남산 삼림 토양에서의 효소 활성도와 중금속 함량에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Enzyme Activities and Heavy metals of Forest Soil in Mt. Nam. Seoul)

  • This study was carried out to investigate to determine seasonal variation of dehydrogenase activity, phosphatase activity, adenosine tri-phosphate content and some physicochemical properties, such as soil pH, moisture content, organic matter and several heavy metal concentrations from Apr. 1997 to jan. 1998 in Pinus densiflora and Quercus mongolica forest in Mt. Nam, to explain a relationship between enzyme activity and the soil factors. There were ranges of 4.03-4.65 in soil pH, 18.65-51.09% in moisture content and 6.69-95.95% in orgainc matter. The organic matter content decreased with soil horizon, showing the higher values in Q. mongolica forest. In comparison to the results of Kawngneung site as control area, there were slightly differences due to a development level of forest ecosystem and microbial degradation of organic matter. The heavy metal concentrations showed 32.50-75.55 ${\mu}g/g$ in Cu, 69.33-134.84 ${\mu}g/g$ in Zn, 57.02-150.32 ${\mu}g/g$ in Pb, and 0.36-1.00 ${\mu}g/g$ in Mt. Nam. These values are higher than in Kwangneung site because of long-term exposure to air pollutants from central city. On the other hand, ATP contents in Mt. Nam were lower than in Kawngneung site in relation to soil organic matter, moisture content and relatively high heavy metal concentrations. ATP contents per soil weight was largest in F+H layer and in spring time of other seasons. Dehydrogenase activity as an index of soil microbial activity had a ranges of 170.67-1,221.66 ${\mu}g$ TPF/g that showed lower values than in Kawngneung site. However, phophatase activity had a contray tendency due to P fertilization for a continuous management. Those values increased through spring to a maximum in the summer and fall in autumn. This is basically caused by metabolic state of soil on the biological activity and several and several factors, such as aeration, soil temperature, vegetation and microflora.

Atmosphere-forest Exchange of Ammoniacal Nitrogen in a Subalpine Deciduous Forest in Central Japan during a Summer Week

  • The present study aimed to investigate the diurnal variations in air concentrations and exchange fluxes of ammoniacal nitrogen ($NH_x$: ammonia ($NH_3$) and particulate ammonium) in a subalpine deciduous forest in central Japan during a week in summer. The $NH_3$ concentrations ($0.50\;{\mu}g\;N\;m^{-3}$ on average) showed a clear circadian variation, i.e., high and low in the daytime and nighttime, respectively. The concentration of particulate ammonium in the coarse fractions was extremely low, whereas that for the PM2.5 fraction was relatively high $0.55\;{\mu}g\;N\;m^{-3}$ on average). The main inorganic ion components of PM2.5 at the study site were ammonium and sulfate. The exchange fluxes of $NH_x$ were bidirectional. Both the maximum and minimum values occurred in the daytime, i.e., $0.39\;mg\;N\;m^{-2}\;hr^{-1}$ of downward flux and $0.11\;mg\;N\;m^{-2}\;hr^{-1}$ of upward flux for $NH_3$ and $0.25\;mg\;N\;m^{-2}\;hr^{-1}$ of downward flux and $0.13\;mg\;N\;m^{-2}\;hr^{-1}$ of upward flux for PM2.5 ammonium. The exchange fluxes of $NH_x$ at night could be considered as zero. The mean deposition velocity during the research period was almost zero for both $NH_3$ and PM2.5 ammonium. The atmosphere-forest exchange of $NH_x$ in the forest during the study period was balanced. The remarkably large deposition of $NH_x$ was attributable to meteorological events such as showers the night before that thoroughly washed the forest canopy and subsequent clear skies in the morning, which enhanced convection. The cleaning effect of rainfall and the rapid change in convection in the early morning should be monitored to evaluate and generalize the gas and particle exchange in a forest.

열펌프 건조기의 성능에 관한 수치해석 (A numerical study on the performance of a heat pump assisted dryer)

  • 본 연구에서는 냉매 HFC134a를 사용한 배치형 열펌프건조기(Batch type heat pump dryer)에 대하여 수치적 해석을 수행하였다. 즉 냉매의 과열도와 과냉도를 일정하게 유지하고 공기의 질량유량, 공기의 바이패스비(bypass ratio), 압축기의 회전속도, 건조기의 입구건구온도에 따른 건조기의 성능을 분석하였다. SMER에 대하여 수치해와 실험치를 비교한 결과 최대 10%이내에서 잘 일치 하였다. 또한 공기의 질량유량에 대하여 적정공기의 바이패스비가 존재하며, 건조기 입구온도가 $35^{\circ}C$이고, 압축기 회전속도가 1360rpm일 때, 공기질량유량이 0.5kg/s에서는 공기의 바이패스비가 30%, 0.7kg/s에서는 공기의 바이패스비가 40%, 0.9kg/s와 1.1kg/s에서는 공기의 바이패스비가 50%에서 최대의 SMER이 나타다. 그리고 압축기 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 SMER은 감소지만 COP는 증가하고 건조기의 입구건구온도가 증가함에 따라 SMER과 COP는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • In this paper the comparison between the neural networks and traditional approaches as system identification method are considered. Two model structures of neural networks are the state space model and the input output model neural networks. The traditional methods are the AutoRegressive eXogeneous Input model and the Nonlinear AutoRegressive eXogeneous Input model. The examples considered do not represent any physical system, no a priori knowledge concerning their structure has been used in the identification process. Testing inputs for comparison are the sinusoidal, ramp and the noise ramp.

  • MIT의 '테크놀로지 리뷰'는 2008년 10대 유망기술 중 하나로 나노 라디오를 소개하였다. 이와 관련하여, 본 논문에서는 나노 기술을 지원하기 위한 각국의 정책과, 현재까지 개발된 나노 라디오가 탄소나노튜브(cabon nano tube)를 이용한 점을 고려하여 CNT의 발견 및 특성을 간단히 소개하였다. 또한, 잇따른 나노 라디오의 개발사례와 동작원리를 설명하고, 나노 라디오의 킬러 애플리케이션과 CNT를 둘러싼 그 밖의 이슈를 함께 살펴보았다.

  • We have setup a compact and useful in-situ SMOKE system in order to study surface magnetism of ultra-thin films. Since the longitudinal or polar magnetic fields can be applied to the sample by just rotating the sample manipulator, It is very simple to take hysteresis curve for in-plane or polar surface magnetism. The SMOKE system was tested by investigating the surface magnetism of ultra-thin Co film deposited on Pt(111) surface.

  • Following the prior studs regarding that 1.0g of cotton fabric round be dyed uniformly with a reactive dye in the solvent mixture of $2m\ell$ of water and $23m\ell$ of dichloromethane, silk fabric was dyed with C. I. Reactive Blue 203 in the water/dichloromethane two-phase immiscible solvent media. In order to minimize dye loss due to its hydrolysis, the reactive dyeing was carried out in dichloromethane containing a small amount of water. With only $3m\ell$ of water in $22m\ell$ of dichloromethane, 1.0g of silk fabric could be dyed perfectly. The uptake ratio was increased greatly, compared wish that of normal reactive dyeing in a water medium. It would seem that the one of hydrophobic solvents, dichloromethane, can assist the Even dyeing as it disperses a small amount of dye-dissolved phase and conveys this water phase to the fabric entirely and uniformly.

소형 선박의 소음 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Noise in Small Boats)

  • FRP 소형 선박의 선내소음의 원인을 규명하고 이들에 대한 합리적인 허용기준 설정 및 저소음화 설계를 위해 FRP 4~11톤급 신조 소형 선박을 대상으로 시운전시에 선내소음을 측정하여 소형 선박의 선내 소음특성 및 소음과 진동과의 상관관계를 검토, 분석하고, 이들에 대해 IMO와 DNV의 허용기준상의 적합도를 비교한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 소형 선박의 선내 소음 최대 레벨 범위는 79~115$dB$(A)로 나타났다. 또한, IMO 및 DNV 규제치와 비교에서 주기관실 소음은 비슷하게 나타났으며, 상부, 하부 거주실의 소음은 각각 5~19$dB$(A), 18~22$dB$(A) 높고, 조타실의 소음은 14$dB$(A) 높았으며, 동형선 E와 G선의 소음비교에서 선박의 크기, 마력이 비슷함에도 불구하고 E선 주기관이 G선의 주기관보다 진동 및 소음이 제작당시부터 높은 것으로 판단되었다. 한편 소음원 규명을 위한 진동과의 상관관계에서 주기관실, 상부 거주실, 하부 거주실, 조타실, 연통상부 모두 3차수가 우세하게 나타났으며, 3차수가 각 선내소음을 일으키는 주원인으로 판단된다.

담배 제조공정중 발생하는 이분의 화학적 특성과 입자크기 분포 (The Chemical Properties and Particle Size Distribution of Tobacco Dust in Tobacco Process Line)

  • Tobacco dust samples were collected for two times in primary and secondary process at 4 cigarette manufacturing factories(Shintanzin, Youngju, Wonju, Kwangju) and analyzed to evaluate usage as a raw material in production of reconstituted tobacco. The chemical constituents and HWS of tobacco dust were analyzed. Tobacco dust samples were partitioned by particle size using a series of screens ranging from 20 to 200 mesh. The amount of material retained in each fraction was quantified and sand content was also determined. Appreciable average amounts$(40-65\%)$ material at 4 locations were found to be larger than 60 mesh. Although the amount of material in each fraction increased to a maximum at 100 mesh and then decreased, the $\%$ sand continually increased with decreasing particle size. The chemical constituents and HWS content of tobacco dust have similar values in secondary process of 4 cigarette manufacturing factories but the those of primary process have different values according to the site of occurrence and manufacturing factories.

A New Selection System for Pepper Regeneration by Mannose

  • We report the development of a new selection system for the transformation of pepper plants by mannose. In order to achieve this, we first tested several factors related to regeneration conditions. Among the 30 inbred lines examined, line P9l5 was able to generate shoots at the highest rate from both cotyledons and hyporotyls in MS media. A dosage curve for optimizing the selection conditions was established by mixing mannose (range 0-50 g/L) and sucrose (range 0-30 g/L). The least selection pressure on shoot formation was created by a mixture of sucrose and mannose at 20 g/L and 15 g/L, respectively, and the threshold for ultimate tissue death was 50 g/L of mannose irrespective of the sucrose concentration. However, we found that mannose itself was not the sole inhibitor of pepper shoot development. High concentrations of sucrose (30 g/L) contributed additively to the inhibition of shoot formation at higher mannose concentrations. Genotype preference is a major factor that enhances regeneration ability in mannose media, as was observed in MS media. P9l5 and P410 line had high regeneration rates under mannose selection conditions in the presence of Agrobacterium infection. Different virulence levels of Agrobacterium strains did change the regeneration rates, probably due to interaction with the specificities of the inbred lines. Taken together, P9l5 offers the best pepper inbred line for transformation and we recommend a selection condition of 20 g/L of sucrose and 15 g/L or more of mannose up to 50 g/L in media.
