  • This paper studies about the Oriental Medical Expert System, based on Open Source Drools for rule engine processing, which contains scalability, availability, and modifiability. The system is developed with the Spring MVC framework and Ajax for stable services of the Web-based Medical Expert System. The diagnosis and treatment process of this Medical Expert system provides a service that provides the general users to accesses the web with a series of questionnaires. In order to compensate for the asynchronous communication between clients and services, and also for the complicated JDBC weaknesses, we applied the data handling in JSON to reduce the servers' loads, and also the Mybatis framework to improve the performance of the RDBMS, respectively. In addition, as the number of users increases to cope with the maximum available services of the web-based system, the load balancing structure using Nginx has been developed to solve the server traffic problems and the service availability has been increased. The experimental results show the stable services by approving the scalability test.

  • Guaranteed Frame Rate(GFR) service is intended to efficiently support TCP/IP traffic in ATM networks. The GFR service not only guarantees a minimum service rate at the frame level, but also supports a fair share of available bandwidth. The original GFR proposal outlined two switch implementation scheme : FIFO Queuing and perVC-Queuing. In general, it has been shown that FIFO Queuing is not sufficient to provide rate guarantees and perVC-Queuing with scheduling is needed. In perVC-Queuing implementation, scheduling algorithm plays key rule to provide rate guarantees and to improve fairness. We proposed a new scheduling algorithm for the GFR service. Proposed algorithm can provide minimum service rate guarantee and fair sharing to GFR VCs. Computer simulation results show that proposed scheduling scheme provide a much better performance in TCP Goodput and fairness than previous scheme.

  • In general, thickness of the sublayers under track is designed based on concept of vertical soil reaction value or vertical stiffness. However, this design method cannot take consideration into soil-track interaction under repetitive load, traffic condition and velocity of the train. Furthermore, the reinforced roadbed soils experience complex behavior that cannot be explained by conventional stress-strain relation expressed as soil reaction value k. The reinforced roadbed soils also can produce cumulative permanent deformation under repetitive load caused by train. Therefore new design method for the sublayers under track must be developed that can consider both elastic modulus and permanent deformation. In this study, a new design concept, a rule-of-thumb, is proposed as the form of design monograph that is developed using elastic multi-layer and finite element programs by analyzing stress and deformation in the sublayers with changing the thickness and elastic modulus of the sublayers and also using data obtained from repetitive triaxial test. This new design concept can be applied to design of the reinforced roadbed before developing full version of design methodology that can consider MGT, axial load and the material properties of the layers. The new design monograph allows the user to design the thickness of the reinforced roadbed based on permanent deformation, elastic modulus and MGT.

  • An Analysis of wind is essential for planning runway direction. As a general rule, the principal traffic runway at an airport should be oriented as closely as practicable in the direction of the prevailing wind. Aircraft are able to maneuver on a runway as long as the wind component at right angles to the direction of landing and taking-off, the cross wind component, is not excessive. ICAO recommends that runway be oriented so that aircraft may be landed at least 95% of the time with allowable cross wind components not exceeding specified limits based upon the airport reference field length. Based on the recommendation, the direction of the runway or runways at an airport can be determined through graphical vector analysis on wind rose. This study is to develop the wind-rose software for planning the optimum runway direction at an airport with the raw wind data based on reliable wind distribution statistics that extend over as long as a period as possible, preferably of not less than 5 years.
