  • 다양한 분야에서 시도된 문화 교류 중, 가장 성공적인 혼합은 바로 음식문화의 결합으로 동서양의 맛을 혼합한 Fusion 음식이라고 할 수 있다. Fusion 음식은 세계적인 추세를 보더라도 국내에서 잠시 유행하다가 사라져버릴 장르의 요리는 결코 아니며, 오히려 더욱 다양한 형태의 Fusion 음식을 표방하는 레스토랑들이 생겨날 것이다. Fusion음식이 국적 없는 음식으로서 전통의 맛을 죽인다는 비판도 있지만, 올바른 Fusion 음식은 그저 무국적 음식이 아니라 오히려 전통의 맛을 이어가면서 발전시키는 다음 단계로 보는 것이 정확 할 것이다. Fusion 음식은 결국 여러 나라의 식문화를 합친 결과로, 각 나라의 기본적인 식문화에 바탕을 둔 조리기법이다. 다시 말해서 Fusion 음식의 뿌리는 수백 수 천년을 거슬러 올라가 각 나라의 전통음식이라고 할 수 있으며 오히려 동.서양의 기본적인 조리기법을 완벽하게 숙달해야만 성공적인 Fusion 음식을 구연할수 있는 것이다. 국내에는 이러한 기본적인 원칙이 무시된 채 급하게 도입되면서 현재 다소 침체된 느낌이지만 이 같은 단계를 통하여 발전될 것이고, 이러한 바람직한 경쟁과 연구를 통해 선진국에 비해 현실적으로 현저하게 뒤떨어져 있는 한국의 식문화 수준도 높아질 것이다. 그러나 아무리 새로운 음식과 재료가 쏟아져 들어온다 하더라도 그것을 주체적으로 소화해낼 수 있는 문화적 잠재력이 없다면 "Fusion" 이 라는 것도 단지 한때 흘러가는 하나의 유행일 수밖에 없다. 따라서 한국적인 Fusion 요리의 개발을 통하여 외국인들에게 거부감 없이 쉽게 한국의 맛을 전하고 한국음식의 세계화를 보다 효과적으로 이룰 수 있어야 할 것이다. 특히 된장, 고추장, 김치 등 발효음식의 특성을 살린 Fusion 음식을 개발해 한식의 세계 상품화를 시도해야할 시점이다.

  • The purpose of this research is to bring supportive ways to reinforce the market competitiveness of fusion industry based on the rapidly arising fusion industries considering system improvement and fusion R&D support. The research has proceeded in the order of setup for competitiveness reinforcing way of fusion industry and deduction for competitiveness reinforcing way based on directivity. It classified the fusion industry into introduction, diffusion and development by time, and suggested expert fusion R&D, open type fusion R&D, customized fusion R&D, system improvement of market entrance and supportive way for public purchase as the supportive way. It's purpose is to lead the entrance into the new fusion market, stabilize to settle into the market and create high value products by resolving difficulties for the market entrance of the new fusion products & service, reinforcing the fusion capability and securing the competitive advantage.

  • What is 'fusion'\ulcorner And how should we accept it, which has been appeared before us with an irresistible force in the 21 century through the whole area of scientific branches\ulcorner And does it mean a mere physical 'mixture' or a chemical 'compound' among the fused parties\ulcorner And is it an impartial fusion among the parties or a partial Fusion absorbed by the stronger party\ulcorner We cannot give a right answer without full comprehension of the meaning and process of Fusion. In this respect, 1 would like to touch upon many of these matters on Fusion and stir a attention to the fact that our life quality must not be damaged by the sudden appearance of Fusion in this era. In the future, there will be a bigger Fusion in so many a field than now between the advanced and the underdeveloped countries of the world. Nevertheless, it doesn't always follow that Fusion gives us the best way of arriving to happy lives. There are still too many undesirable things in it. And then, I conclude that it is through the multidisciplinary research and its systematic analyses that we can solve many negative problems on Fusion.

  • This paper aimed to suggest a new model of fusion furniture design which fits with our surroundings of today. This was performed by grasp and evaluation of recent trend of fusion culture in Korea in order to apply it to the furniture design of fusion style. Fusion furniture design was tried and applied to the table showing unique characteristics of Korea traditional small dining table with modern touch. The result of this paper could also contribute to distribute the unique characteristics and beauty of Korean traditional furniture in the World.

Overexpression of the $E1_{192-283}$ and $E2_{384-649}$ Proteins of Hepatitis C Virus in GST Fusion Forms in E. coli and Their Immunogenicity (C 형 간염 바이러스의 외피당단백질 E1 및 E2의 융합단백질 $GST-E1_{192-283}$$-E2_{384-649}$의 대장균에서의 과량발현 및 면역원성 연구)

  • The truncated $E1_{192-283}$ and $E2_{384-649}$ genes of hepatitis C virus (HCV) linked to the gene for glutathione S-transferase (GST) were constructed and their expressions were analyzed. The $GST-E1_{192-283}$ fusion gene overexpressed the fusion protein in E. coli as a soluble form, while the $GST-E1_{192-383}$ plasmid did not express expected fusion protein. The purified $GST-E1_{192-283}$ fusion protein was efficiently cleaved by thrombin. More than 90% pure, HCV $E1_{192-283}$ protein was obtained by GST-agarose chromatography. The truncated $GST-E2_{384-649}$ fusion gene expressed the fusion protein mainly as an insoluble form, whereas the $GST-E2_{384-740}$ did not express the fusion protein. The truncated $GST-E1_{182-283}$ and $GST-E2_{384-649}$ fusion proteins reacted specifically with an HCV patient serum. In addition, mice immunized with either the purified $E1_{192-283}$ or $GST-E2_{384-649}$ proteins generated specific antibodies to each antigen. The results suggested that hydrophobic carboxyl portions of the E1 and E2 proteins might affect expression levels as well as the solubility of each fusion protein in bacteria. Also, the truncated E1 protein with Tyr-192 to Ser-283 contained antigenic epitope(s) which could be specifically recognized by an HCV patient serum.

  • This Impulse Voltage and Current Test System is designed for performing of impulse voltage tests with Lightning impulse voltage 1.2/50(LI) up to 1520kV peak value and switching impulse voltages 250/2500(SI) up to 1120kV peak valu acc. to IEC 60060-1, and furthermore for impulse current test, e.g. testing of arrester sections($U_{res}$=95kV)with current impulses 4/10 and 8/20 up to 70kA peak value.

  • A multi-megawatt long pulse ion source (LPIS) of neutral beam injector was developed for the KSTAR. Beam extraction experiments of the LPIS were carried out at the neutral beam test stand (NBTS). Design requirements for the ion source were 120 kV/65 A deuterium beam and a 300 s pulse length. A maximum ion density of $9.1310^{11}$ $cm^{-3}$ was measured by using electric probes, and an optimum arc efficiency of 0.46 A/kW was estimated with ion saturation current of the probes, arc power, and total beam area. An arcing problem, caused by the structural defect of decelerating grid supporter, in the third gap was solved by the blocking of backstream ion particles, originated from the plasma in the neutralizer duct, through the unnecessary spaces on the side of grid supporter. A maximum drain power of 1.5 MW (i.e. 70 kV/21 A) with hydrogen was measured for a pulse duration of 0.5 s. Optimum beam perveance was ranged from 0.75 to 0.85. An improved design of accelerator for the effective control of beam particle trajectory should provide higher beam perveance.

Temperature dependent electro-optical studies of liquid crystal in Fringe Field Switching (FFS), In-plane switching (IPS), and Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) modes

  • In this paper, electro-optical characteristic of Nematic Liquid crystal (LC) with varying temperature in different LCD modes, namely Fringe Field Switching (FFS), In-plane switching (IPS), and Patterned Vertical Alignment (PVA) modes are investigated and compared. Electro optic me asurements suggest that rate of change of transmission with temperature in FFS mode was lowest and much more thermally stable as compared to IPS and PVA m odes. However the electro-optical characteristic of patterned vertical alignment (PVA) mode was most affected by changing temperature. The measured threshold voltage was found to be much more thermally stable in FFS and IPS modes than that of PVA mode.

  • As the physical properties of nematic liquid crystals vary with respect to temperature, the performances of liquid crystal displays (LCDs) are highly dependent on temperature. Additionally, it is well known that the electro-optic characteristics of LCDs, such as transmittance and threshold voltage, also rely on the LCD switching modes. The temperature dependence of the electro-optic characteristics of the wide-viewing-angle LCD modes, such as in-plane switching (IPS), multidomain vertical alignment by patterned electrode (PVA), and fringe-field switching (FFS), have been studied, and the results showed that the FFS mode has lower temperature dependence compared to the IPS and PVA modes. Since the liquid crystal (LC) reorients in different ways in each mode, this result is associated with the temperature dependence of LC's bend and twist elastic constants, and also with the position of the main reorientation, either in the middle or on the surface of the LC layer.

The Study on the Humic Acid Removal using Underwater Plasma Discharge (수중 방전을 이용한 휴믹산 제거)

  • A flotation process has a shorter processing time and needs less space than a sedimentation process. Dissolved air flotation process (DAF) is an efficient flotation method and used in a conventional wastewater treatment process. However, DAF requires the circulation of water containing compressed air and requires expensive installation and operation cost. Plasma Air Flotation (PAF) process is able to float flocs by micro bubbles generated from underwater plasma without the circulation of bubbly water and additional saturators. Therefore, PAF can be an alternative solution overcoming economic barriers. In this study, Humic acid removal efficiency by PAF process was compared with that of sedimentation process. 44.67% and 87.3% reduction rate based on UV 254 absorbance has been measured in sedimentation and PAF respectively. In particular, PAF in the flocculation zone can dramatically remove humic acid from water. In flocculation zone, PAF can separate organic matters but sedimentation cannot.
