The Purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the urban home-maker's view of homemanagement and the domestic courtesy and ritual (wedding ceremany, ancestral service, funeral rites). The data for this study was obtained from the 661 homemakers who live in Seoul, Busan, Inchon etc. The data were analyzed by the method described below with SPSS Computer programs. Such methods as frequence, percentile, analysis of variance (t-test, one-way ANOVA), Pearson's correlation and Factor analysis, Multiple regression were used. The major results the study can be summaried as follows; 1) As the result of factor analysis about view of homemanagement, 10 factors (which Eigen Value was above 1.0) out of 28 guestions were extracted. 2) In general, it can be said that the urban Homemaker's View of homemanagement varies by age, level of education, religion. 3) The domestic courtesy and ritual (wedding ceremony, ancestral servic, funeral rites) varies by age, level of education, religion. 4) There is a positive relation in analyzing the correlation between the urban homemaker's view of homemanagement and domestic courtesy and ritual (wedding ceremony, ancestral service, funeral rites)(p<.001).
As new disasters such as COVID-19, MERS, and earthquakes appear in modern society, the nation's ability to manage uncertain risks is becoming more important. The government is promoting a disaster safety management policy closely related to daily life by reinforcing on-site response capabilities. Therefore, in order to respond more effectively to disasters that have recently been enlarged, complicated, and delocalized, there is a limit to only disaster-related organizations in the public sector. It is necessary to check it and find ways to develop it. In the event of an unpredictable national disaster or infection, the government needs disaster safety management measures closely related to daily life. Accordingly, as an efficient response and strategy such as procedures and methods for funeral support at the scene of a national disaster were needed, a designated funeral home was introduced. In the event of a major disaster, a large number of casualties that exceed the daily work level of the relevant department occur and rapid changes in relief, medical care, funeral and administrative procedures occur accordingly. The purpose of this study is to derive basic operating directions and prompt funeral support plans for funeral homes designated for national disaster preparedness.
This study focuses on the funeral rites for Queen Wongyeong during the early Joseon period as part of a review of the changes in the state funeral system and ceremonial procedures. Conducted by the king in his role as chief mourner, the state funeral for King Taejong's wife Queen Wongyeong that emerged during the 2nd year of King Sejong marked the first example recorded in the sillok (Annals of the Joseon Dynasty) of the three year-mourning rite being applied. In terms of the clothing for the state funeral, the significance of Jolgok (a rite conducted on the 100th day following the day of death) was emphasized, while the existing yeokwolje (period of wearing mourning clothes, one month was equated with one day) was abandoned. The existing temporary office system for state funerals was reorganized into a three-office system consisting of the Binjeon dogam (Office for Chapel of Rest), Gukjang dogam (Office for Funeral Rites), and Salleung dogam (Office for the Establishment of Royal Tombs). Buddhism-related rites greatly decreased and were increasingly regulated. The ceremonial procedures were also modified in accordance with the rites directly conducted by the king during the three-year mourning period. The basic pattern of the ceremonial procedure consisted of kneeling / wailing - salute - kneeling/ wailing, and, based on the wuje (rites to console the deceased), was divided into 'make offerings to the deceased' (奠, jeon) and 'hold a memorial service for the deceased' (祭, je). This reflected the differing perceptions of jeon (奠) and je (祭) following the establishment of auspicious rites (gillye) during the reign of King Taejong. In short, the state funeral for Queen Wongyeong provides materials with which to analyze the establishment of the funeral rites and ceremonial procedures designed based on the actual three-year mourning period observed by the king, study the ritual ceremonies conducted during the ancient period, as well as foster an understanding of ancient systems.

As of 2016, the cremation rates in the capital area are 91.2% in Incheon Metropolitan City, 87.5% in Seoul Special City, and 87.1% in Gyeonggi-do Province, of which Incheon has the highest rate, and cremation of general corpses through the online cremation reservation service of the funeral information system is continuously increasing every year. And as of 2017, the ratio of the cremation for those outside the jurisdiction (residents of other regions) among the users of public cremation establishment in Incheon, is about 32%. As the supply capacity is expected to reach the limit within several years due to the increase in demand for such a cremation facility, I would like to suggest a policy as follows. The expansion of cremation supply capacity by increasing the number of operations in the cremation furnace; The attractions of operating funds through contracts for joint use of the cremation facility with other local governments and investment funds for the expansion of cremation facilities; The plan for controlling the demand in cremation such as an increase in cremation charge for those outside the jurisdiction(residents of other regions), should be considered.
The system of washing and shrouding a dead body is a series of procedures for encoffining in funeral rites, which are taken after death indentification by using CHOKWANG and praying for the resurrection of a dead body by calling a soul departed from the body. The washing and shrouding a dead body (hereinafter reffered to as "YEOMSEUP") is the broad concept which contains the procedures of washing, clothing and shrouding the body. The clothing includes washing, putting rices into the mouth. and then dressing while the shrouding includes first wrapping, second-wrapping and encoffining. The clothes for YEOMSEUP (all clothes and articles for funeral rites are designated) will be put in the coffin along with a dead body according to the YEOMSEUP procedures. Dasan, a SILHAK scholar in the late Yi Dynasty, pointed out some problems of the funeral rites observed in those days. At the same time, he found that the problems had arisen from the misinterpretation of the original descriptions in Chinese characters. and had tried to correct them. The books written by Dasan basically emphasized his ideology reshaping the whole procedures by trimming and removing meaningless formalities which are too much luxurious and wasteful and making them as a part of the original principles of the funeral rites. His Intents are clearly shown in his wrings on practical ettiquttes, such as SANGRYESAJON and SANGUIJEOLYO. In its attempt, this study aims at reformulating the DASAN\\`s SANGRYESAJON in terms of YEOMSEUP methods. A lot of virtues of the Dasan, like WOOSU, SIMUI, DAEDAE, MO, SORYUMHYO and DAERYUMHYO could also be found accordingly. The merits and characteristic in funeral rites are an obedience in filial duty, the pursuit of frugality. and the efficiency of practical functions. It could be said that the resurvey of DASAN′s theory on YEOMSEUP procedures is a meaningful work today when the original meaning of funeral rites fades out. Furthermore, discussions of refined burial service and encouraging cremation designed to improve land use, which are widely spread among people, could weaken the basic philosophy of YEOMSEUP and more likely propagate the atmosphere of despising the dignity of human beings.
The development of online funeral services and social issues of eco-friendly funeral culture have raised awareness of the new need for online funeral culture. There have been several attempts to revitalize online funeral services in domestic institutions and companies, but the effect is weak. The purpose of this study is to propose a design that can improve the accessibility and usability of online memorial services by analyzing the usability problem factors through a First Time User Experience analysis of the online memorial platform. Therefore, in this study, in order to identify the problem factors of the online memorial platform, a literature review on the UX, OOBE, and FTUE theories was conducted. The subject of the study was the app 'Memorial'. Before analyzing the First-Time User-Experience, IA was compared and analyzed with other similar services to understand the characteristics of the UX service of the app 'Memorial', which is the subject of the study. In addition, tasks corresponding to the Unpack-Setup/Configure-First Use stage were performed on 10 subjects who had no experience using the online memorial platform. The experimental process was expressed as the UX Curve to identify factors that caused negative experiences. As a result, the major problem factors included unnecessary UI elements, the need for sensitive personal information at the membership stage, and lack of immersion in the service. The improvements included strengthening community functions to facilitate the sharing of emotions and promote smooth communication between users. We proposed UI/UX service developments that enhanced the app by incorporating these insights. In order to verify the effectiveness, serviceability, and value of the developed prototype, an interview with a expert was conducted. The interviewes consisted of three service design experts. This study was conducted to contribute to the quality improvement and activation of the recently emerging online funeral services. The study is significant as it aims to understand the current status of these services and identify the factors necessary to improve service accessibility and usability. Subsequent studies require in-depth user verification of how much the proposed improvement plan affects the actual user experience.
The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of the funeral culture industry suitable for the age of longevity and well-aging through a study on changes in the perception of funeral culture among the elderly. The survey of this paper was conducted by Gallup Korea, and the survey method was a 1:1 individual interview using a structured questionnaire. The survey was conducted from October 1 to October 25, 2021, targeting 127 elderly people over the age of 65 living in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do. The number of valid subjects was 110, and the sampling method used was allocation by sex/age/income level/religion. As a result of the study, as for the change in the perception of funeral culture among the elderly, women preferred cremation to men (p=0.034). It was investigated that the level of income (p=0.004) and religious status (p=0.020) had an effect on funerals while alive. According to the presence or absence of thoughts about death, there was a significant difference in the membership of the mutual aid product (p=0.008) and the intention to return to a religious organization (p=0.004) when a memorial service was held. The results of this study are expected to be usefully utilized in presenting the direction and policy of the funeral culture industry suitable for the age of well-aging in the future.

The analysis and comparison on the usage of public cremation facilities located in Seoul through online reservation service of ehaneul funeral information system by area from Jan. 1, 2011 to Dec. 31, 2017 showed that among 314,877 in the number of bodies using the facilities, 225,828 (or 71.7%) belonged to Seoul citizens and 89,049 (or 28.3%) belonged to people living in other area than Seoul, such as Goyang city, Gyeonggi-do and other local governments. Therefore, there appeared that the Seoul citizens could not get the timely cremation service but instead extended the funeral service to 4 to 5 days or had to go to the remote area for cremation. This trend gets severe every year. To solve these problems, it is recommended that Seoul city government makes effort of constructing or expanding the public cremation facilities in cooperation with other local government of the area whose residents show high rate of using Seoul public cremation facilities and that Seoul city government expands or builds its own public cremation facilities in mid- and long-term. In addition, the local government of other area around Seoul needs to expand their use rate of their own (4) public cremation facilities or raise the creation fee for the residents from other areas, thus trying to dispersing and controlling the demand for the cremation.

The main purpose of this project is to improve the funeral and grave culture which has brought about many social problems, and to fix the crematory culture as the future funeral ceremony in our country. In this study, we first investigated the actual condition of cremation culture. Second, we survey three representative crematorium as an object of study and investigated similar sample buildings in Japan, we analyzed the problem of existing crematorium. Finally, we arranged the basics to approach the space program and design criteria of this project. 1. The entrance of vehicles has been commonly concentrated to the opening time of crematorium. therefore, Peak time has come out as circulation of cremation and waiting time is increasing, also it is difficult to manage the congestion normally. 2. The whole problem of crematorium is poor environment, inferior buildings, noise, unsatisfactory ventilation and privacy, insufficient convenience facilities. 3. The user demand on the crematorium facilities is a private family room for waiting area, a farewell room for family members in a direct line, an outdoor rest area, and the various service facilities, and so on. 4. For improvement of the funeral and grave culture, it is necessary that crematorium is not a hatred facilities, as the conversion of consciousness, and to new shape of charnel as it wore family tomb.

Based on the results of the survey and analysis of this study, we suggested a plan to activate the use of Capital Area Public Charnel Facilities as follows. First, the elderly population in Korea increased from 11.9% in 2013 to 16.4% in 2020, and the number of deaths also increased from 266,257 in 2013 to 305,127 in 2020. The supply of Public Charnel Facilities should be expanded, reflecting the cremation demand in the future and condition for the supply and increasing demand of Public Charnel Facilities after cremation, due to an increase of 14.6%. Second, it is urgent to expand the supply because the available period of using Capital Area Public Charnel Facilities is a short period of at least one year up to five years. However, as it is difficult to build Public Charnel Facilities due to location conflicts with local residents, joint construction plans between local governments should be promoted along with renting Private Charnel Facilities. Third, the enshrinement number ratio of the Public Charnel Facilities to the total cremation number of Capital Area Public Cremation Facilities is 16.3%, which is low. Therefore, when building Public Charnel Facilities, improvement plans for the use of public funeral facilities, such as modernization and promotion of facility level, quality improvement of service level, and creation of a pleasant environment, should be actively promoted.
