Calibration of ShadowCam

  • ShadowCam is a high-sensitivity, high-resolution imager provided by NASA for the Danuri (KPLO) lunar mission. ShadowCam calibration shows that it is well suited for its purpose, to image permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) that occur near the lunar poles. It is 205 times as sensitive as the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) Narrow Angle Camera (NAC). The signal to noise ratio (SNR) is greater than 100 over a large part of the dynamic range, and the top of the dynamic range is high enough to accommodate most brighter PSR pixels. The optical performance is good enough to take full advantage of the 1.7 meter/pixel image scale, and calibrated images have uniform response. We describe some instrument artifacts that are amenable to future corrections, making it possible to improve performance further. Stray light control is very challenging for this mission. In many cases, ShadowCam can image shadowed areas with directly illuminated terrain in or near the field of view (FOV). We include thorough qualitative descriptions of circumstances under which lunar brightness levels far higher than the top of the dynamic range cause detector or stray light artifacts and the size and extent of the artifact signal under those circumstances.

  • Spectraplakins are crucially important communicators, linking cytoskeletal components to each other and cellular junctions. Microtubule actin crosslinking factor 1 (MACF1), also known as actin crosslinking family 7 (ACF7), is a member of the spectraplakin family. It is expressed in numerous tissues and cells as one extensively studied spectraplakin. MACF1 has several isoforms with unique structures and well-known function to be able to crosslink F-actin and microtubules. MACF1 is one versatile spectraplakin with various functions in cell processes, embryo development, tissue-specific functions, and human diseases. The importance of MACF1 has become more apparent in recent years. Here, we summarize the current knowledge on the presence and function of MACF1 and provide perspectives on future research of MACF1 based on our studies and others. [BMB Reports 2016; 49(1): 37-44]

일본 초등학교 공간구성에 대한 건축계획적 연구 - 설계개념 및 평면 분석을 통하여 - (A Study on the Space Organization of the Elementary School in Japan - Analyzing on the Concepts and Plan of Schools that Awarded as Excellent Facilities -)

  • In general, It is known that there are important concepts related with organization space of the elementary school in Japan. They are correspondence to various educational method, consideration of children's activity, consideration about use of the local residents, application of the concepts of house design, and introduction of the ecological concept and technology. But there is little report written concretely how to plan and design for above mentioned concepts and it is realty necessary to investigate about these for the future image of elementary school in Korea. For this purpose, we investigated by analyzing the plan, and the design explanation of the 84 excellent public elementary schools awarded by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology from 1988 to 2005 in Japan. As a result, we have found many examples about various spaces, methods and ideas to plan a school that is specialized and fit for a local peculiarity and user(children and local residents). The diversity of educational method and ecological concepts correspond to direction of future's society.

학교교육공간 혁신을 위한 교육기획 절차 모형 탐색 - 교육분야 사용자 참여 설계 사례를 중심으로 - (Exploratory Study on the Educational Planning Process Model for School Space Innovation - Focusing on User Participatory Design Practices -)

  • 본 연구는 미래형 교육과정을 수립하고, 미래형 교육과정과 연계하여 교육공간 혁신을 이루기 위한 방법으로 사용자 참여 설계 방법에 기반한 교육기획 절차 모형을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 교육공간 혁신, 교육기획 절차, 사용자 참여 설계와 관련된 선행연구 및 실천사례를 검토하고, 그 결과를 토대로 교육기획 절차 모형의 초안을 마련하였다. 이를 초등학교 1개교의 개축 프로젝트의 교육기획 과정에 적용하고, 그 과정에서 발생하는 문제점에 대해 비판적으로 성찰하여 그 결과를 모형의 개선에 반영하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 최종적으로 도출된 '사용자 참여 설계에 기반한 교육기획 절차 모형'은 총 4단계로 구성된다. 1단계는 사용자 참여를 위한 초기 탐색 단계로, 교육기획가와 사용자가 미래교육을 위한 공유된 관점을 형성하고, 교육기획가는 학교에 대한 충분한 정보를 수집하는데 초점을 둔다. 2단계는 미래교육으로 전환을 위한 구성원간 합의를 도출하는 단계로, 학교수준 교육과정에 대한 전반적인 방향성을 큰 틀에서 설정하고 중점 교육프로그램에 대한 아이디어 발산을 시작하는 데 초점을 둔다. 3단계는 미래학교 운영방향을 결정하는 단계로, 학교의 교육 비전 및 목표를 설정하고, 교수학습의 방향을 결정하며, 특색 교육공간에 대한 요구를 도출한다. 4단계는 교육기획을 마무리하는 단계이자 공간기획을 시작하는 단계로 기능할 수 있도록, 교육기획가와 공간기획가 간의 긴밀한 상호작용에 초점을 둔다. 마지막으로, 이러한 교육기획 절차의 이점과 제한점에 관해 논의하였다.

한국 치의 공간구성의 변화에 관한 연구 - 서울시 소재 치과대학/치의학대학원과 치과병원 분석을 중심으로 (A Study on the Change of Space Configuration of Dentistry in Korea - Focused on the Analysis of School of Dentistry and Dental Hospital located in Seoul)

  • Purpose: The analysis of space configuration of dentistry through examining Korean dental history and comparison are necessary for the development of planning of the dental healthcare system. This study has been started in order to provide basic information for the planning of hospital architecture in dentistry. Methods: Literature review of space configuration and historical background in dentistry have been conducted. The changes of site plan and space configuration of Seoul National University, Yonsei University and Kyunghee University, School of Dentistry and Dental Hospital have been analyzed in dental history of Korea and corresponding spaces. Results: The result of this study can be summarized in three points. The first one is that space configuration of dentistry in Korea is different from that of West. The clinical treatment space had been started first and the education and research space was followed after a short interval. The second one is that the space configuration in School of Dentistry and Dental Hospital shows that dental space had differentiated and specialized to dental education and clinical space in a building. It had spatially divided and separated to the education and research complex and the dental hospital and it had a branch building. The third one is that the dental public health in Korea has not been actively applied until recently and it should be developed in a near future. Implications: It is necessary to analyze space configuration of other dental schools and their hospitals to develop the relationship between space and program in healthcare system.

교육과정을 반영한 학교 건축의 공간 구성에 관한 연구 - C 학교 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Spatial System of School Concentrated for the Curriculum - Focused on the case of C Elementary School -)

  • This thesis aims to explore and suggest the concept of future schools that integrate school construction and design with curriculums in a consistent manner. To this end, a case study was conducted on the design planning process of C elementary school for 10 months from October 2013 to July 2014. Regarding the method of study, the aerial view and floor plan, which were created after much deliberation by various experts in curriculum and construction as well as school administrators and the management, were analyzed from the perspective of curriculums. This study hopes to lay out directions on how to create the school space in the future so that school education not only focuses on delivering knowledge and caring for students but also takes into account the environmental factors surrounding students - or the aspect of "spatial interaction."

초등학교 교사의 미래학교에 대한 공간 요구 탐색 연구 - 서울 공립 A초등학교를 중심으로 - (A Study on Elementary School Teachers' Needs for Future School Spaces - With a Focus on A Public Elementary School in Seoul -)

  • 본 연구는 미래학교 공간에 대한 교사의 요구를 탐색하여 향후 미래학교를 위한 사회적 합의에 교사의 목소리가 담길 수 있는 시사점을 제공하고자 수행되었다. 현장의 생생한 목소리를 전달하고자 질적 연구를 진행하였고 A초등학교(가명) 교사 10명이 연구에 참여하였다. 연구결과, 1) 시·공간을 초월한 학습의 등장 인식 및 이를 뒷받침할 수 있는 ICT 기반의 정보화 환경의 중요성, 2) '전통성'과 '테크놀로지'를 중심에 둔 미래형 학교 공간의 특성 확인, 3) 학습 커뮤니티 공간의 중요성 인식, 4) 유연한 교수학습활동을 위한 '가변성' 있는 학급교실 강조, 5) 첨단기술 기반 학습환경에서 취약할 수 있는 감성 지원을 위한 자연 친화적인 요소의 도입 필요성을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 교사들에게 '친환경성'이나 '지역사회 연계'와 같은 중요한 미래학교 관련 담론을 충분히 담은 체계적인 교육 및 경험의 기회가 필요하다는 제언을 하며 연구를 마무리하였다.

유비쿼터스 환경의 교실 공간 계획에 관한 기초적 연구 (A Fundamental Study on the Planning of Classroom Space in the Ubiquitous Environments)

  • In 21st century, mankind greets an era of ubiquitous computing where physical and virtual space are merged through the innovation of digital and IT(Information Technology), meanwhile ubiquitous computing and network paradigm suggest a new direction which our future educational system should head for. A society where people, computers, and objects can be connected with each other anytime and anywhere, that is, a society of ubiquitous computing where everything in our living space are interconnected by a immense network system may bring a variety of changes into our educational environment in schools. In this study I analysed the forecast of school educational orientation and ubiquitous educational environment and facilities in developed countries, and on the basis of the result, I performed a fundamental work for formation of a ubiquitous classroom environment which is feasible in Korea. In the section of conclusion, I present a model of ubiquitous classroom as a scenario based on ubiquitous computing technology applicable to future classroom environment.

  • 미래 지식기반 사회에 필요한 합리적이고, 창의적인 인재를 육성하기 위하여 학생들은 상상력과 창의력이 필요하고, 교사들이 이를 실용적으로 지도할 수 있는 분야가 수리과학이다. 학생들에게는 새로운 현상에 대한 호기심과 집중력, 문제해결을 통한 연구와 독창성을 기르는 활동이 필요한데, 4D-프레임을 이용하여 공간도형을 활용한 갖가지 모형 만들기를 통해 상상력과 창의력을 향상시키고자 하였다. 이러한 활동은 학생들의 수학에 대한 정의적 측면의 긍정적 효과뿐만 아니라 건축 및 우주 과학자의 소양을 담은 담화를 생성할 수 있었다.
