Unsaturated Polyester Resin (UPR) is in general used as a resin to prepare for composite materials with reinforcing materials such as glass fibers. UPR, a thermosetting resin, is used in industry to prepare for sheet molding compound (SMC) molding prepreg that has excellent productivity and is advantageous for mass production among various molding methods of composite materials. The fiber-reinforced composite material using UPR as a matrix material is light and has the advantage of excellent physical properties, but it is weak against impact and is fragile. Four types of polyurethane were synthesized and added to UPR resin to overcome the shortcomings.

It was researched to be alternative of TGIC type hardener with human hazard element as PT 910 mix powder paint with hardener. Generally PT 910 was compared with TGIC & Epoxy resin of hardener to be used at thermosetting powder paint. We inquired a property of matter for paint through Gel time, glass transition temperature, melting point and a property of matter for film through a property of adhesion, a property of tolerance, softness, gloss, acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, salt water spray-resistant, facilitation climatic. When PT 910 is used of hardener, it was shown the excellent results in gel time, softness, salt water spray-resistant, fracilitation climatic and the similar results in melting point, a property of tolerance, a property of adhesion, gloss, acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, as compared with the powder paint used by TGIC hardener. The glass transition temperature was little low. But there was slightly different results. After the study results, we reached the conclusion that thermosetting powder used by PT 910 is alterative to by TGIC hardener.
The effects of temperature and initial crack length on impact fracture behavior of side plate material of 35 ton class FRP ship, which are composed by glass fiber and unsaturated polyester resin, were investigated. Impact fracture toughness of GF/PE composites displayed maximum value when the temperature of specimen is room temperature and $50^{\circ}C$, and with decrease in temperature of specimen, impact fracture toughness decreased. Impact fracture energy of GF/EP composites decreased with increase in initial crack length of specimen, and this value decreased rapidly when the temperature of specimen is lowest, $-25^{\circ}C$,. It is believed that sensitivity of notch on impact fracture energy were increased with decrease in temperature of specimen. As the GF/EP composites exposed in low temperature, impact fracture toughness of composites decreased gradually owing to the decrease of interface bonding strength caused by difference of thermal expansion coefficient between the glass fiber/polyester resin. Further, decrease of interface bonding strength of composites with decrease in specimen temperature was ascertained by SEM photograph of impact fracture surface.

This study was performed to evaluate engineering properties of carbon and glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete. Fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were used recycled aggregate as coarse aggregate, natural aggregate as fine aggregate, $CaCO_3$ as filler, unsaturated polyester resin as binder, and carbon and glass fiber as fibers. The compressive and flexural strength of carbon fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were in the range of 68~81.5 MPa and 19.1~21.5 MPa at the curing 7days. Also, the compressive and flexural strength of glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were in the range of 69.4~85.1 MPa and 19~20.1 MPa at the curing 7days. Abrasion ratio of carbon and glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete were decreased 21.6 % and 11.6 % by fiber content 0.9 %, respectively. After impact resistance test, drop numbers of initial and final fracture were increased with increase of fiber contents. Accordingly, carbon fiber and glass fiber reinforced recycled polymer concrete will greatly improve the hydraulic structures, underground utilities and agricultural structures.
The PET-PEN copolymers have been synthesized and the effect of their morphology on the physical properties of polyester flexible substrate was investigated. It was found that the block sequence of synthesized copolymer was varied depending upon DMT/NDC ratio in polymerization. Higher PET-PEN and PEN block sequence in polyester copolymer resulted in the increase of glass transition temperature and it caused the enhancement of dimensional stability as a polyester flexible substrate. The highest coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) was obtained when DMT/NDC ratio is 50/50. Synthesized PET-PEN copolymer seems to be acceptable as a flexible substrate since it shows that their optical transmittance at 550 nm is over 80% and thermal weight loss at $280^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr is less than 0.4 wt%.
A series of amorphous polyesters were synthesized from amorphous polyether and sebacoyl chloride. The structure and competition of the obtained aliphatic polyester were confirmed by $^1$H-NMR and FT-IR. The number average molecular weights (M$_{n}$) of the obtained polymer were ranging from 8000 ~ 15000. These polyesters showed no crystallinity and their glass transition temperatures (T$_{g}$) were around -77$^{\circ}C$. For comparison, aliphatic polyesters were also synthesized from poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with M$_{n}$ of 200, 400, and 1000. As the M$_{n}$ of PEG increased, the melting point of the obtained polyester increased, and the crystallinity of the obtained polyester increased showing 8.8%, 16.2%, and 46.7%, respectively.ively.y.
In this study, sebacic acid made from castor oil was used as monomer with isophthalic acid and glycols for polyester polyol synthesis. Polyurethane adhesive was synthesized from the various polyester polyol. From the result of adhesion strength test, polyester polyol made from sebacic acid showed better adhesive force than that of adipic acid due to higher cohesive energy. Branched glycol containing methyl group represented better adhesion than linear glycol. In the chain extender, adhesion strength increased going from PG, EG, BD. From the measurement of TGA, BD showed the best heat stability, and followed by PG, EG. Glass transition temperature increased in the order PG, EG, BD by the result of DMA.

The friction between soils and the geosynthetics varies depending upon the types and characteristics of the involved materials. Many engineers have studied the frictional characteristics between the two materials in may way but the results obtained so far is not satisfactory. In this study the frictional characteristics between the soil and the geogrid were examined through laboratory direct shear test and pull-out test. Tests were conducted on two different types of geogrid: Polyester grids(PET) which are currently used and newly developed fiber-glass grids(FG). Result showed that FG grid yielded smaller displacements and uniform displacement distribution mainly due to much higher stiffness. Therefore, it is expected that more efficientbfl support and displacement control can be achieved by the FG grid.

In the present paper, glass fibers are substituted partially with monofilament fishnet and polyester matrix for making the composites. The composite specimens were prepared in accordance with ASTM for analyzing the flexural strength and dynamic mechanical properties. Furthermore, machinability revealed the interaction of glass fiber and partial substituted monofilament fishnet fiber with the matrix. Fiber pullouts on the fractured specimen during the physical testing of the composites are also investigated by COSLAB microscope. The results reveal that the fishnet based composites have appreciably higher flexural properties. Furthermore, the glass fiber, woven roving and fishnet composite has more storage modulus and significant mechanical damping. The composite specimens were fabricated by hand lay-up method. Hence, these composites are the possible applications to develop the value added products. The results of this study are presented.

Six aromatic polyesters with ether-linkages were prepared from 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid) and naphthalenediol (ND) isomers which were 1,4-, 1,5-, 1,6-, 2,3-, 2,6- and 2,7-derivatives. The solution viscosity numbers ranged from 0.23 to 0.65 dL/g. The glass transition temperatures ranged from 142 to 179$\^{C}$. The initial decomposition temperatures were all above 400$\^{C}$, and the residue weights at 600$\^{C}$ were in the range of 50-64%. Only the polyesters derived from 1,5- and 2,6-NDs, which have a linear linking mode, were found to be semicrystalline and could form thermotropically nematic phase. Multiple melting phenomena and annealing of the polyester derived from 1,5-ND and related polymers are described. The experimental results show that the polyester derived from 1,4-ND of linear shape was amorphous and non-liquid crystalline. Particularly, the polyester derived from 2,3-ND could form a smectic mesophase as banana-shaped molecules, and this is ascribed to the C/sub_2v/ symmetry where highly kinked molecules are packed in the same direction.
