Using the service innovation system model, the development of Korean online game industry is analyzed. The model proposed by Gallouj (2002) is modified in order to reflect IT service characteristics such as network externalities. Success factors and innovations patterns of Korean online game industry are examined. First, at the early stage of her growth, Korean online game industry was not supported or coordinated by any Government policies unlike DRAM, CDMA or TFT-LCD. Many parts of technical and service innovations were unintentionally initiated by online game developing ventures without predeterminde strategies. Second, the online game industry is basically a service industry so that users' needs and technical and service characteristics are intertwined to produce innovation. The innovation system of the online game industry is quite different from conventional product technological innovation systems in a sense that there are no blueprints for innovation as well as major players in the system. Third, Government's policies for promotion of IT industry such as the broadband infrastructure installation policy, the hi-tech venture promotion policy and the military exemption policy contributed greatly to development of the online game industry. However, these policy tools were not intended for online game industry but in the end gave a great impact on the service innovation system of the online game industry.
This research investigates on relationships between game experience and its positive effects by using social self-efficacy measurement. When playing MMORPG, game users communicate with each other and go through various social experiences. Thus, online game offer a virtual place where we can have social interactions and it eventually expands our daily life. In this study, we used regression analysis to explore how online game experiences influence social self-efficacy. The results indicated that a group with higher frequency game use presented higher social self-efficacy. We suggest future researches and discussions focusing on the positive effects of game use rather than negative issues and game restrictions.
This study analyze the relationships between game and adolescent's happiness. By survey of middle school and high school students in Pusan, this study want to find how playing game influences the happiness of middle school and high school students. In result, playing game and having a good grade influences adolescent's happiness. But whether one is good at game and how long one plays game are not the factors which influences adolescent's happiness. The adolescents who play game are more happier than the adolescents who don't play game. And playing game is more important factor to adolescent's happiness than having a good grade.
This study presents the analysis results through the experiments how to increase the user participation via the user created game contents(UCGC) which user oneself can produce in a game. The experiment was carried out for whether the three elements of self-express desire, providing game money, and competitiveness can increase active participation in UCGC by using a mobile game called 'Color Pop'. Through this, we summarized the comparative results of the importance and influence for the three elements. It is expected that it will be used to improve understanding of UCGC users and plan or produce UCGC.

The Push-Pull-Mooring (PPM) model employ to explore the factors that affect the switching intention of mobile game players by analyzing the online survey data of 240 mobile game players in China. From the perspective of PPM model, Dissatisfaction with the current mobile game can promote players to leave the current mobile game, and other more attractive mobile games can pull players out of the current mobile game. As a mooring factor, habit can affect players' switching decisions. Players who have formed strong habits in current mobile games are more likely to resist or ignore the attractiveness of other mobile games and stay in the current mobile games rather than migrate to other mobile games. Another result shows that the more dissatisfied with the current mobile game, the higher the quality of alternative (relative challenge) mobile game, and the lower the investment size in the current mobile game, the more reluctant the players are to continue to maintain the relationship with the current mobile game. The higher the player's commitment to the current mobile game, the more likely it is to maintain the relationship with the current mobile game. The empirical results show that the framework of this study is highly consistent with the results of PPM model, and confirming that they can well apply to mobile game situations.
Twenty years have passed since the first game department was established in Korea. We now need to review and foresee the future of game department curriculums. In this paper, we characterize and analyze the current curriculums of game departments in Korean colleges. The study focuses on the detailed course works based on the game making processes, which are largely composed of game design, game programming and game graphic design. Then we analyze the past curriculum changes of the game programming and the game graphic design departments. Also, we survey the curriculums of cinema departments which are older than game departments, thus may show the hint for the future of game departments. As the results of the analysis, the curriculums of game departments have to strengthen the game design related courses and have to expand the game making exercise courses.
This study looks at the social implications of gaming disorder by considering the situation in Korea. Focusing on specificity of game genres, this study analyzed two aspects of the game playing effect-positive(cognitive needs) and negative(game addiction)-and suggested directions for game regulation policies and game addiction studies, since game playing effects are closely related to game regulatory policy. To analyze game effects and attitudes to regulations, this study performed regression analysis based on the online survey. Results show that game playing effects and attitudes toward game regulation differ based on the nature of game genres. While longer gaming increased the effect of addiction, it also increased cognitive needs. Playing roleplaying, Aeon of Strife, and strategy game genres(RAS), which are subject to game regulation, increased game addiction levels but simultaneously contributed to increased cognitive needs. While playing augmented reality genres positively affected cognitive needs, it also showed favorable attitudes to general game regulation.
A shooting game is all game genres that hit targets through shooting. It include a lot of genres from a flying shot of game room to a personal shooting action game. In this point, a shooting game was regarded it as the origin of all game and it was developed from the early days of game. Also it was enticed everyone to enjoy it easily. A shooting games is worked from old like ways until recently and a process of playing game is intuitive than another game. Therefore it popular with a PC player as well as persons of all levels. Beginners can train this game easily through direction such as control way of object, advent way of enemy aircraft and scroll way of background. But as an usability of working and controlling game, beginners of game development can pass over a shooting sense that shout and hit basically. And after design, they will feel that cannot convey realistic effect and thrill etc.. At a result, hitting sense happens to graphic elements and sound. Therefore a measure of effect on these elements is started from analysis of good shooting game. This study was to focus on the advance effect of hitting sense in shooting game through analysis centered for 'the Beetlewing' and '1945 Plus'.
