  • This study analyze Family gaps(the wage gap between mothers and non-mothers) across the wages distribution in Korea using 2008 Korean Labor and Income Panel Study. Analysis models include Heckman's two stage estimation to control women's labor participation selection and Quantile regression method to examine the effects of children at different points of the wage distribution. The result indicates that first, comparing non-mothers, mothers with one child suffer statistically significant hourly wage losses at 25th, 50th, and 75th distribution, however not significant effects are found at lowest(10th) and highest(90th) distribution. Second, comparing non-mothers, mothers with two more children suffer statistically significant hourly wage losses at all distribution. Family gap differs across the wage distribution and highest family gaps are found at 25th distribution. With these results, the author suggests universal family policies to support mothers' labor participation and the reconciliation of work and family.

  • Due to the structural characteristic of a double roller, the double roller can have various deformation behaviors depending on a gap block design, even if dimensions and loading conditions for the double roller are the same. Based on this feature, we propose a strategy for designing the gap block of the carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) double roller to minimize defects (e.g., sagging and wrinkling), which can be raised during the product conveying process, with the pursue of the lightweight design. In the suggested strategy, analysis cases are first selected by considering main design parameters and engineering tolerances of the gap block, and then deformation behaviors of these selected cases are extracted using the finite element method (FEM). Here, to obtain the optimal gap block parameters that satisfy the purpose of this study, deformation deviations in the contact area are calculated and compared using the extracted deformation behaviors. Note that the contact area in this work is located between the product and the roller. As a result, through the design method of the gap block proposed in this work, it is possible to construct the CFRP double roller that can significantly decrease the defects without changing the overall sizes of the roller. A detailed method is suggested herein, and the results are evaluated in a numerical way.

  • Business analysis is a key factor of project success or failure in information systems. However, there are few studies on business analysis competencies. The objective of this paper is to identify which competencies a business analyst (BA) needs, and analyze the importance weights and priorities of business analysis competencies. Literature review yielded 6 competency dimensions and 30 competencies. Based on interviews with 12 experts and analytic hierarchy process analysis, the relative importance weight and priority of each business analysis competency were analyzed. Moreover, an importance-perception gap between stakeholders in different positions was identified. This result can be used as selection and development criteria for superior BAs that are responsible for solving business problems using information systems solutions.

  • In this study, we estimated missing evapotranspiration (ET) data at a eddy-covariance flux tower in the Cheongmicheon farmland site using the Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The ANN showed excellent performance in numerical analysis and is expanding in various fields. To evaluate the performance the ANN-based gap-filling, ET was calculated using the existing gap-filling methods of Mean Diagnostic Variation (MDV) and Food and Aggregation Organization Penman-Monteith (FAO-PM). Then ET was evaluated by time series method and statistical analysis (coefficient of determination, index of agreement (IOA), root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE). For the validation of each gap-filling model, we used 30 minutes of data in 2015. Of the 121 missing values, the ANN method showed the best performance by supplementing 70, 53 and 84 missing values, respectively, in the order of MDV, FAO-PM, and ANN methods. Analysis of the coefficient of determination (MDV, FAO-PM, and ANN methods followed by 0.673, 0.784, and 0.841, respectively.) and the IOA (The MDV, FAO-PM, and ANN methods followed by 0.899, 0.890, and 0.951 respectively.) indicated that, all three methods were highly correlated and considered to be fully utilized, and among them, ANN models showed the highest performance and suitability. Based on this study, it could be used more appropriately in the study of gap-filling method of flux tower data using machine learning method.

  • The high-level radioactive waste (HLW) produced from nuclear power plants is disposed in a rock-mass at a depth of hundreds meters below the ground level. Since HLW is very dangerous to human being, it must be disposed of safely by the engineered barrier system (EBS). The EBS consists of a disposal canister, backfill material, buffer material, and so on. When the components of EBS are installed, gaps inevitably exist not only between the rock-mass and buffer material but also between the canister and buffer material. The gap can reduce water-retarding capacity and heat release efficiency of the buffer material, so it is necessary to investigate properties of gap-filling materials and to analyze gap spacing effect. Furthermore, there has been few researches considering domestic disposal system compared to overseas researches. In this reason, this research derived the peak temperature of the bentonite buffer material considering domestic disposal system based on the numerical analysis. The gap between the canister and buffer material had a minor effect on the peak temperature of the bentonite buffer material, but there was 40% difference of the peak temperature of the bentonite buffer material because of the gap existence between the buffer material and rock mass.

  • Deep learning-based profiling side-channel analysis is a powerful analysis method that utilizes the neural network to profile the relationship between the side-channel information and the intermediate value. Since the neural network interprets each point of the signal in a different dimension, jitter makes it much hard that the neural network with dimension-wise weights learns the relationship. This paper shows that replacing the fully-connected layer of the traditional CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) with global average pooling (GAP) allows us to design the inherently robust neural network inherently for jitter. We experimented with the ChipWhisperer-Lite board to demonstrate the proposed method: as a result, the validation accuracy of the CNN with a fully-connected layer was only up to 1.4%; contrastively, the validation accuracy of the CNN with GAP was very high at up to 41.7%.

  • Purpose: In the treatment of high-energy protons Air gap (the distance between the patient and the exit Beam) Lateral Penumbra of the changes to the increase in the radiation fields can form unnecessary and Increase the maximum dose at the site of treatment and reduced the minimum dose homogeneity of dose distributions can decline. Air gap due to this change in dose distribution compared to investigate studied. Materials and Methods: Received proton therapy at our institution Lung, Liver patients were selected and the size of six other Air gap in Field A and Field B 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 cm Proton external beam planning system by setting up a treatment plan established. Air gap according to the Lateral Penumbra area and DVH (Dose Volume Histogram) to compare the maximum dose and minimum dose of PCTV areas were compared. In addition, the dose homogeneity within PCTV Homogeneity index to know the value and compared. Results: Air gap (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 cm) at each change in field size were analyzed according to the Lateral Penumbra region Field A Change in the Air gap 2~10 cm by 1.36~1.75 cm, the average continuously increased about 28.7% and Field B Change in the Air gap 2~10 cm by 1.36~1.75 cm, the average continuously increased about 31.6%. The result of DVH analysis for relative dose of the maximum dose According to Air gap 2~10 cm is the mean average of 110.3% from 108.1% to a sustained increased by approximately 2.03% and The average relative dose of minimum dose is the mean average of 93.9% percent to 90.8 percent from the continuous decrease of about 3.31 percent. The result of Homogeneity index value to the according to Air gap 2~10 cm is the 2-fold increase from 1.09 to 2.6. Conclusion: In proton therapy case, we can see the increasing of lateral penumbra area when airgap getting increase. And increasing of Dmax and decreasing Dmin in the field are making increase homogeneity index, So we can realize there are not so good homogeneity in the PCTV. Therefore we should try to minimize air gap in proton therapy case.

  • The research of air gap flux density has a significant effect on predicting and optimizing the structure parameters of electrical machines. In the paper, the air gap coefficient, leakage flux factor and saturation coefficient are first analytically expressed in terms of motor properties and structure parameters. Subsequently, the analytical model of average air gap flux density for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous machines is proposed with considering slotting effect and saturation. In order to verify the accuracy of the proposed analytical model, the experiment and finite element analysis (FEA) are used. It shows that the analytical results keep consistency well with the experimental result and FEA results, and the errors between FEA results and analytical results are less than 5% for SPM with high power. Finally, the analytical model is applied to optimizing the motor structure parameters. The optimal results indicate that the analytical calculation model provides a great potential to the machine design and optimization.
