연소 불안정 현상의 비선형적 특성 고찰 (Note on Nonlinearity of Combustion Instability)

  • Combustion instability phenomena have been observed in various different combustion systems. For each specific combustion system, pressure fluctuations measured during high frequency combustion instability presented many different characteristics. High frequency instability occurring in a lean premixed gas turbine combustor mar be dominantly affected by a nonlinear relation between pressure oscillations and heat release rate fluctuations, and gas dynamics plays a crucial role in determining an amplitude of a limit cycle for a liquid rocket thrust chamber. Combustion instability phenomena manifest their inherent nonlinear characteristics. One is a limit cycle and the other bifurcation described by nonlinear time series analysis.

PMDSPH: A Hybrid N-Body and SPH Code and Its Application to the Milky Way

  • PMDSPH is a combined 3D particle-mesh and SPH code aimed to simulate the self-consistent dynamical evolution of spiral galaxies including live stellar and collisionless dark matter components, as well as an isothermal gas component. This paper describes some aspects of this code and shows how its application to the Milky Way helps to recover the gas flow within the Galactic bar region from the observed HI and CO longitude-velocity distributions.

  • This paper presents the result of numerical simulation of particles trace following melted zinc movement with nitrogen gas injection. The code of the computational fluid dynamics for numerical analysis was performed using FLUENT related to CFD. As application model, there was applied Eulerian multiphase model for simulation of melted zinc movement at first and then was used stochastic tracking technique for particles trace secondarily. Numerical simulation results are shown that particles move to the same direction as the movement of melted zinc.

CENSUS AND ANALYSIS OF GALACTIC MOLECULAR CLOUDS

  • In this project, all available databases of molecular and gas-dust clouds in the Galaxy were cross-identified by taking into account available properties, including position, angular dimensions, velocity, density, temperature and mass. An initial list of about 7000 entries was condensed into a cross-identified all-sky catalogue containing molecular and gas-dust clouds. Some relationships were studied between the main physical features of clouds. Finally, we prepared a complex observing program and address future work for filling in the gaps.

  • World has become interested in the development of new dean energy because of oil prices rise and global warming due to carbon dioxide emissions. This study evaluated the safety of the refueling infrastructure for hydrogen, CNG and HCNG(hydrogen blended natural gas) which recently take center stage as a clean fuel. The risk of fuel was evaluated by 3D computational fluid dynamics program for gas dispersion and explosion. Hydrogen is higher than the CNG explosion overpressure and shows rapid spread. On the other hand, CNG and 30% HCNG showed quite similar characteristics. HCNG slightly rises in risk than the CNG, but HCNG is safe compared to hydrogen.

  • CFD cold-flow analysis results of the air-blast swirl nozzle for the small aircraft engine combustor are shown. Two major recirculation zones are observed near the nozzle. The centerline recirculation zone velocity profile of CFD is compared with the experimental results.

  • 고분자 분리막을 이용한 기체 분리막은 높은 에너지 효율, 경제적인 장점으로 최근 수년간 지속적으로 개발되어 왔다. 최적화된 경제적 성능을 얻기 위하여 기체 분리막은 높은 투과도와 선택도를 가져야 한다. 따라서 기체분리 분리막용으로 다양한 고분자를 시험한 연구 결과들이 보고되어 왔다. 다양한 소재 중, 폴리이미드는 다양한 기체인자에 대하여 높은 투과 선택도와 높은 화학적 열적 안정성, 그리고 물리적 안정성으로 많은 주목을 받아왔다. 따라서 본고에서는 기체분리용 폴리이미드 소재의 개발동향과 분리막의 제조방법, 기체 분리의 원리에 대하여 다루었다.

가스추진선박의 가스연료공급시스템에 대한 CFD를 이용한 정량적 위험도 해석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Quantitative Risk Analysis Using CFD for the Fuel Gas Supply System of Gas Fueled Ship)

  • LNG has significant advantages in regard to environmental aspects comparing with conventional fuel oil. In fact, it is estimated that NOx and SOx emission can be reduced by about 90% and 100%, respectively in case of using LNG as a fuel. LNG-fuelled ship has been considered to be the best option both from an environmental and an economic point of view. Along with these trends, some major shipyards and Classification Societies have started to carry out the risk-based system design for LNG-fuelled ship such as passenger ship, platform supply vessel and large container vessel etc. However, new conceptual gas fuelled ship has high risk level compared with vessel using traditional crude oil especially in view of gas explosion accident. Therefore safety area where installed fuel gas supply system is required risk based system design with special considerations. On this paper, the entire process necessary for the quantitative risk analysis was explained to meet the satisfactory safety level of gas fuelled ship.

  • To improve the safety, the fuel cell operate inside a pressurized enclosure which contains inert gas so called protective gas. The protective gas not only prevents the mixture of hydrogen and oxygen, but also removes the water in the vessel with the condenser. This study presents the details of the flow optimization in order to reduce the humidity in the fuel cell housing. The protective gas flow in the fuel cell container is studied by Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) simulations. This study focuses on optimizing the geometry of an protective gas circulation system in fuel cell module to reduce the humidity in the vessel. CFD analysis was carried out for an existing model to understand the flow behavior through the fuel cell system. Based on existing model CFD results, geometrical changes like inlet placement, optimization of outlet size, modification of fuel cell module system are carried out, to improve the flow characteristics. The CFD analysis of the optimized model is again carried out and the results show good improvement in protective gas flow behavior.

CFD를 이용한 용융탄산염 연료전지 스택의 수치모사 (Numerical Analysis of Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell Stack Using Computational Fluid Dynamics)

  • 상용 CFD 프로그램인 FLUENT v5.3을 이용하여 용융탄산염 연료전지 스택의 수치 모사를 행하였다. FLUENT에 포함되어 있는 보존식들을 이용하면서, 사용자 정의함수를 이용하여 포함시킨 코드를 통해 전기화학적 반응과 부반응인 수성가스전이반응에 의한 질량과 가스 조성 변화 및 열이동을 고려하여 정확한 계산 결과를 얻고자 하였다. 모사에 사용된 스택은 6kW급과 25kW급 스택으로 각각 20개와 40개의 단위전지를 수직으로 적층한 형태이며 스택내로 주입되는 가스는 coflow형태로 각각의 채널을 흘러가게 설계되어 있다. 모사를 통해 알아본 스택 내 압력분포는 가스 흐름방향으로 압력강하가 일어나며 anode 채널보다 cathode 채널에서의 압력차가 더 크게 나타났다. 채널 내 속도분포는 전극 반응에 의한 질량 및 부피변화로 인해 anode 채널에서는 가스흐름 방향으로 속도가 증가하는 반면 cathode 채널에서는 속도가 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 스택 내 온도분포는 가스 흐름방향으로 증가하는 경향을 보였고, 계산결과와 실험결과가 대체로 일치함을 확인할 수 있었다. 수성가스전이반응을 포함한 모델과 그렇지 않은 모델을 비교한 결과 가스의 주입구 부분에서는 수성가스전이반응에 의해 흡열 반응이, 출구 부분에서는 발열반응이 일어나고, 이로 인해 입구와 출구의 온도차가 더 커짐을 확인하였다. 따라서 상용화 스택인 수백 kW급 이상의 대형 스택을 모사하기 위해서는 수성가스전이반응을 고려해야할 것으로 생각된다.
