파력발전 적지 기장 해역과 동해 해상부이 파랑관측치 비교 (Comparison of Observation Data between Local Waves in Gijang Sea and Donghae Buoy as Optimal Sites for the Wave Power Generation)

  • Gijang Sea is located on the southeastern coast of Korea. This study establishes a basic system to identify optimal sites for the wave power generation. To achieve this goal, the field measurements were made at the field site in front of Dong-am fishing port at Gijang. In addition, we analyzed the offshore wave data at the Donghae buoy operated by Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) and compared the data with the wave characteristics in Gijang Sea. The main results were as follows. In winter, the wave direction in Gijang Sea ranged between east and south($90{\sim}180^{\circ}$). The main wave direction was east($90^{\circ}$). The Significant wave heights and periods were under 2 m and $5{\sim}15$ sec, respectively. A comparison of water depth and wave direction constitutes one(condition) of the important parameters for selecting the optimal site for the wave power generation.

기장과 완도해역에서의 수층별 다시마 (Saccharina japonica Areschoug) 생산성 (Productivity of Saccharina japonica Areschoug by Depth in Gijang and Wando Offshore, Korea)

  • Productivity of Saccharina japonica was evaluated by water layers in Gijang and Wando sea area to find the suitable farming areas for mass production of biomass. For this, S. japonica was cultivated at various depths (0.5, 1, 2, 3 m), respectively. As the result, the growths in Gijang were 225.1-261.5 cm in length, 18.5-21.3 cm in widths, 396.0-537.7 g in weights, 14.3-17.8 kg/cluster in biomass, and those in Wando were 332.0-435.7 cm in lengths, 24.6-32.5 cm in widths, 766.0-1,232.9 g in weights, 16.4-24.3 kg/cluster in biomass. It showed that the growths of blades in Wando were faster than those in Gijang. The growth rates of blades by the depths were faster at 0.5-1 m depth from January to June. After June, however, as the growth rates of blades were lower than the shedding rates of blades, it showed that the growth of S. japonica decreased at all depth conditions except 2 m depth. Productivity of S. japonica was better in Wando which is lower in the water temperature and nutrients than Gijang.

시판 미역의 영양성분 및 생리활성 분석 (Nutritional Composition and Biological Activities of the Methanol Extracts of Sea Mustard (Undaria pinnatifida) in Market.)

  • 시판되는 기장산, 진도산 및 완도산 미역 완제품(가닥미역과 실미역)의 일반성분, 미량금속, 유리아미노산 함량, 알긴산 함량, 항산화 효과와 항염증 효과를 조사하여 산지별 미역의 생리활성을 비교, 분석하였다. 수분, 조지방, 조단백질, 탄수화물의 함량과 칼로리에서 큰 차이가 없었으나, 회분의 경우, 기장산 실미역은 32.5%, 완도산 실미역은 26.6%로 나타나 기장산 실미역이 다소 높은 함량을 보였다. 조지방의 경우, 기장산 가닥미역은 0.53%, 진도산 가닥미역은 1.47%로 나타나 진도산 가닥미역의 조지방 함량이 다소 높은 것으로 나타났다. 가닥미역의 주요 유리아미노산은 hydroxyproline, alanine, glutamic acid, proline 그리고 asparagine이었으며, 실미역은 유리아미노산 함량이 현저히 낮아 미역 가공 공정에 따라서 많은 유리아미노산이 소실되는 것으로 나타났다. 4종류의 주요금속원소(Na, K, Ca, Mg)과 3종류의 미량금속원소(Fe, Zn, P)의 농도를 비교한 결과, Ca, Fe, Zn, Mg 그리고 P의 함량은 기장산 가닥미역과 실미역에 비해 완도산 가닥미역과 실미역의 함량이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 알긴산의 함량은 가닥미역의 경우 제품별 유의한 차이가 없었으며, 실미역의 경우 완도산 실미역(26.0% )이 기장산 실미역(21.0% )에 비해 다소 높은 값을 나타내였다. DPPH 라디칼 소거능을 기장 및 진도산 가닥미역의 메탄올 추출물 $40\;{\mu}g/ml$ 농도에서 측정한 결과, 각각 45.5% 및 33.5%로 기장산 가닥미역에서 라디칼 소거능이 높게 나타났으며, 기장 및 완도산 실미역의 경우 각각 37.0%와 27.0%로 기장산 실미역의 라디칼 소거효과가 높은 것으로 분석되었다. SOD 유사활성을 측정 결과, 추출물 농도가 증가할수록 항산화 효과가 증가하였고, 기장 및 진도산 가닥미역의 메탄올 추출물(10 mg/ml)의 SOD 유사활성은 각각 66.1%와 72.5%였으며, 기장 및 완도산 실미역의 메탄올 추출물(10 mg/ml) SODA 유사활성은 각각 63.0% 및 71.4%로 분석되었다. LPS에 의하여 유도된 NO 합성은 미역의 methanol 추출물을 $200\;{\mu}g/ml$농도로 처리하였을 때, 기장 및 완도산 실미역의 NO 활성은 각각 44.2%와 35.7%로 나타났으며 가닥미역의 경우는 기장 및 진도산이 각각 40.7%와 28.6%로 나타나 산지에 따른 차이를 보였다. 특히 가공과정에 따라 생리활성 성분이 소실되는 것으로 나타났다.

기장 향토음식의 조리표준화(제1보) - 멸치찌개, 갈치찌개, 매집찜 - (Recipe Standardization of Native Local Foods in Gijang Region(The First Report) - Myeolchijjigae, Galchijjigae, Maejipjjim -)

  • The purpose of this study was to contribute to merchandising of native local foods. This study was designed to standardize the recipes and to analyze the nutrients of native local foods in Gijang region such as 'Myeolchijjigae', 'Galchijjigae' and 'Maejipjjim'. The test recipe for each food was prepared according to the information obtained from the personal interview of Gijang natives and then supplied for the sensory evaluation. After that, CAN Pro 2.0 was used for the nutritional evaluation. The results are as follows : Myeolchijjigae was preferred when radishes and traditional soybean paste were added. Galchijjigae was more liked when young pumpkins, mixed soy sauce and soybean paste were added. Maejipjjim was preferred with Aeji(Codium adhaerens), Warty sea squirt(Styela clava), soybean paste and powdered perilla seed(Perilla frutescens var. japonica) added. The analysis of nutrient composition revealed that in general energy content was low whereas protein content was as high as recommended requirement in Myeolchijjigae and Maejipjjim. Calcium and phosphorus were high in Myeol-chijjigae, vitamin A in Galchijjigae, and vitamin A, B_6$, folic acid, phosphorus and iron in Maejipjjim.

기장산과 완도산 식용해조류 중의 미네랄 함량 (Mineral Contents of Edible Seaweeds Collected from Gijang and Wando in Korea)

  • Mineral and heavy metal contents were determined in three brown edible seaweeds (sea mustard, Undaria pinnatifida; seaweed fusiforme, Hizikia fusiforme; sea tangle, Laminaria japonica) collected from Gijang and Wando in Korea, and two green seaweeds (sea lettuce, Enteromorpha prolifera; green laver, Monostroma nitidum) collected from Gijang. Seaweeds contained high proportions of ash (13.8-24.8%) and sulfate (1.08-3.25%). In brown seaweeds, ash contents (24.5-24.8%) were higher than in green seaweeds (13.8-15.2%). The differences of mineral contents were remarkable in both Gijang and Wando and in 5 various kinds of seaweeds. Brown seaweeds contained higher amounts of both macro-minerals (657-13,947 mg/100 g; Ca, Mg, Na, K) and trace elements (0.27-12.98 mg/100 g; Fe, Al, Zn, Mn, Cr, Cu, Ni), and green seaweeds also had relatively higher amounts of both macro-minerals (233-5,279 mg/100 g) and trace elements (0.26-10.61 mg/100 g).

  • This study was designed to standardize the recipes of native local foods in Gijang region such as 'Miyeokseolchi', 'Molseolchi', 'Gijangumuk' and 'Seokbakji' and analyze their nutrients. The test recipe for each food was prepared according to the information obtained from the personal interview of Gijang natives and then applied to sensory evaluation. After that, CAN pro 3.0 was used for the nutritional evaluation. The results are as follows: Both Miyeokseolchi and Molseolchi were preferred with soybean sprouts added but Miyeokseolchi with fermented red pepper paste added. Gijangumuk was preferred with dissolved ceylon moss added, not filtered. Seokbakji was preferred with salt-fermented gizzard shad added. Nutrient analysis was performed according to the established standard recipe. In general, it appeared that energy content was low and amino acid contents such as glutamate, aspartic acid, leuicine and arginine were high. Major fatty acids in Miyeokseolchi and Molseolchi were a linoleic acid and Seokbakji has a palmitic acid and EPA.

기장산과 완도산 건 다시마의 무기성분 및 생리활성 분석 (Mineral Contents and Physiological Activities of Dried Sea Tangle (Laminaria japonica) Collected from Gijang and Wando in Korea.)

  • 시판되는 기장 및 완도 다시마 완제품(건 다시마)의 일반성분, 미량금속, 유리아미노산 함량, 알긴산 함량, 항산화 효과와 항염증 효과를 조사하여 산지별 다시마의 생리활성을 비교, 분석하였다. 일반성분 중, 기장 다시마와 완도 다시마 간의 수분, 회분, 조지방, 탄수화물, 열량의 값은 큰 차이를 보이지는 않았지만 조단백의 경우, 기장 다시마가 8.41%, 완도 다시마가 7.25%로 나타나 기장 다시마의 조단백 함량이 완도 다시마의 조단백 함량보다 다소 높은 것으로 나타났다. 주요 유리아미노산은 glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine, proline 및 hydroxyproline이었으며, 유리아미노산의 함량을 비교한 결과, threonine, valine, 그리고 lysine 경우는 기장 다시마에서 더 높은 함량을 보였고, methionine, leucine, phenylalanine 및 histidine은 완도 다시마에서 더 높은 함량을 보였다. 비 필수아미노산의 함량은 기장 다시마의 함량이 완도 다시마에 비해 전반적으로 높게 나타났다. 4종류의 주요 금속원소(Na, K, Ca, Mg)와 3종류의 미량금속원소(Fe, Zn, P)의 농도를 비교한 결과, Fe의 함량은 완도 다시마가 높게 나타났으며, Na, K, Ca, Zn, Mg 그리고 P의 함량은 기장 다시마가 모두 높게 나타났다. 알긴산의 함량은 기장 다시마의 알긴산 함량(19.8%)이 완도 다시마(17.9%)보다 다소 높은 것으로 나타났으며, DPPH radical scavenging 활성은 완도 다시마의 전자공여능이 기장 다시마의 전자 공여능보다 약 17.8% 정도 높은 것으로 났다. SOD 유사활성은 완도 다시마(49.7%)가 기장 다시마(46.2%)보다 다소 높은 SOD 유사활성을 나타냈다. LPS에 의하여 유도된 NO 합성은 다시마 methanol 추출물을 처리함으로서 NO 합성이 $200\;{\mu}g/ml$농도에서 기장 및 완도 다시마의 NO 합성저해활성은 각각 21.4%와 32.6%로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 다시마 methanol 추출물이 면역기능과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 나타내는 것이다.

수하식 양식장용 실시간 해양환경 관측시스템 개발 및 동해 연안의 수온변동 특성 (Development of Real-time Oceanographic Information System for Long Line Hanging Aquaculture Farm and Temperature Variation in the Coastal Area of the East Sea)

  • Mass mortalities of cultivated organisms have occurred frequently in Korean coastal waters causing enormous losses to cultivating industry. The preventive measures require continuous observation of farm environment and real-time provision of data. However, line hanging aquaculture farm are generally located far from monitoring buoys and has limitations on installation of heavy equipments. Substituting battery pack for solar panels and miniaturizing size of buoy, newly developed system can be attached to long line hanging aquaculture farm. This system could deliver measured data to users in real-time and contribute to damage mitigation and prevention from mass mortalities as well as finding their causes. The system was installed off Gijang and Yeongdeck in Korea, measuring and transmitting seawater temperature at the sea surface every 30 minutes. Short term variation of seawater temperature, less than one day, in Gijang from June to July 2009 corresponded tidal period of about 12 hours and long term variation seemed to be caused by cold water southeast coast of Korea, particularly northeast of Gijang. Seawater temperature differences between Gijang station and the other station that is about 500 m away from Gijang station were $1^{\circ}C$ on average. This fact indicates that it is need to be pay attention to use substitute data even if it is close to the station. Daily range of seawater temperature, one of crucial information to aquaculture, can be obtained from this system because temperature were measured every 30 minutes. Averages of daily range of temperature off Gijang and Yeongdeok during each observation periods were about $2.9^{\circ}C$ and $4.7^{\circ}C$ respectively. Dominant period of seawater temperature variation off Yeongdeok was one day with the lowest peak at 5 a.m. and the highest one at 5 p.m. generally, resulting from solar radiation.

한국 연안산 검복(Takifugu porphyreus)과 자주복(Takifugu rubripes)의 독성 (Toxicity of the Puffer Fish Takifugu porphyreus and Takifugu rubripes from Coastal Areas of Korea)

  • Toxicity of two species of puffer fish, Takifugu porphyreus and Takifugu rubripes, collected from coastal regions of Korea, was determined using a mouse bioassay, In T. porphyreus, the proportion of toxic specimens containing ${\ge}$ 10 MU/g was 58.3% for the ovary, 32.6% for the skin, 12.0% for the gallbladder, 11.6% for the liver and intestine, and 9.3% for the fin; no toxicity was detected in the muscle and testis using the mouse bioassay. The highest toxin levels were 531 MU/g in the liver, 253 MU/g in the intestine, 136 MU/g in the gallbladder, 118 MU/g in the skin, 116 MU/g in the ovary, and 108 MU/g in the fin. The skin, which is used for human consumption, showed significantly high toxicity with an average of $11{\pm}3\;(mean{\pm}SE) MU/g$. Takifugu porphyreus toxicity also exhibited remarkable regional variation. In T. rubripes, the proportion of toxic specimens was 25.0% for the ovary, 15.8% for the liver, 11.1% for the gallbladder, and 5.3% for the fin and intestine; no toxicity was detected in the muscle, skin, or testis. Among the organs, the highest toxin levels were 228 MU/g in the ovary, followed by 112 MU/g in the liver, 28 MU/g in the gallbladder, 18 MU/g in the intestine, 11 MU/g in the fin, and 8 MU/g in the skin. Thus, we found acceptable toxin levels in the edible muscle and skin of T. rubripes and in the muscle of T. porphyreus. However, the skin of T. porphyreus, which showed significantly high toxicity, requires special attention when used for human consumption.

Occurrence of Toxic Alexandrium and Intoxification of Two Mollusk Species by Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning Toxins on the Southeastern Coast of Korea

  • We analyzed the paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) toxins of the toxic marine dinoflagellate Alexandrium tamarense collected from Dadaepo and Gaduck-do in Busan and from Sujeong-ri in Jinhae Bay, Korea, in April 2003. We also analyzed the PSP toxin of mussels (Mytilus galloprovincialis) and oysters (Crassostrea gigas) collected around Busan and Jinhae Bay. PSP toxin analyses were conducted by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Fifteen cultured A. tamarense isolates contained 2.78 to 57.47 fmol/cell, with nearly identical toxin profiles: major components C2, GTX4; minor components C1, GTX1, NEO; and trace components GTX2, GTX3, STX. PSP toxin contents were 0 to $492\;\mu{g}$ STXeq/100 g in mussels and 0 to $48\;\mu{g}$ STXeq/100 g in oysters. Mussels at Gijang and Sujeong-ri contained the most PSP toxin contents ($492\;\mu{g}\;STXeq/100\;g\;and\;252\;\mu{g}\;STXeq/100\;g,\;respectively$), exceeding the quarantine level ($80\;\mu{g}$ STXeq/100 g). Their dominant toxin components were C2, C1, GTX2, and GTX3; the minor components GTX1, GTX4, GTX5, and NEO were sporadically detected. Phytoplankton contained 0.774 fmol/L seawater and 1.228 fmol/L seawater at Gijang and Sujeong-ri in April. At that time, Alexandrium cells were present in the water column at Gijang at 2,577 cells/mL and at Sujeong-ri at 6,750 cells/mL. Overall, we found the high and similar PSP toxin contents in AZexandrium isolates and mussels, and a correlation between occurrence of toxic Alexandrium cells in the water column and mussel intoxification. High densities of toxic Alexandrium cells in the water column immediately preceded shellfish intoxification at Gijang and Sujeong-ri in April.
