  • Recently, as change in global logistics environment, various issues have been presenting. These issues are including the pursuit of low cost-high added value, the realization of sustainable logistics system, the protection of environment, and the development of ubiquitous techniques. To cope with these environment changes and improve the national logistics system, the government have carried out various logistics policies and pushed ahead development of national logistics information network. But still, from a view-point of national logistics, there are several inefficient elements such as information connection and utilization, code/data standardization. In this paper, the survey result of global logistics environment change, logistics policy of a developed countries, domestic logistics policy and information system status will be presented. And from these status, suggestive points are mentioned. Finally the status of railway logistics information and future developments are presented.

E-logistics connects e-business to internal and external information system by using WMS, TMS, and OMS. The paper focuses on analyzing the efficiency of the tope fifty Global Logistics Providers. Therefore, the study classifies the factors which specify the efficiency of a total logistics industry and verified its firmness. Furthermore, the most recently published reports by Logistics Quarterly and Armstrong Association in 2011 was used in order to guarantee credibility of the study. This study utilizes three years of materials, from 2007, 2008, 2009 on publish 2010, for scope period for analysis. By applying SBM (Slack Based Measure) & the DEA Window model, the trend in efficiency and stableness was analyzed. Consequently, the main purpose of the paper is evaluating the efficiency. Also, analyzing its determinants and illustrating a long-term relationship between the annual turnover and major shippers was used as output measures. In addition, the number of information system operations, the grade of information systems, and employee of Logistics Providers was used as input measures.

  • The modem world has brought a wave of changes, not the least of which is globalization or what is often referred to as the "borderless society." In recent times, changes in the global business environment, such as trade deregulation and advances in technology, are challenging us to find new ways of thinking about and coping with these new forces. The field of global logistics has encountered a host of paradigm shifts as well. Therefore, it is critical that managers involved in international logistics take into account perceptional swift or at least understand the value of fully utilizing information. The appropriate management of human resources is a key factor in dealing with not only new information technology, but also shifts in the business environment. In particular, it will be important for Korea's logistics managers at international logistics companies to continually work to develop themselves, as they must carry out a critical role in global supply chain management. If they fail to take heed of the demand's of the new environment, the competitiveness of Korean enterprises in international logistics will suffer severely.

  • This paper provide a framework for an IGILMS(internet-based global integrated logistics management system) which can access and mediate cargo transportations among small- and medium-sized domestic/international logistics corporations as regards cargo, registration and search for space, public tender and negotiation, contract, payment and safety-guarantee, transportation through the internet, wireless communication means, or smart phone etc. In addition, we describe a model to provide customized services in the B2B e-market for IGILMS and the structure and the control of its fulfillment process, and provide technical architecture of the IGILMS for an internet-based global logistics management system. To validate an efficiency of the proposed system, we develop a simulation model and analyze the performance of the proposed system.

  • Global firms are seeking to implement their global logistics strategies in two ways: the use of centralized inventories and/or postponement of final assembly. These strategies stress the importance of regional logistics centers. In most cases, regional logistics centers are located in or near ports so that changing demands can be met with economy, reliability and flexibility, The port can profit not only from the activities of logistics center itself, but also the increasing flow of cargo through the logistics center. A number of ports respond to this trend by shifting their emphasis from traditional cargo-handling services to value-added services. This paper presents guidelines drawn from the best practices of ports to be successful logistics centers to provide many aspects of value-added logistics services. These include: Effective Planning and Development of Logistics Centers; Institutional Incentive Scheme; Development of Free Trade Zones; Financing Infrastructure related to Logistics Centers; Developing Logistics Service Providers and Logistics Professionals; Development of Information Technology; and Regulatory and Administrative Issues. These guidelines will help managers of ports and policy makers of governments in the East Asian region learn to recognize, analyze and adopt the best practices for use.
