An Efficient Location Cache Scheme for 3-level Database Architecture in PCS Networks (PCS 네트워크에서 3-레벨 데이터베이스 구조를 위한 효과적인 위치 캐시 기법)

  • Recently, hierarchical architectures of databases for location management have been proposed in order to accommodate the increase in user population in future personal communication systems. In particular, a 3-level hierarchical database architecture is compatible with current cellular mobile systems. In the architecture, a newly developed additional databases, regional location database(RLR), are positioned between HLR and VLRs. We propose an efficient cache scheme, called the Double T-thresholds Location Cache Scheme. The cache scheme extends the existing T-threshold location cache scheme which is competent only under 2-level architecture of location databases currently adopted by IS-41 and GSM. The idea behind our scheme is to use two pieces of cache information, VLR and RLR serving called portables. The two pieces are required in order to exploit root only locality of registration area(RA) but also locality of regional registration area(RRA) which is the wide area covered by RLR. We also use two threshold values in order to determine whether the two pieces are obsolete. In order to model the RRA residence time, the branching Eralng-$\infty$ distribution is introduced. Our minute cost analysis shows that the double T-threshold location cache scheme yields significant reduction of network and database costs for molt patterns of portables.

  • One method of Electric Power Generation is to use piezoelectric materials, which form transducers that are able to interchange electrical energy and mechanical force or strain. This study describes the fabrication and properties of piezoelectric transducers for Power Generation application. The structure of the transducers was ceramic-metal-ceramic 3-layered parallel type The center metal layer of phosphorous bronze was bonded by two piezoelectric layers of which have sputtered Ag/Cu(or Ni/Cu) electrode layers on both sides.. The Energy generated by the vibration of piezoelectric transducers Can be achieved by adjusting a suitable piezoelectric constant and mechanical structures. The piezoelectric material used in this application showed the electrical properties of r=4400, $d_{33}\;=\;750\;(10^{-12}\;m/V)$, $d_{31}\;=\;-300\;(10^{-12}\;m/V)$, $k_{33}\;=\;71%$, $Qm\;=\;85$, $T_c\;=\;210^{\circ}C$.

  • 유역 물순환 개선 기술은 기후변화 및 토지이용변화가 진행 중에 있거나 예상되는 지역에 대하여 강우-유출수를 지연, 저류, 침투시켜 지속가능한 물순환체계를 유지?회복하도록 하는 기술이라 할 수 있다. 기후변화 및 토지이용변화에 따른 영향을 평가하고, 지속가능한 유역 물순환체계를 구축하여 적응 전략을 체계적으로 수립하기 위해서는 물순환 개선 기술의 정립 및 개발이 필수적이다. 그러나 현재 유역 물순환 개선기술은 일부 시가화 지역에 국한되어 있어 유역 규모의 개선 전략을 수립하는데 한계가 있다. 또한, 물순환계의 변화량을 평가하기 위한 모형화 기법 역시 해외에서 개발된 기술을 여과 없이 도입하여 국내의 환경을 충분히 반영하기는 어렵다. 개발된 유역 물순환 개선 및 평가시스템은 기존 국가연구개발사업을 통해 개발되고 사업화에 성공한 바 있는 유역 물순환 평가 모형인 CAT(Catchment hydrologic cycle Assessment Tool)을 수정 및 개선하여 기후변화에 따른 영향을 평가하고 적응 대책을 수립하기 위한 실무적인 소프트웨어이다. 침투트렌치, 식생침투트렌치, 습지, 저류지, 빗물탱크 등의 물순환개선시설에 대한 효과를 평가할 수 있도록 개별시설의 제원에 따른 물순환개선 효과를 정량적으로 평가하여 제시한다. 기후변화에 따른 장기간의 유역 물순환을 평가하기 위해서는 물리적 매개변수 기반의 수문해석 보다는 단순환된 개념적 매개변수 기반의 집중형 장기유출 해석이 필요할 수 있다. 따라서 국내외에서 많이 사용되고 있는 장기 일유출 모형(GR4J, GSM, HBV, SYMHYD, TANK, TPHM 등)을 유역 물순환 개선 평가 플랫폼에 탑재함으로써 소유역의 특성을 반영한 기후변화 적응 일유출 해석이 가능하도록 하였으며, 각 모형들의 매개변수는 수동보정 외에도 SCE-UA를 이용한 자동보정이 가능하도록 시스템으로 구축하였다. 개발된 유역물순환 개선 및 평가시스템은 실무적 차원에서 기후변화에 따른 유역 물순환 개선 기술을 적용하고 평가하는데 있어서 매개변수 입력자료 구축에 따른 자원 소요 시간 및 시스템 개발 비용을 획기적으로 단축시켰으며 국외 의존도가 높은 수문 해석모형을 국내 기술로 개발함으로써 기술자립도를 높이고 국내 및 해외의 유역의 성공적인 적용을 통하여 성능을 입증하였다. 기후변화에 따른 수자원의 재평가, 개선시설의 정량적 평가 및 하천유역의 수자원관리 실무에 적용성이 높을 것으로 기대된다.

Effects of Ethanol Extract of Prunus mume on the Antioxidative System and Lipid Peroxidation on Ethanol-Induced Hepatotoxicity in Rat Liver (매실 추출물이 알코올 투여 흰쥐의 항산화계 및 지질과산화에 미치는 영향)

  • To investigate the antioxidative effects of Prunus mume ethanol extract on the ethanol-induced hepatotoxicity in rat liver, Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 120∼160 g were divided into 5 groups; normal group(NOR), Prunus mume ethanol extract 200mg/kg treated group(PME), ethanol(10 mL/kg, 35%) treated group(ETH), Prunus mume ethanol extract 200 mg/kg and ethanol treated group (PML) and Prunus mume ethanol extract 400 mg/kg, and ethanol treated group(PMF), respectively. The antioxidative activity in vitro was reduced in order of EtOAC>n-hexane>water> chloroform fraction. The growth rate and feed efficiency ratio decreased by ethanol administration were gradually increased to the adjacent level of NOR by administering Prunus mume ethanol extract. It was observed that activities of catalase, superoxide dismutase(SOD), xanthine oxidase and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) of liver and alanine aminotransferase(ALT) and asparate aminotransferase(AST) of serum were elevated by ethanol administration. Besides, Prunus mume ethanol extract markedly decreased elevated activites of catalase, GSH-Px, ALT and AST, except in activites of SOD and xanthine oxidase compared to ETH. Also, the depleted content of GSH by ethanol was increased similar to NOR level by administering Prunus mume ethanol extract. These results suggested that Prunus mume ethanol extract has a possible protective effect on the ethanol-induced hepatotoxicity in rat liver.

CORRELATION BETWEEN MONTHLY CUMULATIVE AURORAL ELECTROJET INDICES, DST INDEX AND INTERPLANETARY ELECTRIC FIELD DURING MAGNETIC STORMS (자기폭풍 기간 동안의 월별 누적 오로라 제트전류 지수, Dst 지수 및 행성간 전기장 사이의 상관관계)

  • Magnetospheric substorms occur frequently during magnetic storms, suggesting that the two phenomena are closely associated. We can investigate the relation between magnetospheric substorms and magnetic storms by examining the correlation between AE and Dst indices. For this purpose, we calculated the monthly cumulative AU, $\mid{AL}\mid$ and $\mid{Dst}\mid$ indices. The correlation coefficient between the monthly cumulative $\mid{AL}\mid$ and $\mid{Dst}\mid$ index is found to be 0.60, while that between monthly cumulative AU and $\mid{Dst}\mid$ index is 0.28. This result indicates that substorms seem to contribute to the development of magnetic storms. On the other hand, it has been reported that the interplanetary electric field associated with southward IMF intensifies the magnetospheric convection, which injects charged particles into the inner magnetosphere, thus developing the ring current. To evaluate the contribution of the interplanetary electric field to the development of the storm time ring current belt, we compared the monthly cumulative interplanetary electric field and the monthly cumulative Dst index. The correlation coefficient between the two cumulative indices is 0.83 for southward IMP and 0.39 for northward IMF. It indicates that magnetospheric convection induced by southward IMF is also important in developing magnetic storms. Therefore, both magnetospheric substorm and enhanced magnetospheric convection seem to contribute to the buildup of magnetic storm.

Effect of Dietary Bacillus sp. Inoculated Feather Meal on the erformance and Nutrient Utilization in Broiler (Bacillus sp. 접종 우무분이 Broiler 의 생산성과 영양소 이용율에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the replacing fish meal or soybean meal effect of with feather meal or Bacillus sp. inoculated feather meal in broiler diets on the performances and nutrient utilization. One hundred and eighty broilers were randomly allotted to six dietary treatments(1) control, basal diet; (2) BFMl00, Fish meal replacing at 100% level with bacillus sp. inoculated feather meal; (3) BSM20, Soybean meal replacing at 20% level with bacillus sp. inoculated feather meal; (4) BFMl00+BSM20, Fish meal and soybean meal replacing at 100% level and 20% level with bacillus sp. inoculated feather meal, respectively; (5) GFMl00, Fish meal replacing at 100% level with general feather meal; and (6) GSM20, Soybean meal replacing at 20% level with general feather meal) in a 5 week feeding trial. In overall period, body weight gain of control was the highest(1,623g) and those of BFM 100, BFM 100+ BSM 20 and GFM 100 were 1,572g, 1,564g, and 1,078g, respectively. And that of GFM 100(1,078.3g) was the lowest(p<0.05) among treatments. Digestibility of dry matter for BFM 100+BSM 20(81.46%) was higher(p<0.05) than that for other treatments, and that of crude protein was the lowest (p<0.05). Digestibilities of organic matter were significantly(p<0.05) improved when Bacillus sp. inoculated feather meal was replaced at 100% level with fish meal in the basal diet. Methane and hydrogen sulfide gases from the feces were significantly(p<0.05) decreased in chicks fed the control, BFM 100 and GFM 100 diets, when observed after 3 weeks of feeding trials. Feed costs of the control and BFM 100 were 417 and 384 won, respectively but that of BSM 20 was 558 won. Therefore, replacement of fish meal with Bacillus sp. inoculated feather meal in the diets for chicks could be useful for economic production.

Estimation of Precipitable Water from the GMS-5 Split Window Data (GMS-5 Split Window 자료를 이용한 가강수량 산출)

  • Observation of hydrometeors' behavior in the atmosphere is important to understand weather and climate. By conventional observations, we can get the distribution of water vapor at limited number of points on the earth. In this study, the precipitable water has been estimated from the split window channel data on GMS-5 based upon the technique developed by Chesters et al.(1983). To retrieve the precipitable water, water vapor absorption parameter depending on filter function of sensor has been derived using the regression analysis between the split window channel data and the radiosonde data observed at Osan, Pohang, Kwangiu and Cheju staions for 4 months. The air temperature of 700 hPa from the Global Spectral Model of Korea Meteorological Administration (GSM/KMA) has been used as mean air temperature for single layer radiation model. The retrieved precipitable water for the period from August 1996 through December 1996 are compared to radiosonde data. It is shown that the root mean square differences between radiosonde observations and the GMS-5 retrievals range from 0.65 g/$cm^2$ to 1.09 g/$cm^2$ with correlation coefficient of 0.46 on hourly basis. The monthly distribution of precipitable water from GMS-5 shows almost good representation in large scale. Precipitable water is produced 4 times a day at Korea Meteorological Administration in the form of grid point data with 0.5 degree lat./lon. resolution. The data can be used in the objective analysis for numerical weather prediction and to increase the accuracy of humidity analysis especially under clear sky condition. And also, the data is a useful complement to existing data set for climatological research. But it is necessary to get higher correlation between radiosonde observations and the GMS-5 retrievals for operational applications.
