  • In this paper, we propose a texture feature-based language identification using Gabor feature and wavelet-domain BDIP (block difference of inverse probabilities) and BVLC (block variance of local correlation coefficients) features. In the proposed method, Gabor and wavelet transforms are first applied to a test image. The wavelet subbands are next denoised by Donoho's soft-thresholding. The magnitude operator is then applied to the Gabor image and the BDIP and BVLC operators to the wavelet subbands. Moments for Gabor magnitude image and each subband of BDIP and BVLC are computed and fused into a feature vector. In classification, the WPCA (whitened principal component analysis) classifier, which is usually adopted in the face identification, searches the training feature vector most similar to the test feature vector. Experimental results show that the proposed method yields excellent language identification with rather low feature dimension for a document image DB.

  • In this paper we propose an improved face recognition method using Gabor tensor. Gabor transform is known to be able to represent characteristic feature in face and reduced environmental influence. It may contribute to improve face recognition ratio. We attempted to combine three-dimensional tensor from Gabor transform with MPCA(Multilinear PCA) and LDA. MPCA with tensor which use various features is more effective than traditional one or two dimensional PCA. It is known to be robust to the change of face expression or light. Proposed method is simulated by MATALB9 using ORL and Yale face database. Test result shows that recognition ratio is improved maximum 9~27% compared with exisisting face recognition method.

  • The Gabor cosine and sine transform can be applied to image and video compression algorithm by representing image frequency components locally The computational complexity of forward and inverse matrix transforms used in the compression and decompression requires O($N^3$)operations. In this paper, the length of basis functions is truncated to produce a sparse basis matrix, and the computational burden of transforms reduces to deal with image compression and reconstruction in a real-time processing. As the length of basis functions is decreased, the truncation effects to the energy of basis functions are examined and the change in various Qualify measures is evaluated. Experiment results show that 11 times fewer multiplication/addition operations are achieved with less than 1% performance change.

  • The continuous Gabor wavelet transform (GWT) has been utilized as a useful time-frequency analysis tool to identify the rapidly-varying characteristics of some wave signals. In the application of GWT, it is important to select the Gabor wavelet with the optimal shape factor by which the time-frequency distribution of a signal can be accurately estimated. To find the signal-dependent optimal Gabor wavelet shape factor, the notion of the Shannon entropy which mesures the extent of signal energy concentration in the time-frequency plane is employed. To verify the validity of the present entropy-based scheme, we have applied it to the time-frequency analysis of a set of elastic bending wave signals generated by an impact in a solid cylinder.

  • We introduce, in this paper, the face recognition method that improves recognition rate and training time in eigen system. To increase recognition rate we use Gabor filter. To reduce the increasing training time owing to use Gabor filtering, we extract new feature vectors that are made with average and standard deviation. In experimental results, we get higher recognition rate and shorter training time in improved system than it in original eigen system.

  • In this paper, we propose method of generation of depth map using vanishing line and texture. vanishing line is generated by parallel lines in image. For generate vanishing line, show boundary of particular angle through Gabor Filter and extract line through Hough Transform. Initial Depth Map is estimated based on vanisihng line and combine Relative Depth map that generated using Texture Cue. The proposed algorithm advanced due to combine Initial Depth Map and Relative Depth Map.

  • In this paper, we improved the clarity and quality of the radar imaging by applying motion compensation for time-frequency transform in B-ISAR imaging. The proposed motion compensation algorithm using UWB radar is verified. B-ISAR algorithm procedure and time-frequency transform for improved motion compensation are provided for theoretical ground. The image was created by a UWB Radar B-ISAR imaging algorithm method. Also, creating a B-ISAR imaging algorithm for motion compensation of time-frequency transformation method was used. The B-ISAR Imaging algorithm is implemented using STFT(Short-Time Fourier Transform), GWT(Gabor Wavelet Transform), and WVD(Wigner-Ville Distribution) approaches. The performance of STFT is compared with the GWT and WVD algorithms. It is found that the WVD image shows more clarity and decreased spread phenomenon than other methods.

  • Image denoising as one of image enhancement methods has been studied a lot in the spatial and transform domain filtering. Recently wavelet transform which has an excellent energy compaction and a property of multiresolution has widely used for image denoising. But a transform based on human visual system is visually useful if an end user is human beings. Therefore, Gabor cosine and sine transform which is considered as human visual filter is applied to image denoising areas in this paper. Denoising performance of the proposed transform is compared with those of the derivatives of Gaussian transform being another human visual filter and of discrete wavelet transform in terms of PSNR. With three levels of various noises, experimental results for real images show that the proposed transform has better PSNR performance of 0.41dB than DWT and 0.14dB than DGT.

  • This study was carried out fusion-welded butt joints in SWS 490A high strength steel subjected to tensile test that load-deflection curve. The windowed or short-time Fourier transform(WFT or STFT) makes possible for the analysis of non-stationary or transient signals into a joint time-frequency domain and the wavelet transform(WT) is used to decompose the acoustic emission(AE) signal into various discrete series of sequences over different frequency bands. In this paper, for acoustic emission signal analysis to use a continuous wavelet transform, in which the Gabor wavelet base on a Gaussian window function is applied to the time-frequency domain. A wavelet transform is demonstrated and the plots are very powerful in the recognition of the acoustic emission features. As a result, the technique of acoustic emission is ideally suited to study variables which control time and stress dependent fracture or damage process in metallic materials.
