The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary school teachers' perceptions of the implementation of mathematical connections. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with teachers in a random sample across the country, and questionnaires completed by 567 teachers from 28 elementary schools were analyzed. The results of this study showed that teachers recognized intellectual connections more than social connections as mathematical connections need to be done in class. They recognized that connections between mathematical concepts and real-life in intellectual connections were realized more frequently in mathematics classes. In the methods of mathematical connections, the use of reasoning and reflection of students' activity results did not occur frequently. For resources many teachers wanted practice giving real lessons. On the basis of these results, this paper provides several implications for future research on implementing mathematical connections.
This study aims to investigate the effect of a scientific inquiry worksheet-making class program on pre-service elementary school teachers' attitudes toward science and scientific inquiry in the class of elementary school science educational theory at education university. As for research subjects, this study selected 141 pre-service elementary school teachers who were in the third year of education university. The results of this study can be summarized as below. First, it was found that the scientific inquiry worksheet-making class program improved pre-service elementary school teachers' attitudes toward science and helped them realize it important to have knowledge about science, further making them find it more enjoyable to teach science at school in the future. Second, it was found that the scientific inquiry worksheet-making class program had positive effect on pre-service elementary school teachers' attitudes toward scientific inquiry. In other words, they came to think of inquiry-based learning styles as an important course of science class. Third, as a result of carrying out open-ended questions about what would be helpful in an actual education site through the scientific inquiry worksheet-making class program, this study found out that most of the research subjects responded it would be helpful when applying a class model, and thought it would be helpful for elementary school students to have scientific knowledge and understand the process of inquiry.
The purpose of this study is to investigate elementary school teachers' awareness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and find out how to apply it in elementary science education. The survey was conducted online and involved 95 teachers working in the metropolitan area. The results of this study are as follows. First, teachers need to learn about the general characteristics of AI and how to apply it to education. Second, science classes had the highest preference for AI among elementary school subjects. Third, the preference for AI application by elementary science field was 68.4% for earth and space, 54.7% for exercise and energy, 32.6% for matter, 27.4% for life. Fourth, AI-based Science Education (AISE) teaching- learning strategies were developed based on AI characteristics and the changing perspective of elementary science education, AISE's teaching-learning strategies are five: 'automation', 'individualization', 'diversification', 'cooperation' and 'creativity' and teachers can use them in teaching design, class practice and evaluation stages. Finally, the creative problem-solving Doing Thinking Making Sharing (DTMS) model was devised to implement the creativity strategy in AISE. This model consists of four-steps teaching courses: Doing, Thinking, Making and Sharing based on the empirical learning theory. In the future, follow-up research is needed to verify the effectiveness of this model by applying it to elementary science education.

The purpose of this study was to survey teachers' perception of classroom space utilization through analyzing the physical environment of elementary school classrooms (56 classrooms in 10 schools). Most of the teachers arranged desks in the two person parallel type (sectional layout : standard type) for their classes. Although the number was small, some classrooms used the T type, H type, U type, group type, and the teachers of such cases used these layouts for children's play activities or group learning. Some teachers changed the desk layout depending on the contents of learning or for different atmosphere of class, but about 40% of the teachers used the same classroom layout without any change during a semester. When the teachers' perception of classroom space utilization was examined according to the type and change of desk layout, the quantity and characteristics of posts, the position of posting spaces, and the size of activity spaces in the classroom, most of the teachers tended to be conventional without any characteristic, and only 16% of them were relatively active in utilizing classroom spaces. In addition, teachers of a relatively small class were more active in utilizing classroom spaces. In particular, perception was very low to utilize the classroom as a space for children's life or play activities or various types of learning. These findings suggest that it is necessary to improve teachers' perception of classroom space utilization in the future.

This paper is a series of study for the development of rural elementary school facilities model applying to the regional characteristics. Therefore, main theme of this paper is to pile up and analysis of elementary school facilities data in Po Cheon through a series of actual survey and interview with teachers. The results are summarized as follows ; First of all, in case of Po Cheon, it needs to study for urban model type as well as rural elementary school facilities model type. Second, extension type of buildings has separated as three types-zigzag extension type, vertical & horizontal extension type, separate building type. But another characteristics, such as type of site plan, type of corridor and module of classroom unit, outdoor space and elevation design, are monotonous. Third. the results of this analysis show that it is desirable to locate houses for teachers within boundaries. Finally, the future paper needs to be studying more various module of classroom unit, extension type, space program, type of floor plan and site plan.

This paper analyzes the level of satisfaction of two groups of teachers who were educated about artificial intelligence using App Inventor. The participants were 13 pre-service and 9 in-service elementary school teachers and the data was collected using a questionnaire. As a result of the study, in-service teachers were all more satisfied than pre-service teachers in terms of interest, difficulty, and participation in the education. In addition, the questions investigating whether education helped motivate learning of artificial intelligence and whether there is a willingness to apply it to elementary classes in the future were also more positive for in-service teachers than for pre-service teachers. In general, pre-service teachers had somewhat more negative views than in-service teachers, but they were more positive than in-service teachers in terms of whether the education helped improve their understanding of artificial intelligence and whether they were willing to participate in additional education. Analysis of the Mann-Whitney test to see if there was a significant difference in satisfaction between the two groups showed no significance. This may be because most of the students in the two groups already had block-type or text-type programming experience, so they were able to participate in the education without any special resistance or difficulty with App Inventor, resulting in high levels of satisfaction from both groups. The results of this study can provide basic data for the future development and operation of programs for artificial intelligence education for both pre-service and in-service elementary school teachers.
Recently, in school mathematics, classes using mathematical modeling are attracting attention to improve students' mathematical problem-solving skills. However, existing preceding studies have been conducted mainly on elementary, middle, and high school or in-service teachers, so it may be limited to apply the contents and results of the research as it is to pre-service teachers, who are future professors. Therefore, this study examined the school days' experiences of mathematical modeling for pre-service elementary school teachers. In addition, in order to provide a positive experience for mathematical modeling, mathematical modeling problem creation activities were conducted through group activities, and the results and their perceptions were examined. As a result of the study, elementary school preservice teachers had very little experience with mathematical modeling activities during their elementary, middle, and high school days. It was found that there is a deficiency in creating an appropriate mathematical modeling problem suitable for the level of elementary school students. In addition, it was found that they had a positive perception of mathematical modeling after participating in the study. Based on these results, implications for the training process for preservice teachers were suggested.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the needs of educators, learners and parents in elementary schools for implementing a systematic nutrition education program by nutrition teachers to begin in 2006. The subjects were 833 dietitians, 808 principals, 3,141 teachers, 7,577 students and 6,003 parents in elementary schools. A fairly large proportion of the principals (98.4%), teachers (95.5%), parents (96.6%) and students (62.8%) responded that nutrition education is urgently needed. Every dietitian, principal and teacher has recognized that for the enforcement of a nutrition program in the future, the placement of one nutrition teacher in every school is needed without a moment's delay. Many subjects responded that elementary low grades are the most proper time for nutrition education for students and it is also needed to extend this not only to students, but also parents and teachers who have a direct influence on them. In the education hour, they responded that it is proper one hour a month for teachers and one hour a week for students. Fifty-six percent of dietitians, 58.3% of principals and 67.0% of teachers responded that the best educational way to heighten the effect of nutrition education was education through discretional activities. It was found that 46.4% of students have wanted nutrition education to be enforced during special activities. Education through their school homepage or in-school broadcasting system, while it has been most utilized, was low in a degree of preference with 10.9%. In regards to a nutrition program, principals and parents have attached much importance to the dining etiquette, dietary attitudes, and relations of foodstuffs with health, while dietitians and teachers have made much of a balanced eating habit, and the relations of dietary life with health. Finally, for a nutrition program to be enforced towards a direction that the educators and students want, it is judged that first of all the role of nutrition teachers is the most important, furthermore the support of manpower and the budget should be made.
Purpose: This study aimed to provide basic data for future infectious disease prevention educational programs targeting preschoolers by verifying the effects of the 2023 Home-visiting Infectious Disease Prevention Class Project for Preschoolers. Methods: The study is a descriptive survey that analyzed educational satisfaction of kindergarten teachers and the activity reports of visiting teachers. The effectiveness of the education on the children's side was evaluated with a quasi-experimental approach using pre- and post-test design. Data collection was conducted from September 6 to November 10, 2023. The data from 96 kindergarten teachers, 100 activity reports written by visiting teachers, 56 children in the experimental group, and 50 children in the control group were analyzed. Results: As a result of analyzing the satisfaction survey results of the kindergarten teachers and the activity reports submitted by the visiting teachers, all questions received a very positive evaluation with 4 or more out of 5 points. In addition, the children in the experimental group showed statistically significant positive changes both in hand-washing accuracy and their awareness of immunity. Conclusion: The Home-visiting Infectious Disease Prevention Class Project for Preschoolers is of great educational significance and is expected to be a useful educational intervention that can improve infection prevention behaviors and show practical preventive effects in preschoolers so that they can be prepared for various infectious diseases in the future.
At the point when textbooks based on storytelling have been used in math classes for elementary first and second grades, this research analyzed any changes in perspectives of in-service teachers towards storytelling education, to promote further application for teaching and learning math by storytelling in the future. 30 in service teachers who have used math textbooks based on storytelling were surveyed in March and in July, 2013. For the better understanding of the survey results, four of the subjects were selected and interviewed. Consequently, teachers' perspectives towards the appropriateness and efficiency of the storytelling education did not change significantly. It also suggested that the most suitable area for storytelling is measurement, the least suitable area is geometry, and storytelling by real-life applications is effective in teaching elementary math.
