  • A typical map image is consisted of number, symbols and lines that represent contour lines, geographical bounaries, roads, rivers and etc. This paper describe the separation. The separation algorithm is based on structural relation. The separation of proposed method is better than method using only a size of connected component. This proposed method will be used in GIS input system efficiently.

  • A 3D indoor model becomes an indiscernible component of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information System). However, a huge amount of time and human resources are inevitable for collecting spatial measurements and creating such a 3D indoor model. Also, a varied forms of 3D indoor models exist depending on their purpose of use. Thus, in this study, three different 3D indoor models are defined as 1) omnidirectional images, 2) a 3D realistic model, and 3) 3D indoor as-built model. A series of reconstruction methods is then introduced to construct each type of 3D indoor models: they are an omnidirectional image acquisition method, a hybrid surveying method, and a terrestrial LiDAR-based method. The reconstruction methods are applied to a large and complex atrium, and their 3D modeling results are compared and analyzed.

  • Public transportation network in our country is concentrated and advanced focusing on urban area in order to secure economic feasibility. As a result, as dependence on private vehicles is relatively getting higher in public transportation vulnerable area, traffic problem occurs since the average running speed in urban area is 22.5km/h. This paper has an objective to suggest an improvement plan by selecting public transportation vulnerable area, and defining according to urban structure, formation and function, and understand traffic characteristics and draw problems. As a method selecting public transportation vulnerable area, an area with high division rate of vehicle was selected as a primary proposed site by calculating division rate of means of public transportation according to area. Final proposed site was selected by using GIS Buffering technique aiming at selected proposed site, and selecting non-benefit area 500m outside, which is the road limit distance from each subway and bus station. Lastly, the degree of improvement effect was studied by constructing imaginary public transportation network aiming at final proposed site and comparing to the amount of change in division rate of means of transportation.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop landslide susceptibility analysis techniques using artificial neural network and to apply the developed techniques to the study area of janghung in Korea. Landslide locations were identified in the study area from interpretation of satellite image and field survey data, and a spatial database of the topography, soil, forest and land use were consturced. The 13 landslide-related factors were extracted from the spatial database. Using those factors, landslide susceptibility was analyzed by artificial neural network methods, and the susceptibility map was made with a e15 program. For this, the weights of each factor were determinated in 5 cases by the backpropagation method, which is a type of artificial neural network method. Then the landslide susceptibility indexes were calculated using the weights and the susceptibility maps were made with a GIS to the 5 cases. A GIS was used to efficiently analyze the vast amount of data, and an artificial neural network was turned out be an effective tool to analyze the landslide susceptibility.

  • Facilities Management(FM) System is widely spread GIS applications introduced in local governments. Over the last few years many local governments in Korea have developed facilities management systems, especially for underground facilities(drinking water and sewerage) and road management systems. The concept of Standardized Facilities Management Software(SFMS) was developed to minimize the duplication of efforts in local governments. Recently local governments try to change their direction to Urban Information Systems(UIS) which can comprehensively manage their information project carried out by each sector. Therefore this study suggests a method for introducing a Standardized Facilities Management Software to help constructing urban information system. This method is expected to prevent double investment, reduce project time, minimize the risk of project failure, and activate information projects.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the functions of green spaces for the environment amelioration in Chongju City. The results obtained from this study were as follows; 1. Total amounts of $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ which can be absorbed by green spaces in Chongju City from EPA model were calculated as 27,655 tons and l,551 tons per year, respectively. 2. It was estimated that more green spaces were needed to mitigate the effect of air pollutants emitted from industrial complex at Songjung-Dong, Bokdae-Dong and Sachang-Dong in Chongju City. This is acquired as a result of overlaying the map of administrative district, forest state, and $SO_2$ isoline using GIS method. 3. The amounts of green spaces and the selection of their proper location have to be considered at the stage of city planning and in this case, the amounts of air pollutants are also considered.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a land use planning model (LUPM) which can be applied to development of rural villages considering their spatial expansion. The LUPM finds out and allocates the new built site required for the improvement of existing villages. in the development of LUPM, CA (cellular automata) and land suitability analysis methods were applied combinedly. The model uses basically numerical data of CIS based on grid data. Agglomerated settlement, as a type of village for simulation, was adopted. Probability of land use change for optimizing development area was calculated by the six criteria: slope. drainage characteristic, direction of slope, as absolute suitability of grid itself, distance from road. distance from stream and distance from the village center, as relative probability by neighborhood cells. Weighting values of these criteria were quantified by AHP (analytic hierarchy process) method, which is one of MCE(multi-criteria evaluation) method. The algorithm of the model was verified by three example villages: an isolation village, a village with horizontal road, and a village with nodal point of cross road

  • In order to support effective decision-making related to inter-sewage planning, this study proposes the spatial distribution method of inter-sewage treatement area using spatial analysis of GIS, Communication system of database, spatial interaction of Gravity model. Evalution Indexs are consist of economic, social/political and environmental condition value which are explained by the analysis of AHP algorithm ,based on opinion of related experts. Network module in Arc/Info is applied in order to find out minimum pipeline root in Miho river watershed, one of the sub-basin of Geum river basin. This value also is utilized for the construction of cost decay function in gravity model.

  • In this study, we proposed GIS-based Regional Crime Prevention Index (RCPI) development method designed to support local governments with systematic crime prevention activities. The public interest in safe urban environment is increasing rapidly. The government is putting efforts into crime prevention activities to eliminate the criminal opportunities in advance. CPTED is method to prevent crimes in the city by improving environmental factors that cause crime. It is used by local governments to promote the crime prevention activities centering on the expansion of CCTVs and street lamps and the improvement of street environment. However, most policies were terminated as one-off programs and it is necessary to monitor the effect of such policies on a continuous basis. In order to alleviate issues, this study proposed RCPI as part of crime safety assessment in urban environments. The estimation of RCPI in City A of Gyeonggi-do showed relative differences in 31 districts (dong), indicating that it is also possible to evaluate the crime safety in the local community on the level of the administrative dong, the smallest administrative district in the urban environments. As a crime map, the RCPI will be used effectively as he reference to support the decision making process for local government in the future.

  • This study was to develop a tow-dimensional model system for the hydrodynamic analysis and to apply the system on the downstream of Han River. it is performed to design a GIS-based hydrodynamic system for the scientific shallow water profile analysis, and to compare hydrodraulic modeling is the Petrov-Galerkin's finite element method for flow prediction model. This study was to construct a GIS-based river flow system, and it is useful for supporting user's decision making for the on-line status through various analysis. We expect that the results from this study can be used as one of the guidelines for river analysis and management system in order rivers, reservoirs, and estuaries.
