Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are widely used for various food fermentation. With the recent advances in modern biotechnology, a variety of bio-products with the high economic values have been produced using microorganisms. For molecular cloning and expression studies on the gene of interest, E. coli has been widely used mainly because vector systems are fully developed. Most plasmid vectors currently used for E, coli carry antibiotic-resistant markers. As it is generally believed that the antibiotic resistance markers are potentially transferred to other bacteria, application of the plasmid vectors carrying antibiotic resistance genes as selection markers should be avoided, especially for human consump-tion. By contrast, as LAB have some desirable traits such that the they are GRAS(generally recognized as safe), able to secrete gene products out of cell, and their low protease activities, they are regarded as an ideal organism for the genetic manipulation, including cloning and expression of homologous and heterologous genes. However, the vec-tor systems established for LAB are stil insufficient to over-produce gene products, stably, limiting the use of these organisms for industrial applications. For a past decade, the two popular plasmid vectors, pAM$\beta$1 of Streptococcus faecalis and pGK12 theB. subtilis-E. coli shuttle vector derived from pWV01 of Lactococcus lactis ssp. cremoris wg 2, were most widely used to construct efficient chimeric vectors to be stably maintained in many industrial strains of LAB. Currently, non-antibiotic markers such as nisin resistance($Nis^{r}$ ) are explored for selecting recombi-nant clone. In addition, a gene encoding S-layer protein, slp/A, on bacterial cell wall was successfully recombined with the proper LAB vectors LAB vectors for excretion of the heterologous gene product from LAB Many food-grade host vec-tor systems were successfully developed, which allowed stable integration of multiple plasmid copies in the vec-mosome of LAB. More recently, an integration vector system based on the site-specific integration apparatus of temperate lactococcal bacteriophage, containing the integrase gene(int) and phage attachment site(attP), was pub-lished. In conclusion, when various vector system, which are maintain stably and expressed strongly in LAB, are developed, lost of such food products as enzymes, pharmaceuticals, bioactive food ingredients for human consump-tion would be produced at a full scale in LAB.
Background: Cervical cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in India. Understanding quality of life (QOL) in women undergoing chemo-radiotherapy for cervical cancer will help in introducing interventions for better care and outcomes in these women. This study assessed QOL before and after chemo-radiotherapy in cervical cancer patients. Materials and Methods: This follow-up study covered sixty-seven newly diagnosed women with advanced cervical cancer (stages 2b to 4b). Structured questionnaires (the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer, EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC QLQ-CX24) were used to assess the change in QOL after 6 months of treatment. Results: The mean age of women at the time of detection of cervical cancer was $52.3{\pm}11.29$ years (Range 30-75 years). Six months survival was 92.53%. The mean global health score of cervical cancer patients after six months of treatment was 59.52, which was significantly higher than the pre-treatment score of 50.15 (p=0.00007). Physical, cognitive and emotional functioning improved significantly (p<0.05) after treatment. Fatigue, pain, insomnia and appetite loss improved but episodes of diarrhea increased after treatment. The mean "symptoms score" using EORTC QLQ-CX24 post treatment was 20.0 which was significantly lower as compared to the pre- treatment score 30.0 (p<0.00001). Sexual enjoyment and sexual functioning decreased significantly after treatment. Conclusions: QOL of newly diagnosed cervical cancer patients improved significantly following chemo-radio therapy. Enhancement was also demonstrated on three of the five functional scales of EORTC QLQ-C30. To further improve QOL, interventions focusing on social and psychological support and physical rehabilitation may be needed.
In this study, magnetite($Fe_3$$O_4$) from the converter dust of the Kwangyang steel making factory has been recove-red by means of the magnetic separation and the sedimentation column. The magnetite recovered from the dust is used for the preparation of Sr-ferrite instead of hematite. The results obtained in this study as follows : 1. The converter EP dust of the Kwangyang steel making factory are composed of $\alpha$-Fe, ($Fe_3$$O_4$) wustite etc. Magnetite in the converter EP dust is recovered by using sedimentation column and plastic bonding magnet. 2. It was confirmed that Sr-ferrite synthesis could be possible without oxidizing roasting of the magnetite. The steps of Sr-ferrite formation are proposed as follows : I$SrCO_3$$+Fe_3$O$_4$+1/2(1-X)$O_2$longrightarrow$\alpha$$-Fe _2$$O_3$$+SrFeO _3$\ulcorner+$CO_2$II. $5.5\alpha$$-Fe_2$$O_3$$+SrFeO_3$\ulcornerlongrightarrowSrFe\ulcornerO\ulcorner+1/2(1/2-X)$O_2$3. By using magnetite from the dust insted of hematite, the hard Sr-ferrite magnet of (B.H)\ulcorner=2.64MGOe in the magnetic characteristics was succesfully prepared.

This paper illustratesthe impact of the temporal gap between satellite images and targetsize in mesoscale atmospheric motion vector (AMV) algorithm. A test has been performed using GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK2A) rapid-scan data sets with a temporal gap varying between 2 and 10 minutes and a targetsize between 8×8 and 40×40. Resultsshow the variation of the number of AMVs produced, mean AMV speed, and validation scores as a function of temporal gap and target size. As a results, it was confirmed that the change in the number of vectors and the normalized root-mean squared vector difference (NRMSVD) became more pronounced when smaller targets are used. In addition, it was advantageous to use shorter temporal gap and smaller target size for the AMV calculation in the lower layer, where the average speed is low and the spatio-temporal scale of atmospheric phenomena is small. The temporal gap and the targetsize are closely related to the spatial and temporalscale of the atmospheric circulation to be observed with AMVs. Thus, selecting the target size and temporal gap for an optimum calculation of AMVsrequires considering them. This paper recommendsthat the optimized configuration to be used operationally for the near-real time analysis of mesoscale meteorological phenomena is 4-min temporal gap and 16×16 pixel target size, respectively.

The stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) describes a method of delivering a high dose of radiation to a small tar-get volume in the brain, generally in a single fraction, while the dose delivered to the surrounding normal tissue should be minimized. To perform automatic plan of the SRS, a new method of multi-isocenter/shot linear accelerator (linac) and gamma knife (GK) radiosurgery treatment plan was developed, based on a physical lattice structure in target. The optimal radiosurgical plan had been constructed by many beam parameters in a linear accelerator or gamma knife-based radiation therapy. In this work, an isocenter/shot was modeled as a sphere, which is equal to the circular collimator/helmet hole size because the dimension of the 50% isodose level in the dose profile is similar to its size. In a computer-aided system, it accomplished first an automatic arrangement of multi-isocenter/shot considering two parameters such as positions and collimator/helmet sizes for each isocenter/shot. Simultaneously, an irregularly shaped target was approximated by cubic structures through computation of voxel units. The treatment planning method by the technique was evaluated as a dose distribution by dose volume histograms, dose conformity, and dose homogeneity to targets. For irregularly shaped targets, the new method performed optimal multi-isocenter packing, and it only took a few seconds in a computer-aided system. The targets were included in a more than 50% isodose curve. The dose conformity was ordinarily acceptable levels and the dose homogeneity was always less than 2.0, satisfying for various targets referred to Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) SRS criteria. In conclusion, this approach by physical lattice structure could be a useful radiosurgical plan without restrictions in the various tumor shapes and the different modality techniques such as linac and GK for SRS.
It has been studded that combustion and the production of air pollution of anthracite - bituminous coal blend In a fluidized bed coal combustor, The objects of thIns study were to investigate mixing characteristics of the particles as well as the combustibility of the low grade domestic anthracite coal and Imported h19h calorific bltununous coal in the fluidized bed coal combustor. They were used as coal samples ; the domestic low grade anthracite coal with heating value of 2,010kca1/kg and the Imported high grade bituminous coal with beating value of 6,520kca1/kg. Also, the effects of air flow rate and anthracite fraction on the reaching time of steady state condition have been studied. The experimental results are presented as follows. The time of reaching to steady state was affected by the temperature variation. The steady state time was about 120 minute at 300sc1h which was the fastest. It has been found that $O^2$ and $CO^2$ concentration were reached steady state at about 100 minute. It has been found that $O^2$ concentration decreased and $CO^2$ concentration increased as the height of fluidlzed bed Increased. It was found that splash zone was mainly located from 25cm to 35cm above distributor. Also, as anthracite traction Increased, the mass of elutrlatlon particles Increased, and $CO^2$ concentration decreased. As gk flow rate Increased,$O^2$ concentration decreased and $CO^2$ concentration increased. Regardless of anthracite fraction and flow rate, the uncombustible weight percentage according to average diameter of elutriation particles were approldmately high In the case of One Particles. As anthracite traction and k now rate Increased, elutriation ratio Increased. As anthracite fraction was increased, exit combustible content over feeding combustible content was Increased. Regardless of anthracite fraction, size distribution of Ued material from discharge was almost constant. Over bed temperature 85$0^{\circ}C$ and excess air 20% , the difference of combution efficiencies were little. It is estimate that the combustion condition In anthracite-bituminous coal blend combustion is suitable at the velocity 0.3m/s, bed temperature 85$0^{\circ}C$, the excess air 20%.

The clear sky radiance (CSR) is one of the baseline products of the Himawari-8 which was launched on October, 2014. The CSR contributes to numerical weather prediction (NWP) accuracy through the data assimilation; especially water vapor channel CSR has good impact on the forecast in high level atmosphere. The focus of this study is the quality analysis of the CSR of the Himawari-8 geostationary satellite. We used the operational CSR (or clear sky brightness temperature) products in JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) as observation data; for a background field, we employed the CSR simulated using the Radiative Transfer for TOVS (RTTOV) with the atmospheric state from the global model of KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration). We investigated data characteristics and analyzed observation minus background statistics of each channel with respect to regional and seasonal variability. Overall results for the analysis period showed that the water vapor channels (6.2, 6.9, and $7.3{\mu}m$) had a positive mean bias where as the window channels(10.4, 11.2, and $12.4{\mu}m$) had a negative mean bias. The magnitude of biases and Uncertainty result varied with the regional and the seasonal conditions, thus these should be taken into account when using CSR data. This study is helpful for the pre-processing of Himawari-8/Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) CSR data assimilation. Furthermore, this study also can contribute to preparing for the utilization of products from the Geo-Kompsat-2A (GK-2A), which will be launched in 2018 by the National Meteorological Satellite Center (NMSC) of KMA.

Ginseng Radix(GR) had been used widely from oriental medicine and the effects of it have been investigated by many researchers. The purpose of present study was to investigate the effects of GR on the cell cycle progression and its molecular mechanism in human fetal osteoblast. The results were as follows. Increased cell proliferation was observed in cells exposed to 100 ng/ml, 10 ng/ml of GR-1 at 12 hours and 24 hours, 1 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-1 at 48 hours, and 100 ${\mu}g$/ml, 10 ${\mu}g$/ml of GK-2 at 12 hours, all treatment groups of GR-2 at 24 hours(p<0.05). S phase and G1 phase was increased in the group of treated with 100 ng/ml of GR-1, with 10 ${\mu}g$/ml and 1 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-2, with 100 ${\mu}g$/ ml and 10 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-3 in the cell cycle analysis. The cell cycle regulation protein levels of Cyclin D1, Cyclin E, CDK 2. CDK 4 and CDK 6 were increased in the group of treated with 1 ${\mu}g$/ml and 100 ng/ml of GR-1, with 10 ${\mu}g$/ml and 1 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-2, with 100 ${\mu}g$/ ml and 10 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-3. On the other hand, p21 was decreased in the treatment group with 1 ${\mu}g$/ml and 100 ng/ml of GR-1, with 10 ${\mu}g$/ml and 1 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-2, 10 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-3, and p53 and p16 was decreased in the treatment group with 100 ng/ml of GR-1, 100 ${\mu}g$/ml and GR-3 and pRb was decreased in the all treatment groups except 1 ${\mu}g$/ml of GR-1. These results suggested that GR increases the cell proliferation and the cell cycle progression in human fetal osteoblast, which is linked to increased cell cycle regulation protein levels of Cyclin D1 , Cyclin E, CDK 2, CDK 4, CDK 6 and decreased cell cycle regulation protein levels of p21, pRb.

The study was carried out to identify several factors affecting isolation and culture of cotyledone and leaf mesophyll protoplasts of cabbage (Brassica oleraceae), petsai (B.campestris subsp. pekinensis) and rape (B.napus). High viable protoplasts could be obtained when the cotyledon and the leaf mesophyll tissue of all species were treated with enzyme solution composed of 1% macerozyme 'R-10', 1.5% Onozuka 'R-10', 10% mannitol and 50,0 mM $CaCl_22H_2O$ for 4 hours. The protoplasts which obtained from the cotyledon of all species except the cabbage and the leaf mesophyll tissue of all species were divided on NN culture medium supplemented with 9.1% mannitol, 1% glucose, 1% sucrose, $1mg/{\ell}$ 2,4-D, $0.5mg/{\ell}$ NAA and $0.5mg/{\ell}$ BA. The division of the rape leaf mesophyll protoplasts were continued and led to colony.
This study was conducted to establish a safe cultivation technique of rice in the area irrigated with polluted water. The changes of water and grain quality were investigated in the two paddy soils which are located in the adjacent of Geumho river in 1991. The results obtained in this study are as follows : 1. The qualities of irrigation water were shown to be in the range of 6.7~7.4 in pH, 21.3~52.8ppm in COD. 3.2~5.3ppm in $NH_4-N$ and 1.6~6.0ppm in $PO_4$, respectively. Concentration of COD and $NH_4-N$ were over the standard levels. Therefore, the water pollution was mainly caused by organic waste matters. 2. Ranges of the Soil pH of Gyeongsan and Gyuam series were 5.6~6.0, 6.1~6.3 respectively. The contents of avaiable $P_2O_5$ and $SiO_2$ were high in the silicate treatment plots among other plots. 3. Degree of irrigation water pollution of Geumho river showed the highest peak in June. 4. Plant height, number of panicle and yield of rice grain were not decreased by the diminution of nitrogen fertilizer application. 5. The $Mg/(K{\times}N)$ ratio and Gel consistency of milled rice were increased in the nitrogen decreasing plot, but the alkali digestability value and protein content were decreased. Therefore, it was desirable to decrease the amount of nitrogen fertilizer application.
