This paper presents a new design algorithm for the combination with the fuzzy classifier and the Bayesian classifier. Only few attempts have so far been made at providing an effective design algorithm combining the advantages and removing the disadvantages of two classifiers. Specifically, the suggested algorithms are composed of three steps: the combining, the fuzzy-set-based pruning, and the fuzzy set tuning. In the combining, the multi-inputs and multi-outputs (MIMO) fuzzy model is used to combine two classifiers. In the fuzzy-set-based pruning, to effectively decrease the complexity of the fuzzy-Bayesian classifier and the risk of the overfitting, the analysis method of the fuzzy set and the recursive pruning method are proposesd. In the fuzzy set tuning for the misclassified feature vectors, the premise parameters are adjusted by using the gradient decent algorithm. Finally, to show the feasibility and the validity of the proposed algorithm, a computer simulation is provided.

In this paper, we discuss a fuzzy neural network classifier with immune algorithm. The fuzzy neural network classifier is constructed with the fuzzy classifier and the neural network classifier based on fuzzy rules. To maximize performance of classifier, the immune algorithm and the back propagation algorithm are used. For the generalized classification ability, the simulation results from the iris data demonstrate superiority of the proposed classifier in comparison with other classifier.

In this paper, we proposed the new fuzzy pattern classifier which combines several fuzzy models with simple consequent parts hierarchically. The basic component of the proposed fuzzy pattern classifier with hierarchical structure is a fuzzy model with simple consequent part so that the complexity of the proposed fuzzy pattern classifier is not high. In order to analyze and divide the input space, we use Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm. In addition, we exploit Conditional Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm to analyze the sub space which is divided by Fuzzy C-Means clustering algorithm. At each clustered region, we apply a fuzzy model with simple consequent part and build the fuzzy pattern classifier with hierarchical structure. Because of the hierarchical structure of the proposed pattern classifier, the data distribution of the input space can be analyzed in the macroscopic point of view and the microscopic point of view. Finally, in order to evaluate the classification ability of the proposed pattern classifier, the machine learning data sets are used.
This paper presents new pruning and learning methods for the fuzzy rule-based classifier. The structure of the proposed classifier is framed from the fuzzy sets in the premise part of the rule and the Bayesian classifier in the consequent part. For the simplicity of the model structure, the unnecessary features for each fuzzy rule are eliminated through the iterative pruning algorithm. The quality of the feature is measured by the proposed correctness method, which is defined as the ratio of the fuzzy values for a set of the feature values on the decision region to one for all feature values. For the improvement of the classification performance, the parameters of the proposed classifier are finely adjusted by using the gradient descent method so that the misclassified feature vectors are correctly re-categorized. The cost function is determined as the squared-error between the classifier output for the correct class and the sum of the maximum output for the rest and a positive scalar. Then, the learning rules are derived from forming the gradient. Finally, the fuzzy rule-based classifier is tested on two data sets and is found to demonstrate an excellent performance.

In this paper, we propose a Fuzzy Classifier System(FCS) to find a set of fuzzy rules which can carry out the edge detection. The classifier system of Holland can evaluate the usefulness of rules represented by classifiers with repeated learning. FCS makes the classifier system be able to carry out the mapping from continuous inputs to outputs. It is the FCS that applies the method of machine learning to the concept of fuzzy logic. It is that the antecedent and consequent of classifier is same as a fuzzy rule. In this paper, the FCS is the Michigan style. A single fuzzy if-then rule is coded as an individual. The average gray levels which each group of neighbor pixels has are represented into fuzzy set. Then a pixel is decided whether it is edge pixel or not using fuzzy if-then rules. Depending on the average of gray levels, a number of fuzzy rules can be activated, and each rules makes the output. These outputs are aggregated and defuzzified to take new gray value of the pixel. To evaluate this edge detection, we will compare the new gray level of a pixel with gray level obtained by the other edge detection method such as Sobel edge detection. This comparison provides a reinforcement signal for FCS which is reinforcement learning. Also the FCS employs the Genetic Algorithms to make new rules and modify rules when performance of the system needs to be improved.
Naive Bayesian classifiers are a powerful and well-known type of classifiers that can be easily induced from a dataset of sample cases. However, the strong conditional independence assumptions can sometimes lead to weak classification performance. Normally, naive Bayesian classifiers use Gaussian distributions to handle continuous attributes and to represent the likelihood of the features conditioned on the classes. The probability density of attributes, however, is not always well fitted by a Gaussian distribution. Another eminent type of classifier is the neuro-fuzzy classifier, which can learn fuzzy rules and fuzzy sets using supervised learning. Since there are specific structural similarities between a neuro-fuzzy classifier and a naive Bayesian classifier, the purpose of this study is to apply learning distribution graphs constructed by a neuro-fuzzy network to naive Bayesian classifiers. We compare the Gaussian distribution graphs with the fuzzy distribution graphs for the naive Bayesian classifier. We applied these two types of distribution graphs to classify leukemia and colon DNA microarray data sets. The results demonstrate that a naive Bayesian classifier with fuzzy distribution graphs is more reliable than that with Gaussian distribution graphs.
This paper presents the neuro-fuzzy classifier derived from the generic model of a 3-layer fuzzy perceptron and developed the classification software based on the neuro-fuzzl model. Also, a comparison of the neuro-fuzzy and maximum-likelihood classifiers is presented in this paper. The Airborne Multispectral Scanner(AMS) imagery of Tae-Duk Science Complex Town were used for this comparison. The neuro-fuzzy classifier was more considerably accurate in the mixed composition area like "bare soil" , "dried grass" and "coniferous tree", however, the "cement road" and "asphalt road" classified more correctly with the maximum-likelihood classifier than the neuro-fuzzy classifier. Thus, the neuro-fuzzy model can be used to classify the mixed composition area like the natural environment of korea peninsula. From this research we conclude that the neuro-fuzzy classifier was superior in suppression of mixed pixel classification errors, and more robust to training site heterogeneity and the use of class labels for land use that are mixtures of land cover signatures.

This paper presents a method for combining classifier which is constructed by fuzzy and neural network classifiers and uses classifier fusion algorithms and selection algorithms. The input space of combing classifier is divided by the extended hyperbox region proposed in this paper to guarantee non-overlapped data property. To fuse the fuzzy classifier and the neural network classifier, we propose the fusion parameter for the overlapped data. In addition, the adaptive learning algorithm also proposed to maximize classifier performance. Finally, simulation examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the method.

In this paper, we propose a TSK-type fuzzy classifier using PCA(Principal Component Analysis), FCM(Fuzzy C-Means) clustering and hybrid GA(genetic algorithm). First, input data is transformed to reduce correlation among the data components by PCA. FCM clustering is applied to obtain a initial TSK-type fuzzy classifier. Parameter identification is performed by AGA(Adaptive Genetic Algorithm) and RLSE(Recursive Least Square Estimate). we applied the proposed method to Iris data classification problems and obtained a better performance than previous works.

To improve fault isolation performance of the Bayes isolator, this paper proposes the Fuzzy-Bayes isolator, which uses the Fuzzy-Bayes classifier as a fault isolator. The Fuzzy-Bayes classifier is composed of the Bayes classifier and weighting factor, which is determined by fuzzy inference logic. The Mahalanobis distance derivative is mapped to the weighting factor by fuzzy inference logic. The Fuzzy-Bayes fault isolator is designed for the BLDC motor fault diagnosis system. Fault isolation performance is evaluated by the experiments. The research results indicate that the Fuzzy-Bayes fault isolator improves fault isolation performance and that it can reduce the transition region chattering that is occurred when the fault is injected. In the experiment, chattering is reduced by about half that of the Bayes classifier's.
