Aspects of the scintillation mechanism in organic systems obtained on the base of precise measurements of the radioluminescence pulse shape are discussed. It shown that the process of scintillation light pulse formation is mainly determined by initial conditions of exited states generation.
A dedicated CAM(Computer-Aided Manufacturing) system has been developed, which generated tool-path to machine Styrofoam stamping die-patterns in Chrysler Corporation. A previous process to build die-patterns was to "stick build" the pattern, in which stock is cut & glued together, and then the NC machining of part-surface shape completes building a Styrofoam die-pattern. The current process utilizes the developed CAM system, and almost removes the manual work, consequently reduces the overall lead time. The paper presents the overall system structures, tool-path generation, and some features of Styrofoam pattern machining.
This paper reviews AC loss characteristics of high $T_c$ superconductors. The mechanisms of AC loss generation are explained briefly, and AC losses are classified by the magnetic field components which generate them. A couple of analytical formulae of AC losses, which are useful for simple and rough AC loss estimations, are presented. AC loss characteristics of single BSCCO multifilamentary conductors and single YBCO coated conductors are reviewed based on previous experimental and numerical studies. AC loss characteristics of those two types of practical high $T_c$ superconductors are compared with each other.

This paper presents automatic generation of robot motion using posture template in physical training system. In this system, we define a human-like generic template with two angles, then, we generate robot motion that has used angle data of the created template. The angle data is transformed automatically to the most similar motion. This is achieved by suitable expressions for robot specification. The expressions intend to differences of angle measurement on X,Y,Z planes and DOF constraint. We choose several postures and create generic templates for chosen postures. Robot motions are also generated from generic templates by expressions.
For developing 5-axis laser cutting systems, many problems such as rotating of laser head or table, 5-axis tool path generation and collision avoidance between laser head and product should be solved. In this paper, a five-axis laser cutting machine with table swivel and rotary type configuration is developed. The five axes (X,Y,Z,A,B) are controlled and interfaced to PC via MMC board. Two kinds of CAM S/W such as commercial 5-axis CAM S/W(Euclid) and UG-API are engaged to generate NC code for the developed 5-axis laser cutting machine.
Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films of arachic acid and TCNQ(tetracyanoquinodimethane) were prepared in the sample of Al/LB film/Al type where Al are electrodes, and polarization in LB film and dipolar moment of molecules in the films were measured by themally stimulated current(TSC). It is ascertaind in our experiments that dipolar mament of $C_{12}$TCNQ molecule was about 13-15 debye and the moment was directed from the alkyle chain toward TCNQ. Generation of the open circuit voltage was investigated on the z-type and Hetero structure of LB films.
The effects of internal manifold designs the reactant feed-stream in Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (PEFCs) is studied to figure out mass flow-distribution patterns over an entire fuel cell stack domain. Reactants flows are modeled either laminar or turbulent depending on regions and the open channels in the bipolar plates are simulated by porous media where permeability should be pre-determined for computational analysis. In this work, numerical models for reactant feed-stream in the PEFC manifolds are classified into two major flow patterns: Z-shape and U-shape. Several types of manifold geometries are analyzed to find the optimal manifold configurations. The effect of heat generation in PEFC on the flow distribution is also investigated applying a simplified heat transfer model in the stack level (i.e. multi-cell electrochemical power-generation unit). This modeling technique is well suited for many large scale problems and this scheme can be used not only to account for the manifold flow pattern but also to obtain information on the optimal design and operation of a PEMC system.

This paper is concerned with an efficient generation of stereoscopic views for complex virtual environments by exploiting frame coherence in visibility. The basic idea is to keep visible polygons throughout the rendering process. P-buffer, a buffer of image size, holds the id of the visible polygon for each pixel. This contrasts to the frame buffer and the Z-buffer which hold the color information and the depth information, respectively. For the generation of a consecutive image, the position and the orientation of the visible polygons in the current view are updated according to the viewer's movements, and re-rendered on the current image under the assumption that, when the viewer moves slightly, the visibility of polygons remains unchanged. In the case of stereoscopic views, it may not introduce much difficulty when we render the right(left) image using visible polygons on the (right) image only, The less difference in two images is, the easier the matching becomes in perceiving depth. Some psychophysical experiments have been conducted to support this claim. The computational complexity for generating a fight(left) image from the previous left(right) image is bounded by the size of image space, and accordingly. It is somewhat independent of the complexity of the 3-D scene.
A low cost personal computer and image processing S/W were empolyed to derive Digtal Elevation Model(DEM) of tidal flat from multitemporal LANDSAT TM images, and to create three-dimensional(3D) perspective views of the tidel flat on Komso bay in west coasts of Korea. The method for generation of Digital Elevation Model(DEM) in tidal flat was considered by overlapping techniques of multitemporal LANDSAT TM images and interpolations. The boundary maps of tidal flat extracted from multitemporal images with different water high were digitally combined in x, y, z space with tide in formation and used as an inputcontour data to obtain an elevation model by interpolation using spline function. Elevation errors of less than $\pm$0.1m were achived using overlapping techniques and a spline interpolation approach, respectively. The derived DEM allows for the generation of a perspective grid and drape on the satellite image values to create a realistic terrain visualization model so that the tidal flat may be viewed from and desired direction. As the result of this study, we obtained elevation model of tidal flats which contribute to characterize of topography and monitoring of morphological evolution of tidal flats. Moreover, the modal generated here can be used for simulation of innudation according to tide and support other studies as a supplementary data set.
