The Small-Unit Riverine Craft (SURC) is a small high-speed vessel used by navies and marine corps in relatively shallow waterway environments, such as riverine areas or littoral coasts. In the past, SURCs have primarily been rigid-hulled inflatable boats constructed using composite materials such as glass fiber reinforced plastics. More recently, single-hull SURCs have been manufactured using aluminum for weight reduction. In this study, a Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) material was applied instead to examine its feasibility in the basic design of an SURC with a hull length of 10 m. The CFRP structural design was obtained using the properties of a marine CFRP laminate, determined in a previous study. Next, the designed CFRP SURC was modeled to confirm its functionality, then compared with existing aluminum SURCs, indicating that the CFRP SURC was 41.49 % lighter, reduced fuel consumption by 30 %, and could sail 50 NM further for every hour of engine operation. A method for reducing the high cost of carbon fiber was also proposed based on the adjustment of the carbon fiber content to provide the optimum strength where required. The data developed in this study can be used as a basis for further design of CFRP craft.
The relationship between rice and the fluid during cooking was investigated to examine the factors affecting the quality of cooked rice and a new rice cooking method was proposed to improve the unpalatability of aged Milyang 23-long grain rice variety. The changes of heights of rice-bed and the fluid during cooking were measured with a laboratory cooking apparatus made of flat bottomed graduated glass cylinder. Around the boiling, a sudden disappearance of the fluid was observed and then thin film was formed on the rice grains. This film coating was fortified by the addition of 1-2%(w/w) of glutinous rice powder as a film forming agent. The artificial coating on the cooked rice of low quality remarkably improved the gloss, moisture content and shape and the extent of leaching of rice solid into the fluid was reduced with the treatment.
In this work, flame retardant acrylic emulsion pressure sensitive adhesives were newly polymerized combining phosphorous flame retardant monomer and acrylic monomer like butyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate. The process of polymerization showed 100% of conversion at solid content of 65%, and viscosity of acrylic emulsion was increased up to 5500 cps when phosphorous flame retardant monomer was added into acrylic emulsion. The structure of flame retardant acrylic emulsion was identified using FT-IR and thermal properties like glass transition temperature (Tg) were checked by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). Acrylic emulsion without phosphorous flame retardant monomer had Tg of -44.1℃ and peel strength of 2,100gf/inch, however, flame retardant acrylic emulsion showed maximum Tg (-31.4℃) and peel strength of 200gf/inch when 15 part of phosphorous flame retardant monomer was added. Flammability test was also conducted to confirm the application of flame retardant acrylic emulsion as the flame retardant addtive.
For the preparation of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), the copolymerization of ethylene and 1-butene was carried out with various catalysts of titanium alkoxidealkylaluminum compound in slurry phase. The effects of catalyst components, aging time, concentration of catalyst components, polymerization time and temperature on the catalytic activity and copolymer composition were examined. The properties of copolymer obtained were also considered with the correlation to the 1-butene contents. It has been found that the titanium tetra-n-butoxide-diethylaluminum chloride catalyst system was the most suitable for the production of LLDPE with higher catalytic activity, more 1-butene content and less soluble parts. The density, glass transition temperature, melting point and heat of fusion of copolymer were decreased with increasing 1-butene contents.

Ag paste has been used in the front electrode of the Si-solar cell. It is composed by Ag powder, glass frit, binder, solvent and dispersant. The role of the binder and the solvent is to make a flow and a printing property. However, it was not enough to report the printing properties with the variation of binder in the controled viscosity. In this study, we selected 3 kinds of typical binder which were used as binder for the paste in the industry, such as Ethyl cellulose, Hydroxypropyl cellulose and Acrylic. Ag pastes using these were prepared, controled viscosity and printed on the SiNx coated Si wafer. In the 'A paste' used Acrylic binder, printed hight was highest and 'H paste' used Hydroxypropyl cellulose binder was lowest. Because 'H paste' was high viscosity due to the molecular weight, the solvent was added in the paste to control the viscosity. Therefore, the content of solid was lower in 'H paste'. The relative pattern width which is related to the spreading of paste was the best in the case of 'H paste' and 'EH paste' at $30^{\circ}C$. It is thought that the optimization of the relative pattern width is possible for a paste by the controling shear thinning phenomenon. In the case of 'A paste', though printing hight was best, the pattern width was dependant on the temperature.

The different concentration Indium doped ZnO:Al films were grown on glass substrates (Corning 1737) at $200^{\circ}C$ by pulsed laser deposition. The indium doping in AZO films shows the critical effect on the crystallinity, resistivity, and optical properties of the films. The AZO films doped with 0.3 atom % indium content exhibit the highest crystallinity, the lowest resistivity of $4.5\times10^{-4}\Omega$-cm, and the maximum transmittance of 93%. The resistivity of the indium doped-AZO films is strongly related with the crystallinity of the films. The carrier concentration in the indium doped-AZO films linearly increases with increasing indium concentration. The mobility of the AZO films with increasing indium concentration was reduced with an increase in carrier concentration and the decrease in mobility was attributed to the ionized impurity scattering mechanism. In an optical transmittance, the shift of the optical absorption edge to shorter wavelength strongly depends on the electronic carrier concentration in the films.
Hardness of rubbery materials, which is important for dimensional stability and product performance, was investigated upon temperature change in this study. A newly developed IRHD (International Rubber Hardness Degree) tester was used to measure the hardness changes of NR and SBR specimens at various temperatures and the hardness values were compared with the Young's modulus. The harness and Young's modulus of NR and SBR showed an abrupt change near the glass transition temperatures. The hardness and Young's modulus were increased by increasing temperature due to the increased random chain conformation of molecules. The effect of temperature on hardness and Young's modulus of NR and SBR specimens filled with carbon black and silica was decreased by increasing filler content.
Nylon 12 elastomer was slightly crosslinked in molten state by the addition of small amount of dicumyl peroxide (DCP) as a crosslink agent and triallycyanuate (TAC) as a co-agent during melt compounding at $160^{\circ}C$ in an internal mixer. The effect of the peroxide crosslinking on mechanical, dynamic mechanical and rheological properties of the nylon 12 elastomer was investigated by means of tensile testing, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and small amplitude oscillating rheometer, respectively. With modification, there is an improvement in tensile modulus and Young's modulus with decease in elongation at break. DMA results for peroxide modified nylon 12 elastomers demonstrated that the glass transiaiton temperature of PTMG segment shifted to higher temperature and the storage modulus remained constant above the melting temperature of nylon 12 segments. Melt rheological studies revealed that the peroxide modified nylon 12 elastomer exhibited a more solid like behavior and stronger shear thinning behavior compared to neat nylon 12 elastomer, which was more prominent at higher TAC content in the polymer matrix. The peroxide modified nylon 12 elastomer exhibited good elastic recoverability and improved mechanical properties without sacrificing melt processibilty, and especially the service temperature range increased as compared to neat nylon 12 elastomer.
-ray fluorescence analysis of $Ta_2O_5$, $Nb_2O_5$ and $ZrO_2$ in tin-slag samples using the simple dilution method was studied. The method is to correct mathematically the calibration curve to the linear line by the dilution. One synthesized standard having similar composition to the sample and tin slag samples were diluted with anhydrous $Li_2B_4O_7$ at the level of 1%, 2% and 3% of the sample content respectively. The diluted samples were fused at $1150^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes and these glass beads were finely ground and pelletized. Measuring the X-ray intensities with these pellets, analytical results were calculated by the equation derived from J. Scherman's equation for the characteristic X-ray intensity of an element. Analytical results agreed with the reference values obtained by the standard calibration method within allowable error range and were reproducible.
X-ray spectrometric determination of $Ta_2O_54, $Nb_2O_5$ and $ZrO_2$ in tin-slag samples using the double dilution technique was conducted. Tin-slag samples and one synthesized standard sample having similar composition to the samples were diluted with anhydrous $Li_2B_4O_7$ at the level of 1.00, 2.00 and 3.00% of the sample content, respectively. The diluted samples were fused at $1,150^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes, and these glass beads were finely ground and pelletized. With the X-ray intensities measured, analytical results were calculated by the double dilution equation. The results agreed to the reference values obtained by the standard calibration method and the simple dilution technique within allowable error range and were reproducible.
