Determination on the Optimal Sealing Conditions of the Vacuum Glass Edge Parts using Design of Experiments Technique (실험계획법에 의한 진공유리의 모서리부 최적 접합공정조건 결정)

  • The glass edge sealing is one of the vacuum glazing core manufacturing process and it needs the high reliability for the vacuum keeping. Conventionally, the glass edge sealing had been being researched by the method that pasted the flit on the glass edge part and bonded two sheets of glass. But this way has the defect that can't make tempered glass. In order to remedy it's faults, in this paper, the glass edge was sealed by using the hydrogen mixture gas torch within the furnace. The parameter having an effect on the glass edge sealing through the basic test was set. And the correlation of the thickness of the glass edge and parameter were analyzed through the design of experiment. By using the Taguchi method, the optimal process condition for the glass edge sealing was drawn and the validity was verified.

A study of minimizing edge chipping of coverglass using MR Polishing (MR Polishing을 이용한 커버글라스의 굽힘강도 향상에 관한 연구)

  • Coverglass of electronic equipments is thinner and slimmer, so the glass must have good bending strength. In these days, the polishing edge of glass is used by solid tool like grinding wheel. But solid tool leave micro crack or edge chipping in edge of glass. MR polishing is an optimal method by polishing edge of glass. MR polishing is used MR fluid that is a liquid tool. MR polishing doesn't leave tool path or residual stress, micro crack and edge chipping unlike grinding wheel polishing. In this paper, the results of grinding and MR polishing were compared and analyzed to improve bending strength by minimizing edge chipping of cover glass. It was derived that the depth and size of cracks have a significant influence on the bending strength of the glass edge. The edges of the glass using MR grinding were analyzed to have a better surface and higher bending strength than the glass using abrasive wheel grinding. It was confirmed that MR polishing had an effect on strength improvement by effectively removing cracks in the specimen.

Mathematical Model of the Edge Sealing Parameters for Vacuum Glazing Panel Using Multiple Regression Method (다중회귀분석법을 이용한 진공유리패널 모서리 접합부와 공정변수간의 수학적 모델 개발)

  • The concern about vacuum glass is enhanced as society gets greener and becomes more concerned about energy savings due to the rising cost of oil. The glass edge sealing process needs the high reliability among the main process for the vacuum glass development in order to maintain between the two glass by the vacuum. In this paper, the process of the edge sealing was performed by using the hydrogen mixture gas which is the high density heat source unlike the traditional method glass edge sealing by using the frit as the soldering process. The ambient temperature in the electric furnace was set in the edge sealing to prevents the thermal impact and transformation of the glasses and the temperature distribution uniformity was measured. The parameter of the edge sealing was set through the basic test and the mathematical relation with the area of the glass edge parts according to the parameter was drawn using the multiple regression analysis method.

Effect of Polishing Grinding Conditions on Alkali-free Glass (무 알칼리 유리의 연마 조건에 따른 영향)

  • Owing to the introduction of various IT devices with emphasis on portability and design, the TFT (thin film transistor liquid crystal display) panel applied to IT devices has the same shape as the product, and the portability requirement of IT devices has resulted in a need for panels with higher rigidity. In this study, the effect of grinding conditions such as the feed rate and edge speed of edge grinding on the surface roughness and chipping of the machined surface is investigated using a metal bond wheel. During edge grinding of alkari-free glass, weak mechanical property of glass results in big chipping owing to generation of tensile stress at the end of grining operation. The results of this study show that the grinding characteristics of alkali-free glass are obtained and meet industry requirements.

Prediction of the Edge Sealing Shape on the Vacuum Glazing Using the Nonlinear Regression Analysis (비선형회귀분석을 이용한 진공유리 모서리 접합단면 형상예측)

  • While using the hydrogen mixture gas torch, the glass edge sealing and the shape of the edge sealing parts is affected by many parameters such as flow rate of gas, traveling speed of torch, distance between glass and torch. As the glass edge sealing shape have effects on the insulation and airtightness and strength of the glass panel; the sealing shapes are predicted according to the process parameters. The paper highlight the nonlinear regression equations of the cross-sectional shape of the sealing shape according to the parameters, that is experimentally predicted later compared and verified the equation with the experimental result.

  • In this paper, we develops a domestic and foreign first reinforced cover glass grinding process for large surface TPS and resolves a problem of conventional cover glass grinding process through a research. Also, it is developed in priority to improve a productivity and processing quality emphasis. The development process develops a total process technology through a production and operation of demonstration unit. so, in this paper, we secured cover glass grinding process technology, image processing technology, mechanisms and control algorithms.
