In this study, the observation environment of surface wind at an automatic weather station (AWS 288) located at Naei-dong, Mirang-si was analyzed using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model and geographic information system (GIS). The 16 cases with different inflow directions were considered before and after construction of an apartment complex around the AWS 288. For three inflow directions (south-south-westerly, south-south-easterly, and north-north-westerly), flow characteristics around the AWS 288 were investigated in detail, focusing on the changes in wind speed and direction at the AWS location. There was marked difference in wind speed between before and after construction of the apartment complex in the south-south-westerly case. In the south-south-easterly and north-north-westerly cases which were frequently observed at the AWS 288, the construction of the apartment complex had no marked influence on the observation of surface wind.
Access to health care is complicated to define. It is a multidimensional process. In addition to the matters of quality of care, geographical accessibility and availability of the right type of care, finance, and acceptability are all involved. The purposes of this paper are to measure the geographic distances between patient residency locations and health service organizations in which the patients hadvisited, and to investigate the association between geographical distance measures and variables involved in health service utilization. The study used the first and the second wave of the 2008 Korea Health Panel Survey. The samples of analyses were patients who had visited outpatient or used ambulatory health services, and the total observations (visit numbers) analyzed were 229,128. We divided the samples into a frequent-visit illness group (Group 1) and a non-frequent visit illness group (Group 2) based on over 5,000 total visit numbers. We exploited three level analyses using xtmixed of STATA${\Box}$ 11.1 command with/without interaction terms among age, sex, and occupation. Geographical distances were measured using the Haversine method. Group 1 was tended to older and lower equivalent income than those of Group 2, but the geographic difference were not observed in terms of area deprivation index and standard mortality ratios. Amongst group 1, diabetes mellitus patients travelled far to visit health care organizations, and arthritis patients were more deprived in terms of the personal and areal characteristics. The study revealed that residents in rural areas traveled about 10 times more long distances than those whom lived in larger cities after adjusting for various variables, which we used for analyses. This study contributed to the practical understanding of health service utilizations using empirical analyses, and found that the types of diseases and socioeconomic characteristics of patients tended to define the amount of travel distance to healthcare organizations.

In 2011, floods were at the worst stage of devastation in Chao Phraya river basin of Thailand. The purpose of this study is to trace the flood inundation area around Chao Phraya river basin by using Terra MODIS image because it has the ability of spatiotemporal dynamics. The MODIS indices, which included the enhanced vegetation index(EVI), land surface water index(LSWI), and the difference in the values of EVI and LSWI(DVEL), were extracted from MODIS product MOD09 8-day composite datasets with a spatial resolution of 500m from Jul. 29, 2011 to Jan. 09, 2012. We found that combined application of EVI, LSWI, and DVEL was suitable for monitoring flood inundation. For the extracted flood inundation area and water-related area. The result can be used to acquire the flood inundation data scattered and demonstrate the potential for the use of MODIS data for temporal and spatial detection of flood effects.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of urban heat island considering urban space at nighttime. We used to analyze landuse and landcover data of 1:1,000 scale, DTM, and surface temperature extracted ASTER image satellite of nighttime. According to the analytical results, heat intensity in single-family residential is higher than that in industrial area, public facility area, and commercial area because the anthropogenic heat by energy consumption is released. Likewise, the temperature difference were big in the buildings of industrial area depending on operating hours. Meanwhile, green and river area had cooling impacts mitigating the urban heat island. Therefore, we have to mitigate heat intensity through constructing green space and waterfront area. As mentioned above, we think that the results of this study will be used as base data for effective spatial planning when formulating development planning to mitigate urban heat island at nighttime.

Great loss of life and property has been occurred by the severe flood globally. In Korea, a flood inundation map is used as one of the non-structural measures for reducing flood damage, and various inundation models have been studied for flood inundation analysis. This study applies LiDAR data and LISFLOOD model for flood inundation analysis and discusses the the modeling results from levee breaching scenarios for evaluating the applicability of the model to stream inundation modeling. In the results of LISFLOOD modeling, maximum inundation area was similar to the inundation map by HEC-RAS model just less than 4%. The inundation area by each levee breaching scenario showed the difference from 0.2% to 6.5%. Inundation processes were different each other according to the position of levee breach point, and maximum inundation area and depth were changed by the flow direction of stream and flood plain. This study shows that LISFLOOD model can be applied properly to stream inundation analysis using various inundation scenarios.

This study reviewed different results according to the selection of viewpoints and considerations of the neighborhood in the analysis of view to regulate the height of buildings. To do this, 4 cases were set according to the analytical methodology and a GIS simulation was performed. Characteristics of each methodology were compared and analyzed by simulated values with ANOVA(analysis of variance) and post-hoc analysis. First, the method using moving viewpoints was found to be appropriate for the regulation of building height as it could reflect basic characteristics of landscape which was sequential and it did not show big difference in analysis result according to situational setting. Second, the method using grid viewpoints showed a problem that viewpoints at left and right sides viewed ridges of other mountains than the background mountains of the target land. Additionally, the simulation method that induces three-dimensional cross-sections between multiple sight-surface and virtual construction points created at viewpoints used in this study was found to be useful in the simulation review with various settings as it induced the marginal height of the spot quantitatively.

The purpose of this study is to predict future land use using Landsat images through assessing the effect of spatial scale and resolution in applying CA (Cellular Automata)-Markov technique. The scale for areas ranging from $31.26km^2$ to $84.48km^2$ showed about 11% difference of overall accuracies. Among the five spatial resolutions (10m, 30m, 50m, 100m, 150m), 30m resolution showed the best result in the prediction of area and spatial distribution of urban areas. Based on the results, the 2004 land use by CA-Markov was predicted using 1996 and 2001 land use data and compared with the 2004 land use by maximum likelihood classification. After that, future land uses of 2030, 2060 and 2090 were predicted and the results showed a tendency of gradual increase in urban area and high decrease in forest area.

One of the most important hydrologic components is evapotranspiration. It is a process by which water is evaporated from moist land surfaces and transpired into atmosphere by plants. There are many methods of estimating evapotranspiration rate and its potential such as the methods of soil-moisture sampling, lysimeter measurements, water balance, energy balance, groundwater fluctuations and evapotranspiration. But it is very difficult to estimate evapotranspiration in terms of regional discrete characteristics of topography and/or vegetation. The evapotranspiration is strongly affected by ground covering vegetation, and the degree of vegetation growth. In order to grasp vegetation condition over a vast study area, NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Indices) calculated from the data obtained from NOAA/AVHRR were utilized. Through multi-regression analysis, we developed a model equation to estimate the evapotranspiration using NDVIs and temperature data.

The GNSS coordinate time series is used as important data for geophysical analysis such as terrestrial reference frame establishment, crustal deformation, Earth orientation parameter estimation, etc. However, various factors may cause discontinuity in the coordinate time series, which may lead to errors in the interpretation. In this paper, we describe the discontinuity in the coordinate time series due to the equipment replacement for domestic GNSS stations and discuss the change in movement magnitude and velocity vector difference in each direction before and after discontinuity correction. To do this, we used three years (2017-2019) of data from 40 GNSS stations. The average magnitude of the velocity vector in the north-south, east-west, and vertical directions before correction is -12.9±1.5, 28.0±1.9, and 4.2±7.6 mm/yr, respectively. After correction, the average moving speed in each direction was -13.0±1.0, 28.2±0.8, and 0.7±2.1 mm/yr, respectively. The average magnitudes of the horizontal GNSS velocity vectors before and after discontinuous correction was similar, but the deviation in movement size of stations decreased after correction. After equipment replacement, the change in the vertical movement occurred more than the horizontal movement variation. Moreover, the change in the magnitude of movement in each direction may also cause a change in the velocity vector, which may lead to errors in geophysical analysis.

Due to recent climate change, lager-scale storm and flood disasters have occurred. To prepare for this, the government is operating the national disaster management information system(NDMS), it is insufficient that unification and standardization of disaster site information data. In this study, to establish a disaster information display system, spatial DB was stored, quality standards were presented and the quality of spatial information currently provided was evaluated. As a result of evaluation, spatial information is established as different standard for each institution. So it is difficult to integrate and use. It considered that prepare a common standard to redeem this difference.
