One of the first decisions that a radio network designer must take is the location of base stations and the distance between them in order to give the best coverage to a region and, possibly, to reduce deployment costs. In this paper, the authors give an insight to this matter by presenting a possible solution to a real problem: Planning the base stations layout for a universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) in the city of Barcelona. At the basis of this problem, there is the interdependence between coverage and capacity in a wideband-code division multiple access (W-CDMA) system, which is a new element in the planning of BS layout for mobile communications. This aspect has been first treated with an analytical study of the cell coverage range for a specific environment and service. The achieved results have been checked with the help of snapshot simulations together with a geographical information system (GIS) tool incorporated in the simulator that allows to perform analysis and to visualize results in a useful way. By using the simulator, it is also possible to study a more complex environment, that of a set of base stations providing multiple services to a large number of users.

This research aims to examine the characteristics of tomb sites including tomb mound and attached buildings and also to find out the principles reflected in the traditional oriental Feng-Shui location and spatial composition of Junkyung and Youngkyung tomb at Samcheok. The results of this study are as follows. These tombs harmonize with each other in the cosmic dual forces because Junkyung tomb is men's sex symbol and tiger to lie on his belly and Youngkyung tomb is women's sex symbol in geographical feature. Spatial structure in these tomb sites were placed in a reflected line following the hierarchy of metaphysics by standing high Geumchunkyo(Bridge)-Hongsalmun(Gate)-Jegak(Pavilion)-Bongbun(Tomb mound). Axis structure of these tombs is irregular bent-axis type from Geumchunkyo to Bongbun, specially in case of Youngkyung tomb it is getting more refractive. These tombs are divided into and characterized by three zones. Firstly the space for living people constitutes from Geumchunkyo to Hongsalmun, secondly the semi-sacred space constitutes from Hongsalmun to Jegak, and lastly the space for the dead constitutes from the back of Jegak to Bongbun. - type Jegak instead of T type Jegak generally used at Chosun Dynasty was installed because of claypan stretched out in front of Junkyung tomb and Bongbun of Youngkyung tomb located at a ravine between two mountain ranges.

In this study the location condition and the management of the Rural Experience Tourism Villages located around unified Cheongju city has been surveyed or investigated. On the basis of the results of the survey or investigation this study is to suggest a way to make activate the Rural Experience Tourism Villages which have been inactive. The ways of the research include the understanding of what means the activation of rural areas and then this study is to find the problems with the Rural Experience Tourism Villages and to suggest final ways or plans after the field investigation of the condition of the location and management of the Villages. In this study I had full understanding of the concept of the activation for rural areas and the humanistic and geographical characteristics and then made a wide investigation and analysis of the location condition and the management of the Rural Experience Tourism Villages in this area. Based on the theory and the results of the actual investigation I made a suggestion of basic direction for the improvement of the Villages and the ways for activation of the Villages. I really expect these suggestions of mine to make active contribution to make the actual plan through the promotion of the Rural Experience Tourism Villages.

Nowadays with the help of Location-Based Social Networks (LBSNs), users of Point-of-Interest (POI) recommendation service in LBSNs are able to publish their geo-tagged information and physical locations in the form of sign-ups and share their experiences with friends on POI, which can help users to explore new areas and discover new points-of-interest, and promote advertisers to push mobile ads to target users. POI recommendation service in LBSNs is attracting more and more attention from all over the world. Due to the sparsity of users' activity history data set and the aggregation characteristics of sign-in area, conventional recommendation algorithms usually suffer from low accuracy. To address this problem, this paper proposes a new recommendation algorithm based on a novel Preference-Content-Region Model (PCRM). In this new algorithm, three kinds of information, that is, user's preferences, content of the Point-of-Interest and region of the user's activity are considered, helping users obtain ideal recommendation service everywhere. We demonstrate that our algorithm is more effective than existing algorithms through extensive experiments based on an open Eventbrite data set.

The purposes of this research are as follows: First, to reconstruct the optimal locational environment of the Bronze Age settlement in Cheonan Baekseok-dong (hereinafter referred to as the study settlement). Second, to identify the priority ranking of the topographical factors that influenced the Bronze Age people when selecting their the settlement location. For these reasons, the topographical factors of the 200 Bronze Age dwellings (hereinafter referred to as dwellings) confirmed in the survey area were analyzed through the ridge's environmental perspective. The results are asfollows: First, the optimal ridge environment of the Bronze Age settlement is largely a sub-ridge in N-S direction (for example, NNW-SSE, N-S, NNESSW), especially at the top (Crest slope, Crest flat) of the south-facing aspect of the ridge. Second, when the Bronze Age dwellers selected a residential location, they carefully considered topographical factors in the following order: (1) the slope direction of the ridge surface, (2) the micro-landform of the ridge, (3) the ridge scale, (4) the ridge direction, and (5) the surface relief. The results of this study could be used as basic data in related fields such as archaeology, quaternary research, and traditional architecture and so on.
The goal of this study is to propose a new method to capture the qualitative person spatial behavior. Beyond tracking or indexing the change of the location of a person, the changes in the relationships between a person and its environment are considered as the main source for the formal model of this study. Specifically, this paper focuses on the movement behavior of a person near the boundary of a region. To capture the behavior of person near the boundary of regions, a new formal approach for integrating an object's scope of influence is described. Such an object, a spatio-temporally extended point (STEP), is considered here by addressing its scope of influence as potential events or interactions area in conjunction with its location. The formalism presented is based on a topological data model and introduces a 12-intersection model to represent the topological relations between a region and the STEP in 2-dimensional space. From the perspective of STEP concept, a prototype analysis results are provided by using GPS tracking data in real world.
City's inhabitants should be able to utilize a variety of urban infrastructures and public facilities in a way of possessing the convenience, amenity, and safety of urban life. Most of the city government, however has established a policy for making and providing urban park facilities based on a very simple quantitative criteria rather than the qualitative criteria such as appropriateness, utility, accessibility, equity so far. Especially in the case of urban neighborhood parks, the usefulness to the inhabitant and accessibility to the parks may be questionable. In this study, we intended to analyze the spatial equity and distribution characteristics of urban neighborhood parks and to select several potential facility sites required in the study area using GIS's spatial analysis functions. Finally this study analyzes the possible location of an urban neighborhood park in terms of objective criteria and AHP techniques.

Destination choice analysis is an important issue of transportation demand research. The current study analyses the influential factors for university students' trip destination choice. The university students differ from other population groups in many aspects. The study is concerned with shopping, leisure and amusement purposes of trips, other than obligatory trips such as going to school. University students' daily life differs from those of employees and middle and high school students in the sense that a lot of flexible activities are mixed with fixed activities such as work and school attending. A multinomial logit analysis investigates the significance of the impact of a set of variables including residential location, gender and income of the university student. The results show that these variables affect the destination choice of shopping, leisure and amusement. The analysis also provides interesting interpretation of the relationships of the variables with the location choices, which are particularly relevant to the university students.

This study aims to investigate the success factors of each market through the case study of Seoul Gwangjang and Jangheung Toyo(saturday) market which have recently developed as tourist attractions among urban and rural traditional markets in Korea. In terms of location, market week, establishment and management of traditional market, Gwangjang is a private and daily market located in the city center of Seoul, and Jangheung Toyo is a public and periodic market located in rural Jeolla Nam-do Province. Nevertheless those differences, two markets have successfully developed as tourist attractions by the complexity of generally common five factors. Those are the factors such as surrounding location of famous tourist attractions, competitive staple goods(items), price competitiveness for goods, roles of local government and(or) public institution, and marketplace promotion through the mass media. These factors will have a significant implication for the development policy from traditional market to tourist market or tourist attraction.

Chungcheongbuk-do can be said that it is not developed well because its surface accounts for 7.5% of Korea's whole land surface, and it accounts for 3.1% of population and main economical index from those of whole Korea. However, Chungcheongbuk-do should develop itself more by integrating of Cheongju-si and Cheongwon-gun, transfer of government facilities to Sejong city, and dispersing manufacturing companies of Seoul Metropolitan area. The factor which affects Chungcheongbuk-do's regional specialized industries is the distance from Cheongju-si and Gyeonggi-do. Service industries are specialized in urban area; manufacturing industries are specialized in regions which are close to Cheongju-si or Gyeonggi-do; and primary industries and consumer service industries are specialized in areas that is far from Cheongju-si. This study can be a foundation for studies on regional and industrial change of Chungcheongbuk-do by looking at its population and location quotient.
