Prediction of Melting Point for Drug-like Compounds Using Principal Component-Genetic Algorithm-Artificial Neural Network

  • Principal component-genetic algorithm-multiparameter linear regression (PC-GA-MLR) and principal component-genetic algorithm-artificial neural network (PC-GA-ANN) models were applied for prediction of melting point for 323 drug-like compounds. A large number of theoretical descriptors were calculated for each compound. The first 234 principal components (PC’s) were found to explain more than 99.9% of variances in the original data matrix. From the pool of these PC’s, the genetic algorithm was employed for selection of the best set of extracted PC’s for PC-MLR and PC-ANN models. The models were generated using fifteen PC’s as variables. For evaluation of the predictive power of the models, melting points of 64 compounds in the prediction set were calculated. Root-mean square errors (RMSE) for PC-GA-MLR and PC-GA-ANN models are 48.18 and $12.77{^{\circ}C}$, respectively. Comparison of the results obtained by the models reveals superiority of the PC-GA-ANN relative to the PC-GA-MLR and the recently proposed models (RMSE = $40.7{^{\circ}C}$). The improvements are due to the fact that the melting point of the compounds demonstrates non-linear correlations with the principal components.

  • 본 논문에서는 신경망의 초기 파라미터(가중치, 바이어스) 값을 최적화 시키는 GA-BP(Genetic Algorithm-Backpropagation Network) 혼합 알고리즘을 이용하여 얼굴을 인식하는 방법을 제안하였다. 입력 영상의 각 픽셀들을 신경망의 입력으로 사용하고 고정 소수점 실수값으로 이루어진 신경망의 초기 파리미터 값은 유전자 알고리즘의 개체로 사용하기 위해 비트 스트링으로 변환한다. 신경망의 오차가 최소가 되는 값을 적합도로 정의한 뒤 새롭게 정의된 적응적 재학습 연산자를 이용하여 이를 평가해 최적의 진환된 신경망을 구성한 뒤 얼굴을 인식하는 실험을 하였다. 실험 결과 학습 수렴 속도의 비교에서는 오류 역전과 알고리즘 단독으로 실행한 수렴 속도보다 제안된 알고리즘의 수렴 속도가 향상된 결과를 보였고 인식률에서 오류 역전과 알고리즘 단독으로 실행한 방법보다 2.9% 향상된 것으로 나타났다.

  • The design of airfoil had practiced by repeat tests in its first stage, though an airfoil has as been designed based on simulations according to techniques of computational fluid dynamics. Here, using of traditional optimization is unsuitable because a state of flux is hypersensitive to the shape of airfoil. Therefore the paper optimized the shape of airfoil in transonic region using a genetic algorithm (GA). Response surfaces are based on back propagation neural network (BPN) and regression model. Training data of BPN and regression model were obtained by computational fluid dynamic analysis using CFD-ACE, and each analysis has been designed by design of experiments.

High Efficiency Drive of SRM using GA-Neural Network

  • The torque of SRM depends on a phase current and the inductance of the motor. But the inductance is saturated nonlinearly according to the position and current. To drive the motor effectively, the control scheme should take into account the nonlinear characteristics of the magnetic material. This paper proposes an optimal control scheme for high efficiency drive of SRM by adjusting both the turn-on and turn-off angle. The high efficiency drive points are simulated and searched by using GA-Neural Network The switching angles are nonlinearly varied with rotor speed and load.

  • This paper compares four models of artificial neural networks (ANN) supported by genetic algorithms the prediction of stock price index. Previous research proposed many hybrid models of ANN and genetic algorithms(GA) in order to train the network, to select the feature subsets, and to optimize the network topologies. Most these studies, however, only used GA to improve a part of architectural factors of ANN. In this paper, GA simultaneously optimized multiple factors of ANN. Experimental results show that GA approach to simultaneous optimization for ANN (SOGANN3) outperforms the other approaches.

  • Hybrid intelligent technique is used in ship steering control. It can make full use of the advantage of all kinds of intelligent algorithms. This provides an efficient way for this paper. An RBF neural network and GA optimization are employed in a fuzzy neural controller to deal with the nonlinearity, time varying and uncertain factors. Utilizing the designed network to substitute the conventional fuzzy inference, the rule base and membership functions can be auto-adjusted by GA optimization. The parameters of neural network can be decreased by using union-rule configuration in the hidden layer of the network. The ship control quality is effectively improved in case of appending additional sea state disturbance. The performance of controller is evaluated by the system simulation using Matlab.

  • 본 논문에서는 실수코드 유전 알고리즘(RCGA)과 인공신경망(ANN)을 이용하여 항공기용 터보 축엔진의 결함 진단에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 인공신경망만을 이용하여 엔진의 결함을 판단 할 경우 많은 학습데이터 때문에 지역 최소점으로 수렴하는 단점이 있다. 이를 개선하기 위해 전역 최소점을 찾는 능력이 뛰어난 실수코드 유전 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 5% 이내의 RMS 결함오차로 높은 결함 예측 신뢰도를 가짐을 확인하였다.

  • In this paper, genetic algorithm (GA) is the technique to search for the optimal structures (i,e., the kind of neural network, the number of hidden neuron, ..) of the neural networks which are used approximating a given nonlinear function, In this paper, we used multi layer feed-forward neural network. The decision method of synapse weights of each neuron in each generation used back-propagation method. In this study, we simulated nonlinear function approximation in the temperature control system.

  • The switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed characteristics. However higher torque ripple are one of the few disadvantages of the SRM drives. The SRM would have to operated with an MMF waveform specified for switching angle and phase voltage. This paper proposes control modelling method using ANN(Artificial Neural Network) and GA(Genetic Algorithm) that are used to control switch-on angles and input voltage.
