유성기어 캐리어팩 전달오차 측정 장비 개발에 관한 연구 (Research for a Development of the Test Equipment for Transmission Error of the Planetary Gear Carrier Pack)

  • In general, there has been a lot of research concerned about the gear noise known to be proportional to gear transmission error for external gears likewise spur, helical gear, and hypoid gears. But, In the case of planetary gear set, gear noise study is insufficient because of the difficulty of designing, manufacturing, and understanding of its mechanical system. This study is aimed to develop the transmission error measurement equipment for the planetary gear sets used in the automatic transmission. By comparing the results of the transmission error and noise objectively, user could select the optimized planetary gear set which has quiet noise level before manufacturing the automatic transmission.

  • Experimental approach was investigated to improve gear rattle noise of a small car. During the development of a small car serious problem occurred inside the transmission gear units. The transmission was a carried over system from a less powered predecessor. Several components of suspicion were investigated, and applied to reduce rattle noise. In general, backlash, the assembly gaps, and the clutch disk rattle induce gear rattle noise. Above mentioned improvements were applied to reduce the noise, but still problem remained. Meanwhile, the temperature inside the gearbox was reported to be unusually high and the life of transmission oil quality deteriorated drastically, Temperature increment caused the large gap between the bearing outer diameter and the transmission housing. Large gap made the gear shaft assembly move intermittently and impact each other. The tighter control of the assembly gap allowed the rotating shafts smoothly and reduced the gear rattle noise even in the high temperature range.

  • A method of establishing the tooth modification for gear transmission of vehicles to reduce gear whine noise, caused by tooth impact phenomenon of mating gear, is introduced. The major causes of tooth impact are due to the deflections of gear teeth and shafts of transmission with the loaded condition including various kinds of manufacturing errors. The theoretical shape of tooth surface to avoid tooth impact is derived by the amount of elastic deformation of gear teeth and shaft and overall manufacturing error of machine tool. The surface function is converted with respect to the conventional commercial data usually communicated to the gear inspection system. The proposed method is applied to the gearbox of four wheel drive vehicle and shows the gear whine noise decreased to the 8 dB in the sound level.

  • When operating NC lathe, gear box which is equipped with gear train and spindle sometimes generates loud noise and excessive vibrations. In order to identify their causes, In this study, torsional and lateral vibration characteristics including critical speeds of the gear train-spindle system are first analyzed by using torsional and lateral vibration models of the gear train and shafts. Natural frequencies and modes of the gear box structure are also analyzed by impulse hammer test. Furthermore, measured vibration and noise signals are analyzed and compared with theoretical analysis results. At last it is concluded that the cause of the excessive mise and vibration is the resonance between gear meshing frequency including its side bands, shaft bending and torsional vibration frequencies, and the natural frequencies of th gear box structure. Consequently the noise and vibration levels are greatly reduced by avoiding resonance between them through the redesign of the gear module.

  • Impulsive sound and vibration signals in gear are often associated with their faults. Thus these impulsive sound and vibration signals can be used as indicators in the diagnosis of gear fault. The early detection of impulsive signal due to gear fault prevents from complete failure in gear. However it is often difficult to make objective measurement of impulsive signals because of background noise signals. In order to ease the detection of impulsive signals embedded in background noise, we enhance the impulsive signals using adaptive signal processing.

  • Various methods to improve the planetary gear noise in the vehicle were introduced. And planetary gear systems were analyzed Therefore a common thing among the different planetary gear systems which generate the gear noise in the vehicle was founded. Most importantly, a frequency versus vibration level map was introduced and a predictive method, which is considering the masking effect, to design the planetary gear sets in the concept design stage was described.

  • There is a merit a planetary gear set disperses a delivery load, and to decrease loss of friction and noise. But, in addition to meshing this internal and external gear simultaneously and phase difference by the tooth contact point and the time difference occurs asymmetric and symmetric sideband noise and vibration caused by the modulation in the vehicle. Existing planetary gear set research have progressed to reduce the cause of the sideband as run-out, pitch error and imbalance. In this paper presents a method for the design of the carrier phase difference by developing various theorys and experiments for gear noise.

  • Gearing system emits inconsistent noise from gear teeth impact in case of gear defects. But, it is not easy for inspection operator in production line to distinguish objectively the defective product. Therefore, customer complains continuously bad noise of the geared motor. Because impulsive signal at low frequency has a tendency not to appear in frequency domain, it is difficult to separate the gear inconsistent noise of defective gear from overall geared motor's noise using general signal processing method such as FFT. In this paper, the method to estimate more objectively the inconsistent noise of gearing system and to measure the quantities is suggested. Suggested method uses Cepstrum, Autocorrelation, Comb Lifter and Inverse Cepstrum by turns to make objective quantities about noise level.

  • The high speed of an engine balance box may cause significant additional gear noise. Gear accuracy is the most useful key to reduce gear noise, but the small tooth width and thin-walled anti-backlash gear introduce challenges to the manufacturing process. In order to reduce the gear noise caused by gear pitch error, this paper investigates the correlation between influencing factors and gear pitch error by analyzing the processing technology, tooling fixture, and equipment accuracy. By improving the process and optimizing the gear design, the gear machining accuracy was improved and the processing cost was saved.

  • A generalized special program called planetary transmission analysis(here in after PTA) is developed to improve planetary gear noise in automatic transmission. PTA is capable of analyzing any typical one-degree-of-freedom automatic transmission gear train containing any number of simple, compound or complex-compound planetary gear sets. The kinematics module in PTA can compute the rotational speeds of gears and carriers and calculate the order frequencies to predict the planetary noise components. The power flow analysis module performs a complete static force analysis providing forces, moments, or torques of gears, bearings, clutches and connections. Based on the given type and number of planetary gear sets, the search algorithm determines all possible kinematic configurations and gear tooth combinations in a required set of gear ratios, while eliminating whole kinematic redundancies and unfavorable clutching sequences. By using PTA program, planetary internal speeds of new developed automatic transmission are early obtained; therefore, possibility of the noise problem could be predicted in early design stage. As implementing PTA in planetary gear NVH development procedure, planetary gear noise was successfully reduced by 10 dBA.
