Purpose: To find the factors of subjective musculoskeletal symptoms associated with the general characteristics and tasks of operating room nurses (OR nurses) and then to use the factors as basic information for preventing and managing musculoskeletal symptoms in OR nurses. Method: This study was an exploratory research. Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire from OR nurses working at 8 polyclinics in Korea during the period from July 26 2004 to August 19 2004. The questionnaire contains 7 questions on general characteristics and 18 questions on tasks in the operating room. Result: 187 (75.1%) nurses said they 'had' subjective musculoskeletal symptoms. Statistically significant differences were observed according to clinical career, career as an OR nurse, skillfulness, satisfaction with tasks in the operating room, perception on suitable treatment, care of symptoms by the hospital. weight of hospital linen and weight of a basic operation set (p<.05). Conclusion: Musculoskeletal symptoms complained of by OR nurses were significant. This may cause difficulties in nursing tasks in the operating room. Thus, various arrangements should be made for OR nurse with subjective musculoskeletal symptoms at the early stage.
Purpose: This study is a descriptive study to identify the degree of workplace bullying experience of newly graduated nurses and the difference in coping and adaptation processing, organizational socialization in relation to workplace bullying experience. Methods: The Study participants were newly graduated nurses with 3 months to 1-year clinical experience (N=186) and conveniently sampled from a small to medium-sized hospital located in G Metropolitan City. Data were collected in July 2018, using structured questionnaires. Results: Half of the participants (50.0%) reported workplace bullying experience. Most bulling experiences were person or work related. Newly graduated nurses who experienced bullying in the workplace demonstrated significantly lower coping and adaptation process (t=3.34, p=.001) and organizational socialization (t=7.46, p=<.001) than nurses who did not experience bullying in the workplace. Conclusion: Orientation programs for newly graduated nurses need to include contents that can improve the coping and adaptation process. Nursing managers at small and medium-sized general hospitals should actively support the mentor-mentee program to promote the organizational socialization of newly graduated nurses.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate effect of the SBAR-Collaborative Communication Program on nurses'communication skills and on collaboration between nurses and doctors. Methods: From March 11 to November 11, 2013, data were collected from 180 hospital nurses working in a university hospital in Gyeonggi province. Outcomes were measured at three time intervals; before, three and six months after the program was completed. Results: After participating in this program, there was a significant increase in nurses'communication skills but not in collaboration between nurses and doctors. None of the participants' general categories influenced nurses'communication skills at pre-test, but age, education level, total years of working and work department significantly influenced scores at 3 and 6 months. Work department was the only category for which there was a significant difference in collaboration between nurses and doctors at pre-test, and education level and work department were related to significant improvement at 6 months. Conclusion: Findings indicate that this program can improve communication skills for nurses and also, collaboration between nurses and doctors, especially for nurses under 25 years of age. Thus nursing and hospital managers should provide SBAR-Collaborative Communication Programs to new nurses in their job training.

The subjects of this study were 193 nurses who worked in general hospitals in K district. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple stepwise regression. The results of the study are as follows. First, among the general characteristics, working years in general hospital wards showed a statistically significant difference in professional identity the less the working years in general hospital, the higher the professional identity. Second, professional identity showed a positive correlation with job satisfaction and role conflict, and a negative correlation with job stress. The higher the professional identity, the higher the job satisfaction and role conflict, but the lower the job stress. Role conflict showed a positive correlation with job stress the higher the role conflict, the higher the job stress. Job stress and job satisfaction showed a negative correlation the higher the job stress, the lower the job satisfaction. Third, the factors that affected the job satisfaction of nurses working in general hospital wards were job stress and professional identity, which had an influence of 38%. Thus, to improve the job satisfaction of nurses, it is necessary to develop programs that develop a positive professional identity. In addition, it is necessary to recognize the necessity of relieving job stress caused at work and to secure diverse human and material support resources.
