In order to investigate the effects of Mangumtang(MT) and Gamimangumtang(GMT) experimental studies were performed in Ex.1(treated with cholesterol and administration of sample at a time) and Ex.2(administration of sample after the treatment of cholesterol). The results were summerized as follows : 1. The content of Total cholesterol in the serum was not significantly decreased in MT group, whereas in GMT group significantly decreased compared with control group in Ex.1 and all significantly decreased in MT group and GMT group in Ex.2. 2. The content of Triglyseride in the serum was all significantly decreased in MT group and GMT group in all case. 3. The content of Phospholipid in the serum was not significantly decreased in MT group, whereas in GMT group was significantly decreased compared with control group in Ex.1 or Ex.2. 4. The content of Free Fatty Acid in the serum was all significantly decreased in MT group and GMT group in all case. 5. The content of HDL-Cholesterol in the serum was tended to decreased compared with control group but did not show a significance in Ex.1 or Ex.2. 6. The content of LDL-Cholesterol in the serum was not significantly decreased in MT group and GMT group in Ex.1, whereas in Ex.2 not significantly decreased in MT group but significantly decreased in GMT group. According to the above results, it is assumed that Mangumtang and Gamimangumtang have a valid effect on Hyperlipidemia, especially Gamimangumtang have a more valid effect on prevention and cure of Hyperlipidemia.

GDP-mannosyltransferase (GMT) is an enzyme responsible for the addition of a mannose to glucose ($\alpha$[1$\rightarrow$3]) during biosynthesis of the water-soluble branched polysaccharide acetan in Acefobacter species. In an effort to obtain a cellulose-overproducing bacterium, a mutant defective in GMT of Acetobacter xylinum KCCM 10100 was constructed by single crossover homologous recombination using part of the aceA gene encoding GMT amplified by polymerase chain reaction. The GMT-disrupted mutant produced 23% more cellulose, but 16% less water-soluble polysaccharide than those of the wild-type strain. Analysis of the sugar composition by gel permeation chromatography revealed that water-soluble polysaccharides produced by the GMT-defective mutant contained no mannose molecule.

GMT(Giant Magellan Telescope)는 그레고리안(Gregorian) 방식 망원경이다. 일반적으로 그레고리안 방식은 포물면인 주경과 타원면인 부경으로 구성되어 있으나, GMT의 주경은 비구면계수가 -0.99829인 타원면이다. 부경은 지름 1.063m 7장의 반사경이 3.2m의 부경을 이루며 곡률반경은 4.2058m, 비구면계수는 -0.71087이다. 주경과 부경은 모두 1장의 중앙 반사경과 6장의 비축 반사경으로 이루어져 있다. 따라서 GMT 광학계에서 대구경 비축 비구면 반사경의 가공 및 테스트는 매우 중요하다. 이 발표에서는 GMT 부경을 테스트하기 위하여, 타원면의 기본적인 광학적 특성을 이용한 테스트 방법과 이 방법의 단점을 보완하기 위해 Reference 반사경을 이용하는 방법, 그리고 Null compensator를 이용한 방법 등을 제시한다. Null compensator를 이용한 방법에는 일반적으로 Autostigmatic 방식과 Autocollimation 방식이 있으며 이 발표에서는 이 두 방식을 상호 비교한 연구 결과에 대하여 논의한다.

we can say that the increasing range of the value of GMT Sheet's tensile strength in the direction of fiber orientation is getting wider as the fiber content increases. It shows that the value of GMT Sheet's tensile strength in the direction of fiber orientation 90 is similar with the value of pp's intensity when fiber orientation function is J= 0.7, regardless of the fiber content. Tensile strength of GMT Sheet is affected by the fiber orientation distribution more than by the fiber content.

Being widely used for preparation of geographic maps in the field of earth sciences, Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) is difficult to understand the contents for user, and not working well with Microsoft (MS) Window PC. By utilizing R package, 'GEOmap', we can do mapping work at MS window PC with commands easier than those of GMT. In addition, the R commands offer interactive help. Here we introduce brief feature of 'GEOmap', and illustrate the procedure for preparing tomographic maps with an example.

한국천문연구원의 대형광학망원경 개발사업(K-GMT)의 세 가지 세부 목표 중 GMT 망원경 건설 후 GMT 망원경 활용 극대화가 그 하나이며 이 목표를 달성하기 위한 두 부류의 큰 활동이 이루어지고 있다. 첫째, 국내 전문가로 구성된 과학.기기 워킹그룹(Science Instrument Working Group)은 한국천문학계 연구역량강화 프로그램을 준비하고 시행하고 있으며 2012년 K-GMT 여름학교를 개최할 예정이다. 둘째, 천문연은 2개의 핵심연구주제를 선정하고 2011년부터 학계와 공동으로 pilot 연구를 수행하고 있다. 이 학연공동연구에서는 AAT를 이용한 남반구 별탄생영역 관측, CFHT를 이용한 은하단/은하군 관측을 수행하였고 2012년엔 UKIRT 망원경을 이용하여 우리은하평면의 [FeII] 서베이 관측 등을 수행할 계획이다.

Serum samples were collected from 100 breeders and their progeny 600 broilers. The breeders and broilers were vaccinated against infectious bronchitis(IB), infectious bursal disease(IBD) and Newcastle disease(ND) viruses according to general vaccination program. The antibodies in serum samples against IB, IBD and ND viruses were detected by ELISA using commercial ELISA kit. Geometric mean titer(GMT) of ELISA was monitored from 1-day-old to 35-day-old broilers and compared to that of breeder chickens. The GMT of ELISA to IB, IBD and ND was declined half level of the day old broiler's antibody titers at about 4, 9 and 4 days of age. The GMT of ELISA to IB, IBD and ND was declined than that of protective antibody titer at about 12, 11, and 15 days of age. Thereafter, the GMT of ELISA to IB, ND were declined and disappeared according to age of broilers. The GMT of ELISA to IBD was declined according to age of broilers, but at 25 days of age increased and 31 days of age increased than that of protective antibody titer. Taken together, these studies led to conclusion that time-course of antibody titers of broilers from vaccinated breeders and that of progeny broliers which vaccinated according to vaccine program. Those are very important data to design vaccine program to breeders and broilers.

Gumiganghwal-tang (GMT) is a traditional herbal prescription used for treatment of the common cold, pain, and inflammatory diseases. Variations in the amounts of bioactive components of GMT and GMT fermented with 10 Lactobacillus strains were investigated by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). Simultaneous qualitative and quantitative analyses of eleven bioactive compounds (prim-O-glucosylcimifugin, liquiritin, cimifugin, baicalin, liquiritigenin, wogonoside, baicalein, wogonin, butylphthalide, imperatorin, and isoimperatorin) were performed, with comparison of their retention times (tR) and UV spectra with those of standard compounds. The amounts of baicalin (8.71 mg/g), liquiritigenin (5.28 mg/g) and butylphthalide (5.10 mg/g) were the major compounds in GMT. We found that L. fermentum KFRI 145 fermented wogonoside and baicalin to their aglycones, wogonin and baicalein, respectively. These results indicated that L. fermentum KFRI 145 has potential as a functional starter culture for manufacturing fermented GMT.

대형 천문학 연구 프로젝트들의 교육자 및 일반인을 위한 교육자료 제공이 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 국내에서도 천문학 연구에 대한 홍보와 일반인들의 천문학에 대한 이해 증진을 위하여 교육자료 개발 및 보급이 절실히 필요하다. 본 발표에서는 현재 우리나라가 참여 중인 GMT 프로젝트의 교육자료 개발의 첫 단계로 ibooks author로 개발될 GMT e-book을 소개하고자 한다. 또한 향후 다양한 교육 매체 개발 및 활용에 대한 방안을 제시하고 천문학 대중화에 관심 있는 분들의 의견을 듣고자 한다.

The GMT project is moving ahead smoothly and is approaching the construction phase expected to begin around mid 2014. In this contribution, we will introduce the status of activities being made for the preparation of construction phase, including the Preliminary Design Review of sub-systems, the casting of primary mirror segments, and the GMT retreat.
