and compared with that calculated additionally from the uniform flow analysis. The uniform flow analysis was likely to lead a excessive design of a drainage channel with mild slope.
The physical-based and lumped-parameter hydrologic groundwater flow model for predicting the rainfall-triggered rise of groundwater levels in hillside slopes is developed in this paper to assess the risk of landslides. The developed model consists of a vertical infiltration model for unsaturated zone linked to a linear storage reservoir model(LSRM) for saturated zone. The groundwater flow model has uncertain constants like soil depttL slope angle, saturated permeability, and potential evapotranspiration and four free model parameters like a, b, c, and K. The free model parameters could be estimated from known input-output records. The BARD algorithm is uses as the parameter estimation technique which is based on a linearization of the proposed model by Gauss -Newton method and Taylor series expansion. The application to examine the capacity of prediction shows that the developed model has a potential of use in forecast systems of predicting landslides and that the optimal estimate of potential 'a' in infiltration model is the most important in the global optimum analysis because small variation of it results in the large change of the objective function, the sum of squares of deviations of the observed and computed groundwater levels.
