To investigate the hormetic effect of the low dose ${\gamma}-ray$, soybean(Glycine max L.) seeds of three cultivars (Hwangkeumkong, Bansakong, S900 cv.) were irradiated with the dose of 0.5∼20.0 Gy and cultivated in the experimental field. The hormetic effects of the low dose ${\gamma}-ray$ on the growth of field experiment were different from each cultivar, that is, more effective in the S900 cultivar of black seedcoat color than in the Hwangkeumkong and Bangsakong of yellow ones. The germination rate of S900 cultivar increased about 30% in the 0.5Gy irradiated group compared with that of the control. The plant height of the 4.0Gy irradiated group in both Bangsakong and S900 cultivar increased 15% more than that of the control. Grain yield and the number of pod in 1.0 Gy and 4.0 Gy irradiated group of S900 cultivar and that of 2.0 Gy irradiated group of Hwangkeumkong increased 25 and 35% on the average, respectively.

To observe the stimulating effects of low dose ${\gamma}-radiation$ on the seed germination, early growth and physiological activity in the gourd, seeds of three cultivars (Partner, Support, FR Yongja) were irradiated at the dose of $0.5{\sim}30\;Gy$. The hormetic effects of the low dose ${\gamma}-radiation$ on the growth were different from each cultivar. Low dose ${\gamma}-radiation$ had promoting effects on the germination at the optimum dose of 2 Gy and 8 Gy and on the early growth at the optimum dose of 4 Gy, 16 Gy and 20 Gy in Partner and Support cultivar and 1 Gy in FR Yongja cultivar. Irradiation didn't have significant effects on the chlorophyll contents of gourd plantlet. The antioxidant enzyme activity of gourd plantlet and early growth increased in low dose irradiation group.
Gastrodia elata has been cultivated using mycorrizal fungi including Armillaria mellea as an energy source (myco-hetrotrophy) because it is aphyllous and achlorophyllous archid. But the yields of G. elata have been recently decreased owing to the degeneration of spawn tuber arised from successive asexual reproduction. Therefore, this study was carried out to solve this degeneration by seed germination, namely sexual reproduction. The seed germination of G. elata was excellent on the fallen leaves medium of oak tree. The fruetification rate of the capsule of G. elata by artificial pollination was 94.1% and better than natural pollination. The living weight of capsules of G. elata suitable for seeds germination was above 31 mg. The middle-matured seeds and matured seeds of capules were largely germinated, while the immatured seeds was small germinated. The storage temperature of the cropped capsules suitable for a favorable seed germination was $0{\sim}5^{\circ}C$ and the storage period of it was one month.
In this study spent mushroom substrate has ingredient raising rice bed soil. spent mushroom substrates are organic content is 60.72% were nitrogen - phosphoric acid - potassium is 1.39 - 0.89 - 0.81% of the chemical characteristics determine. Post-harvested mushroom substrates of the stabilization process, the temperature of the 20 days time progress in the pH of the rise and fall of temperature down were germination index also 77, as identified, Spent mushroom substrate bed soil for raising rice Ingredient to take advantage of the 20 days or more stabilization process needed to be investigated. Rice seed germination characteristic is in the common bed soil for raising rice ingredients manufactured control group and the comparison in spent mushroom substrate is 10% or less of a mixed experimental population of the germination rate is 82% was more than average days to germination and germination energy, even a statistical significant difference is or control group than good level was ok. Growth initial also spent mushroom substrate is 10% or less of a mixed experimental population of shoot dry matter (top) and grave less than control group higher as confirmed spent mushroom substrates are bed soil for raising rice ingredients are likely to take advantage of the high, as was the judge.
This research was performed to develop mass propagation method of round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia L.) for improving horticultural usefulness. Seeds were collected around Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do in October of 2011 and experimented upon while being dry-stored at 4 ± 1.0℃ (darkness). Seed length of a major and minor axis were 1.58 ± 0.060 and 0.21 ± 0.016 ㎜, respecrively, and weight of 1,000 seeds was 6.24 ± 0.172 ㎎. Seeds were thus classified as ‘dwarf seeds’. Regarding the dormancy type, since round-leaved sundew seeds were dormancy broken and germinated at 20~30℃ under the light condition after wet-chilling treatment for 12 weeks, seeds were estimated to have physiological dormancy. Germination conditions of dormancy broken seeds were found to be 20℃ and light condition (54.7%), but germination decreased at higher temperature. Percent germination (PG), germination energy (GE), mean germination time (MGT) and T50 were effectively improved by chemical treatment such as GA3 200 ㎎/L + kinetin 20 ㎎/L and wet-chilling treatment for 14 weeks. In conclusion these optimal conditions were thought to be a useful method for raising seedling uniformly.

Population growth and the increase of energy consumption due to civilization caused global warming. Temperature on the Earth rose about $0.7^{\circ}C$ for the last 100 years, the rate is accelerated since 2000. Temperature is a factor, which determines physiological action, growth and development, survival, etc. of the plant together with light intensity and precipitation. Therefore, it is expected that global warming would affect broadly geographic distribution of the plant as well as structure and function ecosystem. In order to understand the effect of global warming on the ecosystem, a study about the effect of temperature rise on germination and growth in the plant is required necessarily. This study was carried out to investigate the effects of experimental warming on the germination and growth of two oak species(Quercus mongolica and Q. serrata) in temperature gradient chamber(TGC). This study was conducted in control, medium warming treatment($+1.7^{\circ}C$; Tm), and high warming treatment ($+3.2^{\circ}C$; Th) conditions. The final germination percentage, mean germination time and germination rate of two oak species increased by the warming treatment, and the increase in Q. serrata was higher than that in Q. mongolica. Root collar diameter, seedling height, leaf dry weight, stem dry weight, root dry weight, and total biomass were the highest in Tm treatment. Butthey were not significantly different in the Th treatment. In the Th treatment, Q. serrata had significantly higher H/D ratio, S/R ratio, and low root mass ratio (RMR) compared with control plot. Q. mongolica had lower RMR and higher S/R ratio in the Tm and Th treatments compared with control plot. Therefore, growth of Q. mongolica are expected to be more vulnerable to warming than that of Q. serrata. The main findings of this study, species-specific responses to experimental warming, could be applied to predict ecosystem changes from global warming. From the result of this study, we could deduce that temperature rise would increase germination of Q. serrata and Q. mongolica and consequently contribute to increase establishment rate in the early growth stage of the plants. But we have to consider diverse variables to understand properly the effects that global warming influences germination in natural condition. Treatment of global warming in the medium level increased the growth and the biomass of both Q. serrata and Q. mongolica. But the result of treatment in the high level showed different aspects. In particular, Q. mongolica, which grows in cooler zones of higher elevation on mountains or northward in latitude, responded more sensitively. Synthesized the results mentioned above, continuous global warming would function in stable establishment of both plants unfavorably. Compared the responses of both sample plants on temperature rise, Q. serrata increased germination rate more than Q. mongolica and Q. mongolica responded more sensitively than Q. serrata in biomass allocation with the increase of temperature. It was estimated that these results would due to a difference of microclimate originated from the spatial distribution of both plants.

In an effort to find effective inoculation method of Fusarium nivale, this experiment was conducted. The results obtained are summarized as follows: (1) Distilled water-spore suspension of this fungus was inoculated on rice seedling and the result showed that negligible disease symptoms were observed when the inoculated plants were placed in a moist chamber for one day, whereas considerable symptoms were indicated when kept for two days. (2) After giving physical wounds by wind or wooden stick to the rice seedling, distilled water-spore suspenion was sprayed on them and considerable diseased spots were formed. (3) Sufficient disease occurrence was due to the addition of $1\%$ rice leaf extract, glucose, polypeptone, and yeast extract solution to the spore suspension. (4) In distilled water, spore germination was poor, while in nutrient added solution good germination rate as well as anastomosis was found. (5) A new rice variety Tong-il turned out to be more susceptible to Fusarium nivale than Pung-kwang.
In order to establish a dose limits for subsequent induced mutation research itl Pyricularia oryzae, X-ray sensitivity of the conidia and the vegetative hypae of the fungus, race N-1, was investigated. Conidia of the fungus irradiated with X-rays reduced significantly in spore germination inversely with radiation doses. A severe suppression of conidia germination in about $80\%$ was found at the dose of 120kR, and the rests of the conidia produce very short and lysed germ tubes. A stimulated effect was observed in the elongation of hyphae from the conidia of 10 kR irradiation at initial stage of the growth. The radiosensitivity of hyphae was exremely higher than that of conidia with the increase of radiation doses. It was also recognized that the frequency of X-ray induced mutation in pathogenicity was directly proportional to radiation doses.

Three types of solar grain dryers, namely , the solar grain bin dryer, the solar greenhouse rotary drum dryer and small scale solar green house tray dryer, have been tested. The results showed that each type of solar grain dryer has its feature. These solar drying units have three main advantages : (1) Required commercial energy to remove 1Kg moist from rough rice is only 5.3% to 15.8% of the energy consumed by common heated dryer : 2) The area of solar drying system is only about 10% of the area of the sunny ground to give equal drying capacity ; (3) There are good drying quality in the moisture uniform , germination percentage, and grain color.
