Geranii Herba water extract orally administered shows remarkable inhibitory effect on peptic activity in pylorus ligated and antiulcerous effect on Shay ulcer in rats.

The growth of S. aureus was inhibited by combination of natural products bearing antioxidative capacity and combined two, three and four kinds of them. S. aureus was controlled by Paeonia Japonica, Galla Rhois, Geranii Herba, alone, and two mixed combinations of Paeonia japonica and Scutellaria Baicalensis George, Paeonia japonica and Theae Folium, Paeonia japonica and Chelidonium Majus L, Paeonia japonica and Geranii Herba, Paeonia japonica and Schizandrae Fructus, and three mixed combinations of Paeonia Japonica and Scutellaria Baicalensis George and Geranii Herba, Paeonia Japonica and Scutellaria Baicalensis George and Chelidonium Majus L., Paeonia Japonica and Scutellaria Baicalensis George and Theae Folium, and four mixed combinations of Scutellaria Baicalensis George and Chelidonium Majus L. and Theae Folium and Schizandrae Fructus, Paeonia Japonica and Scutellaria Baicalensis George and Chelidonium Majus L. and Schizandrae Fructus, Scutellaria Baicalensis George and Geranii Herba and Theae Folium and Schizandrae Fructus. As these combinations of natural products will activate some parts of body, they may be applied to pharmaceutical applications, functional foods, antiaging tea, also expected to control bacterial growth for fermentative beverage bearing multifunction.

Objectives : The present study investigated the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory properties of the water extract of Geranii Herba (The stem and leaves of Geranium thunbergii Sieb. et Zucc.) in the animal models of pain and inflammation. Methods : We evaluated the anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities of Geranii Herba extract (GHE) using the writhing test, tail-flick test, carrageenan-induced paw edema and xylene-induced ear edema models. Two dose of GHE (100 and 1000 mg/kg) was administrated orally to the mice. Control group received normal saline and ibuprofen (50 mg/kg) was used as a positive control drug. Results : GHE 1000 mg/kg treated group showed an increased tail-flick response time in the tail-flick test and inhibitory effect on writhing syndrome induced by acetic acid. Treatment with GHE at the same dose inhibited ear edema induced by xylene and foot edema induced by carrageenan toxicity. Conclusion : The results demonstrate that GHE has anti-nociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects in the various models of nociception and inflammation.

30 kinds of natural products were considered for developing natural antioxidants by improved D.O. analyzing method including simple calculation of Area Under Curve. Several natural products such as Cimicifuge Rhizoma, Epimedii Herba, Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba, Acori Graminei Rhizoma, Mori Cortex Radicis, Aurantii Nobilis Pericarpium were bore nearly same antioxidant effects compared to synthetic powerful antioxidant BHT and also expressed powerful antioxidant effect than ${\beta}-carotene$ such as Eucommiae Cortex, Cinnamomi Cortex, Angelicae Gigantis Radix, Lycii Furctus, Acanthopanacis Cortex, Sophorae Radix, Paeoniae Radix, Geranii Herba. Another method of DPPH was performed for searching natural antioxidant from natural product. Sophorae Radix, Puerariae Radix, Aurantii Nobilis Pericarpium, Atractylodis Rhizoma Alba, Acori Graminei Rhizoma, Corni Fructus, Angelicae Gigantis Radix, Paeoniae Radix were carried higher antioxidant capacity than ${\beta}-carotene$ by DPPH method.

This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of Herbal medicine on gastrointestinal symptoms. After the patient was treated with Banhabakchulchunma-tang, Samchulkunbi-tang and Geranil Herba, and the changes in gastrointestinal symptoms were evaluated for the treatment efficacy every five day. The symptoms improved significantly. Herbal medicine is useful for the treatment with gastrointestinal disturbance patient
