  • Mobile user interface pattern (MUIP) is a kind of structured representation of interaction design knowledge. Several studies have suggested that MUIPs are a proven solution for recurring mobile interface design problems. To facilitate MUIP selection, an effective clustering method is required to discover hidden knowledge of pattern data set. In this paper, we employ the semi-supervised kernel fuzzy c-means clustering (SSKFCM) method to cluster MUIP data. In order to improve the performance of clustering, clustering parameters are optimized by utilizing the global optimization capability of particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Since the PSO algorithm is easily trapped in local optima, a novel PSO algorithm is presented in this paper. It combines an improved intuitionistic fuzzy entropy measure and a new population search strategy to enhance the population search capability and accelerate the convergence speed. Experimental results show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed clustering method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new learning method using a variable learning to improve pattern recognition in the FCSR(Fast Commit Slow Recode) learning method of the Fuzzy ART. Traditional learning methods have used a fixed learning rate in updating weight vector(representative pattern). In the traditional method, the weight vector will be updated with a fixed learning rate regardless of the degree of similarity of the input pattern and the representative pattern in the category. In this case, the updated weight vector is greatly influenced from the input pattern where it is on the boundary of the category. Thus, in noisy environments, this method has a problem in increasing unnecessary categories and reducing pattern recognition capacity. In the proposed method, the lower similarity between the representative pattern and input pattern is, the lower input pattern contributes for updating weight vector. As a result, this results in suppressing the unnecessary category proliferation and improving pattern recognition capacity of the Fuzzy ART in noisy environments.

  • In this paper, a general fuzzy syntactic method for recognition of flaw patterns and for the measurement of flaw characteristic parameters for a non-destructive inspections signal, called eddy-current, is presented. Solutions are given to the subtasks of primitive pattern selection, signal to symbol transformation, pattern grammar formulation, and event-synchronous flaw pattern extraction based on the grammars. Fuzzy attribute grammars are used as the model for the pattern grammar because of their descriptive power in the face of uncertain constraints caused by nose or distortion in the signal waveform, due to their ability to handle syntactic as well as semantic information. This approach has been implemented and the performance of eh resultant system has been evaluated using a library of law patterns obtained from steam generator tubes in nuclear power plants by an eddy current-based non-destructive inspection method.

  • In this paper, we propose a new fuzzy membership function for FSVM(Fuzzy Support Vector Machines). We apply a fuzzy membership to each input point of SVM and reformulate SVM into fuzzy SVM (FSVM) such that different input points can make different contributions to the learning of decision surface. The proposed method enhances the SVM in reducing the effect of outliers and noises in data points. This paper compares classification and estimated performance of SVM, FSVM(1), and FSVM(2) model that are getting into the spotlight in time series prediction.

  • Fuzzy logic ignores some information in the reasoning process. Neural networks are powerful tools for the pattern processing, but, not appropriate for the logical reasoning. To model human knowledge, besides pattern processing capability, the logical reasoning capability is equally important. Another new neural network called neural logic network is able to do the logical reasoning. Because the fuzzy inference is a fuzzy logical reasoning, we construct fuzzy inference network based on the neural logic network, extending the existing rule- inference. network. And the traditional propagation rule is modified. For the search strategies to find out the belief value of a conclusion in the fuzzy inference network, we conduct a simulation to evaluate the search costs for searching sequentially and searching by means of search priorities.

  • In this paper, we propose two kinds of chaos dimensions, the fuzzy correlation and fuzzy Lyapunov dimensions, for speaker recognition. The proposal is based on the point that chaos enables us to analyze the non-linear information contained in individual's speech signal and to obtain superior discrimination capability. We confirm that the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions play an important role in enhancing speaker recognition ratio, by absorbing the variations of the reference and test pattern attractors. In order to evaluate the proposed fuzzy chaos dimensions, we suggest speaker recognition using the proposed dimensions. In other words, we investigate the validity of the speaker recognition parameters, by estimating the recognition error according to the discrimination error of an individual speaker from the reference pattern.

  • In this paper, an Adaptive neuro-fuzzy Inference system(ANFIS) using fuzzy min-max network(FMMN) is proposed. Fuzzy min-max network classifier that utilizes fuzzy sets as pattern classes is described. Each fuzzy set is an aggregation of fuzzy set hyperboxes. Here, the proposed method transforms the hyperboxes into gaussian membership functions, where the transformed membership functions are inserted for generating fuzzy rules of ANFIS. Finally, we applied the proposed method to the classification problem of iris data and obtained a better performance than previous works.

  • Big data is an emerging technology which deals with wide range of data sets with sizes beyond the ability to work with software tools which is commonly used for processing of data. When we consider a huge network, we have to process a large amount of network information generated, which consists of both normal and abnormal activity logs in large volume of multi-dimensional data. Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is required to monitor the network and to detect the malicious nodes and activities in the network. Massive amount of data makes it difficult to detect threats and attacks. Sequential Pattern mining may be used to identify the patterns of malicious activities which have been an emerging popular trend due to the consideration of quantities, profits and time orders of item. Here we propose a sequential pattern mining algorithm with fuzzy logic feature selection and fuzzy weighted support for huge volumes of network logs to be implemented in Apache Hadoop YARN, which solves the problem of speed and time constraints. Fuzzy logic feature selection selects important features from the feature set. Fuzzy weighted supports provide weights to the inputs and avoid multiple scans. In our simulation we use the attack log from NS-2 MANET environment and compare the proposed algorithm with the state-of-the-art sequential Pattern Mining algorithm, SPADE and Support Vector Machine with Hadoop environment.

  • This paper proposes the compensation algorithm of conventional shift pattern using fuzzy reasoning in automatic transmission vehicles. Recently, automatic transimssion vehicles are continually increasing because of theire ease to drive. Also users require the high performance which includes the smooth shift quality and shift scheduling that matches driver;s intentions. So the shift scheduling has been inproved significantly through the application of electronic control. But, in spite of this development, vehicles using conventional shift pattern are sometimes in discord with driver's intention on roads. In this paper, the paper, the proposed compensation algorithm makes a automatic transmission vehicle be able to select an optimal gear shifting time and position using fuzzy reasoning and make a vehicle driver feel confortable even when the vehicle runs on roads which is extremely changed. Therefore, a vehicle driver can expect to reduce the nimber of unnecessary gear shifting and expect the fuel efficiency high. To show usefulness of the proposed method, some simulation are made to compared with conventional gear shifting. Paper prosposes the compensation mehtod of conventional shift pattern using fuzzy reasoning for the purpose that a vehicle can select an optimal gerar shifting time and position in automatic vehicle. Though the conventional shift pattern has no pliability, vehicle driver can feel comfortable and can reduce the number of unnecessary gear shifting using the proposed method on variable road condition. Therefore, it can be expected the fuel efficiency.

  • In this paper, we introduce the fuzzy neural network based on the individual input space to design the pattern recognizer. The proposed networks configure the network by individually dividing each input space. The premise part of the networks is independently composed of the fuzzy partition of individual input spaces and the consequence part of the networks is represented by polynomial functions. The learning of fuzzy neural networks is realized by adjusting connection weights of the neurons in the consequent part of the fuzzy rules and it follows a back-propagation algorithm. In addition, in order to optimize the parameters of the proposed network, we use real-coded genetic algorithms. Finally, we design the optimized pattern recognizer using the experimental data for pattern recognition.
