Objectives : Despite the applicability of Korean Medicine(KM) treatments for facial asymmetry, no relevant study has been reported. In this case report, we report the effect and safety of KM treatments on facial asymmetry by mandibular lateral displacement. Methods : Three patients suffering from facial asymmetry received twelve KM treatment sessions composed of Motion Style Treatment(MST), Yinyang Balance Appliance(YBA) of Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy(FCST), and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization(IASTM). The photos of each patient were taken before and after the treatment. And four primary reference lines were assessed before and after the treatment. Results : All subjects were improved after KM treatments on photos. However, no statistical significance was observed. Conclusions : This case report is the first to introduce the effect of KM treatments on facial asymmetry. Further well-designed, randomized, placebo-controlled trials are needed to verify these results.

We investigated the potential of electromyography (EMG) for diagnosing imbalance in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) to apply functional cerebrospinal therapy (FCST). The electromyography signals were measured in the sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM) in patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) while a FCST specialist conducted a restricted cervical rotation test. In addition, we also observed the changes in the electromyography signals according to pre-treatment or treatment with a TMJ balancing appliance (TBA), a customized TMJ balancing appliance (CBA), or a CBA with one paper bar. The right SCMs of the two patients with right TMJ imbalance had high EMG signals in the right cervical rotation test, while the left SCMs showed low EMG signals in the left rotation. In addition, the high EMG signals in the right SCMs decreased when using the TBA or the CBA, but the EMG signals of the left SCMs showed low EMG values during the treatments. Furthermore, the EMG signals of the right SCMs rose again after artificial imbalance of the right TMJ by the CBA with one paper bar. This case report demonstrated the potential of EMG as an objective diagnostic method for FCST.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to report the effect of Postural Yinyang Correction of the Temporomandibular joint (Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy, FCST) for phantogeusia. Methods: A patient with phantogeusia was treated at the Department of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, Dong-Eui University Korean Medicine Hospital from Oct 10th, 2018 to Dec 4th, 2018. A patient received 24 times of FCST with Customized TMJ Balancing Intraoral Appliance, upper cervical manipulation. To estimate the efficacy, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Oral Health Impact Profile-14 (OHIP-14) and questionnaire. Results: The patient showed a certain degree of improvement in phantogeusia and other subject symtoms within 8 weeks. Adverse effects were not reported. Conclusions: These results showed that FCST using an Customized TMJ Balancing Intraoral Appliance, may be useful for reducing the symptoms of phantogeusia.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine whether Temporomandibular Joint Balance Appliance-Golf (TBA-G) can improve postural control ability of healthy adults. Methods: Twenty participants (10 male, 10 female) aged 20 to 39 years were involved. Postural control ability of all participants was assessed before and after applying TBA-G with Balance $Master^{(R)}$ system. Modified clinical test sensory interaction on balance (mCTSIB), unilateral stance, weight bearing and rhythmic weight shift were used to evaluate postural control ability. Results: After applying TBA-G, mCTSIB on a firm plate with eyes open increased from 0.2 to 0.23 (p<0.05) but directional control was improved in slow and moderate velocity of front/back rhythmic weight shift test (P<0.05). In two cases with postural imbalance, most of the postural control measures improved after applying TBA-G. Conclusions: The results suggest that TBA-G could improve balance control ability. A larger controlled trial is needed to determine more accurately the effect of TBA-G on balance control ability.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Postural Yinyang Correction of Temporomandibular Joint (Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy, FCST) on a patient with Osteoarthritis of the hip caused by Hip dysplasia and Lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods: A patient with Osteoarthritis of the hip caused by Hip dysplasia and Lumbar spinal stenosis was treated at Dept. of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, ○○ University Korean Medicine Hospital from Nov 8th, 2019 to Dec 6th, 2019 and received a Korean-Western medical treatment mainly managed with FCST. This study was measured with VAS (Visual Analogue Scale), ODI (Oswestry Disability Index) and questionnaire. Results: After treatment, the patient's pain was controlled and gait ability was improved, also VAS, ODI and questionnaire score were improved. Conclusions: Korean-Western Medical Treatment mainly managed with FCST may be helpful in controling pain with Osteoarthritis of the hip caused by Hip dysplasia and Lumbar spinal stenosis, but the further researches are needed.
