Knowledge Ecological Approach is used to explain the emergence of Korea online-game industry. The research shows several knowledge factors that Korea online-game developed successfully. First, newly developed human resource(mainly lead users) play a strong positive feedback in the knowledge ecology system. The interactive system consists of social & environmental actors(local/global technological textbooks, universities, informal education institutes, companies etc.). Second, early developers start up venture firms through on/offline creative communities which give them project based job experience. Policy implication of the research is that the naturally emerged knowledge ecology, where various actors interact efficiently, determines the fountain new industry rather than discontinuous, intentional physical resources.

  • As Major League Baseball (MLB)'s continuous decline in popularity has caused its game attendance to drop gradually, the league makes a desperate attempt such as game rule changes to remain relevant. Along with the introduction of new rules to make games more dynamic such as the pitch clock, bigger bases, and defensive shift limitations, it is important for MLB franchises to understand drivers for game attendance. We focus on the effect of accumulated winning performance of the two teams on game attendance, one of the key drivers of game attendance, and investigate how it is influenced by consumer and industry factors such as online search and game rule changes. We find that game attendance increases as the prior winning performance of the home (away) team increases (decreases). We also find that online search and rule changes for more dynamic games moderate the effect of winning performance on game attendance.

  • Game have become a universal leisure culture for the world. However, not only did the development of the game industry have a positive impact on society, but it also brought about various social problems, such as adversely affecting youth and encouraging criminal acts. In order to minimize these effects, countries around the world operate a game rating system to provide games suitable for age and social values from children and young people to the general public. Since games are new digital content, the limitations of the rating system are still discussed in many studies. Therefore, this study investigates the current status of global game regulation by investigating game rating systems of various countries including Korea. In addition, by comparing and analyzing the game rating system in Korea and the system of other countries, this study suggests a direction to improve our system more appropriately. The results of this study will contribute to securing the effectiveness and standardization of domestic game classification system.

  • The game industry has grown to represent the domestic cultural industry, but the socio-cultural status of the game is not as high as industrial growth. In the early 2000s, the problem of dysfunctional use of youth games became a social issue and the game culture policy was established for 15 years. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of policy on the prevention of dysfunction, The prevention of dysfunction of the game is somewhat effective, but the diffusion of positive function is insufficient and the improvement of recognition becomes more negative tendency. The effect is insufficient compared to the policy results. It is necessary to adjust the direction of game culture policy through consideration of securing basic data, post-management of policy, enhancement of cultural meaning, and universality of game culture.

  • This paper is aimed at analyzing the relationship between users' actions in relation to a SNG (Social Network Game), which mainly targets communities, and the motivations that give rise to such selective actions. The subjects of existing researches on game area have rarely dealt with game users but mainly focused on the studies and utilization of game production technologies; and, in cases of studies on games users, their subjects have been hardly more than observations of users' behaviors in relation to the performance to achieve certain goals or themes of a game; for example, upgrading a character's level or obtaining rewards through "defeat". Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the actions of SNS game users from the perspective of behavioral selections caused by various motivations of human beings rather than approaching from the perspective of problem solving methods. In order to accomplish this goal, fist of all, Lazzaro's People Fun model and motivation theory of SNS users will be analyzed. Secondly, relevant materials from 13 SNG cases will be collected. Games' events and the functional actions of users will be classified. Lastly, the primary actions of SNG users will be classified into 8 different types and motivations - action patterns will be analyzed based on the classified materials.

However, the reality in Korea is that there are not enough game scenario writers or work available. That is because traditional scenario writers cannot easily enter the game scenario field due to the unique techniques involved In game scenario writing, which differs from traditional film scenario work. The purpose of this thesis is to examine the unique skills and technicalities evident in game scenarios based upon theories studied so far. Hopefully, this thesis will give a better understanding of the significance of using game scenario writers to schools and companies.
