KARI precision attitude determination system has been developed for high accurate geo-coding of KOMPSAT-2 image. Sensor data from two star trackers and a IRU are used as measurement and dynamic data. Sensor data from star tracker are composed of QUEST and unit vector filter. Filter algorithms consists of extended Kalman filter, unscented Kalman filter, and least square batch filter. The type of sensor data and filter algorithm can be chosen by user options. Estimated parameters are Euler angle from 12000 frame to optical bench frame, gyro drift rate bias, gyro scale factor, misalignment angle of star tracker coordinate frame with respect to optical bench frame, and misalignment angle of gyro coordinate frame with respect to optical bench frame. In particular, ground control point data can be applied for estimating misalignment angle of star tracker coordinate frame. Through the simulation, KPADS is able to satisfy the KOMPSAT-2 mission requirement in which geo-location accuracy of image is 80 m (CE90) without ground control point.

In this paper, we propose a method to extract the features of five sensor-only facilities built as infrastructure for autonomous cooperative driving, which are from point cloud data acquired by LiDAR. In the case of image acquisition sensors installed in autonomous vehicles, the acquisition data is inconsistent due to the climatic environment and camera characteristics, so LiDAR sensor was applied to replace them. In addition, high-intensity reflectors were designed and attached to each facility to make it easier to distinguish it from other existing facilities with LiDAR. From the five sensor-only facilities developed and the point cloud data acquired by the data acquisition system, feature points were extracted based on the average reflective intensity of the high-intensity reflective paper attached to the facility, clustered by the DBSCAN method, and changed to two-dimensional coordinates by a projection method. The features of the facility at each distance consist of three-dimensional point coordinates, two-dimensional projected coordinates, and reflection intensity, and will be used as training data for a model for facility recognition to be developed in the future.
This study treats the advantage of in situ line source method measuring the heat transfer capacity of a borehole, using mobile equipment, to determine the thermal properties of the entire borehole system such as thermal conductivity, diffusiveity. volumetric heat capacity, and borehole thermal resistance. The results from the response test include not only the thermal properties of the ground and the borehole, but also conditions that are difficult to estimate, e,g. natural convection in the boreholes, asymmetry in the construction, etc. In this study, 1) theoretical in situ methods for assessing working fluid temperature variation in V-type PE tube have been introduced, and 2) TRTE(Thermal Response Test Equipment) has been built based on these kinds of theoretical in situ methods. Basically TRTE consists of a pump, a heater and temperature sensors for measuring the inlet and outlet temperatures of the borehole. In order to make equipment easily transportable it is set up on a small trailer. Since the response test takes above two days to execute, the test was fully automatic in recording measured data using Labview DAS(Data acquisition system) program. The test was demonstrated in the course of intensive research in this field through the one site at Ulsan city in Korea. From this kind of thermal properties test of borehole systems in situ, the design of the borehole system can be optimized regarding the total geological, hydro-geological and technical conditions at the location.

In this paper, we propose Media CIS system architecture which provides geographical information of geo-features in video sequences by using 3D geographical database and GPS-related data resulted from 4S-Van. We introduce a novel interoperable geographical data service concept, so-called, Virtual World Mapping (VWA) that can map 3D graphic world with real-world video to provide geographical information. Our proposed method can easily retrieve geographical information and attributes to reconstruct 3D virtual space according to certain frame in video sequences. Our proposed system architecture also has an advantage that can provide geographical information service with video stream without any image processing procedures. In addition to, describing the details of our components, we present a Media GIS web service system by using GeoVideo Server, which performs VWM technique.
GEO-KOMPSAT2 shall be designed to produce higher quality of image than that of COMS, and this requires the ground system to provide orbit data with high accuracy; better than 2km which is sort of high accuracy when it comes to geostationary satellite. For GEO-KOMPSAT2, KARI is planning to use ranging data for orbit determination, obtained from two ranging stations located in KARI and oversea country with long longitudinal baseline. This paper estimated achievable orbit determination accuracy using covariance analysis under assumption of using two ranging stations; SOC and available secondary tracking stations located in oversea countries. In addition to covariance analysis, in order to validate the analysis, the Monte-Carlo simulation has been performed and compared to the covariance analysis.
Exposure analysis is a critical component of determining the health impact of pollutants. Global positioning systems (GPS) could be useful in developing time-location information for use in exposure analysis. This study compares four low cost GPS receivers with data logging capability (Garmin 60, Garmin Forerunner 201, GeoStats GeoLogger and Skytrx minitracker MT4100) in terms of accuracy, precision, and ease of use. The accuracy of the devices was determined at two known National Geodetic Survey points. The coordinates logged by the devices were compared when the devices were carried while walking and driving. The Garmin 60 showed better accuracy and precision than the GeoLogger when they were placed at the geodetic points. The Forerunner and Skytrx did not record when they were kept stationary. When the subject wore the devices while walking, the location of the devices differed by about 8 m on average between any two device combinations involving the four devices. The distance between the coordinates logged by the devices decreased when the devices were carried with their antennas facing the sky. All the devices showed similar routes when they were used in a car. All the devices except the Forerunner had satisfactory signal reception when they were worn and when they were carried in the car. The GeoLogger is less comfortable for the subject because of specific wearing requirements. This evaluation found that the Garmin 60 and the Skytrx may be useful in personal exposure analysis studies to record time-location data.
Recently, new GIS applications such as gee portal and spatial data infrastructure are emerging. These are related to web computing techniques or methodologies based on web 2.0 paradigm, open API of portal, open source GIS, and international GIS standards which are independently on developing. The product of these applications can be realized in the linkage of those components. In this study, a case implementation concerning linkage with Google maps API and open source middleware named Deegree is carried out, and the results are discussed for open source uses in geo portal. Open source middleware supports various levels and types of OGC standards, so that it enables web publishing in the several web standard formats and data exchanges and interoperable uses between external database servers. Also the (unction extensions and the multi tier-based architecture within geo portal for specific purpose are possible.

The recent interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning has partly contributed to an interest in the use of such approaches for hyperspectral remote sensing (HRS) imagery classification, as evidenced by the increasing number of deep framework with deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) structures proposed in the literature. In these approaches, the assumption of obtaining high quality deep features by using CNN is not always easy and efficient because of the complex data distribution and the limited sample size. In this paper, conventional handcrafted learning-based multi features based on expert knowledge are introduced as the input of a special designed CNN to improve the pixel description and classification performance of HRS imagery. The introduction of these handcrafted features can reduce the complexity of the original HRS data and reduce the sample requirements by eliminating redundant information and improving the starting point of deep feature training. It also provides some concise and effective features that are not readily available from direct training with CNN. Evaluations using three public HRS datasets demonstrate the utility of our proposed method in HRS classification.

The soil behaviour can be represented by numerical modelling of element testing using diverse constitutive models. However, not all constitutive models allow the simulation of the stress-strain response at the critical state in granular soils with both contractive and dilative behaviour. Moreover, the accuracy of these models depends highly on the quality of the experimental data used for their calibration. This study addresses the modelling of the critical state behaviour of an alluvial natural soil from the Lower Tagus Valley (south of Portugal), known as TP-Lisbon sand, using the NorSand constitutive law. For this purpose, a series of numerical simulations of element testing was carried out using two algorithms performed in Visual Basic (VB) and Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC). Moreover, this study presents the characterisation of of NorSand parameters from an accurate experimental programme based on triaxial and bender element testing. This experimental program allowed defining: (i) the critical state locus, (ii) the stress-dilatancy, and (iii) the soil elasticity of TP-Lisbon sand -all fundamental to calibrate the contractive and dilative behaviour of such alluvial soil. The results revealed a good agreement between experimental data and NorSand simulations using VB and FLAC. Therefore, this study showed that the quality of laboratory testing procedures and its good interpretation enables NorSand constitutive law to capture representatively the non-associated plastic strains, often expressed by the state parameter, allowing a representation of soil behaviour of alluvial soils within the critical state soil mechanics framework for different state parameters.
In geo-spatial information system building and operation, metadata is one of the crucial factors. Therefore, international and domestic organizations or associations for standardization have developed and distributed geo-based standard metadata to meet public demands. However, because metadata is composed of complicated elements and needs XML storage and management, individual organization which implement and operate practical application system is inclined to define and use its own metadata specifications. In this study, metadata extraction program, that metadata elements are directly extracted from geo-based file formats was developed to easily utilize standard metadata such as ISO/TC 19115, TTAS.KO-10.0139 and TTAS.IS-19115, and those elements are processed into XML. Furthermore, geo-based images sets are applied to another metadata of ISO/TC 19115-2. As well, metadata transformation is needed due to inconsistent or non-corresponding definition among standard metadata; in this program, transformation modules are also implemented to interoperable uses between standard metadata specifications. Widely used data formats are dealt with in this program, but extension for other formats and other metadata specifications is possible, and it is expected that availability of standard metadata is increased, through this kind of development.
