This study investigated the characteristics of ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel. We compared the characteristics used H-NMR spectrum, FT-IR spectrum, viscosity and surface tension between conventional diesel fuel and ultrasonic-energy-added diesel fuel. The result are obtained as follow : We knew that ultrasonic energy result to reduce BI and weaken viscosity and surface tension. Also, the ultrasonic energy caused to reduce aromatics Ha and increase Alkanes Hγ. The effect of ultrasonic-energy-added dieselfuel was principally caused by change of chemical structures and a physical characteristics.
Recently, study on the improvement of combustion performance for the diesel engine by using the impinging spray in the combustion chamber has been actively studied. The purpose of this study is to examine the variation of exhaust emission between the trial engine with impinging plate and the prototype engine in accordance with change of fuel injection timing and fuel injection pressure. The concentration of nitrogen oxide of trial engine decreased more than 50% compared to prototype engine. However, smoke of trial engine indicated very high concentration compared to prototype engine. The effect of fuel injection timing on the nitrogen oxide and smoke indicated different results, that is, the concentration of nitrogen oxide decreased as the degree of fuel injection start become slower, whereas the concentration of smoke decreased as the degree of fuel injection start become faster.
An experimental study was conducted to find the effect of DBD plasma on the flammability limits of inert-gas-diluted fuel. The results showed that the concentration of diluting nitrogen at flammability limit increased when nitrogen-diluted methane and propane were reformed by plasma, while it decreased when nitrogen-diluted ethylene was reformed by plasma. Gas chromatography results suggested that the fuel type dependence of flammability limits is due to the difference in the concentrations of hydrogen and hydrocarbon species in reformed fuel.

To investigate the relation of $NO_x$ emission and consumption rate in a direct injection diesel engine with a multihole nozzle under same fuel consumption and rpm, a naphthyl ethylenediaming method on NO, emission and Tektronix oscilloscop on the indicator diagrams have been used. Comparisons of the $NO_x$ emission and fuel consumption rate made on various conditions have led to the fllowing results. 1. The higher the injection pressure in the later injection time the lower $NO_x$ emission and the fuel consumption rate have been attained. 2. By the change of nozzle hole diameter under the same injection pressure, the $NO_x$ emission was much more lowered in the small diameter than large one, but fuel consumption rate was in inverse proption to the $NO_x$ emission. 3. The effect of injection spray angle, $\frac{1_n}{d_n}$ on $NO_x$ emission, fuel consumption rate under same injection time and injection pressure was neglectable.

One of the moot important constants to be Installed In COLSS, a monitoring system in CE typed reactors, is ROPM which would limit the operating space. This static ROPM was calculated from digital transient analysis assuming that every design basis transient was initiated from the most severe initial condition combination (LCO). Once It could be assured that core condition would not be located at none other than LCO, this static ROPM could be replaced with dynamic ROPM calculated at that condition and the dynamic ROPM would be definitely less than the static ROPM. In order to do, It must be required to calculate the transient discrete sensitivity parameters and parameters change distribution. The purpose of this report is just to propose the enlargement method for thermal margin.

The stringent emission regulation and future shortage of fossil fuel motivate the research of alternative powertrain. In this study, a system of proton exchange membrane fuel cell has been modeled to analyze the performance of the fuel cell system for automotive application. The model is composed of the fuel cell stack, air compressor, humidifier, and intercooler, and hydrogen supply which are implemented by using the Matlab/Simulink(R). Fuel cell stack model is empirical model but the water transport model is included so that the system performance can be predicted over various humidity conditions. On the other hand, the model of air compressor is composed of motor, static air compressor, and some manifolds so that the motor dynamics and manifold dynamics can be investigated. Since the model is concentrated on the strategic operation of compressor to reduce the power consumption, other balance of components (BOP) are modeled to be static components. Since the air compressor model is empirical model which is based on curve fitting of experiments, the stack model is validated with the commercial software and the experiments. The dynamics of air compressor is investigated over unit change of system load. The results shows that the power consumption of air compressor is about 12% to 25% of stack gross power and dynamic response should be reduced to optimize the system operation.
This study examined combustion characteristics by selecting the fuel which have a different physical properties compared to gasoline in order to examine the effects of vehicle performance and environment depending on the physical properties. The experiment examined the combustion characteristic in the optimum ignition timing according to the physical properties change and the lean burn by performing control about ignition timing and air-fuel ratio for each fuel, and it was also evaluated the exhaust gas according to the experiment. We used a single-cylinder engine for the experiment, and tested for gasoline properties change by selecting a fake fuel that beyond the fuel quality standards in 석대법. As a result, in the case of the selected fuel showed a difference in Octane and distillation characteristics, vapor pressure and it was also found to unstable combustion, and leads to a large amount of harmful exhaust gas.
The purpose of this paper is to derive fuel mix of electricity generating system with the lowest cost considering energy security and climate change mitigations as the target of energy policy. Energy Security Price Index(ESPI), based on the measure of market concentration in fossil fuel market and political risk of exporting countries, is chosen to assess the level of energy security. The methodology of Energy Conservation Supply Curve(CSC) is applied to fuel mix to meet the carbon emission mitigation through increasing the alternatives participation and introduction of new technologies. These also represent an improvement on the level of energy security, having the complementarity between two objectives. The alternative measure for improving energy security is exploration and production(E&P) of fossil fuel for energy sufficiency. Fuel mix of electricity generating system to achieve certain objectives in 2020 can be derived with the lowest cost considering energy security and carbon emission mitigations.
Gasoline that meets the quality standards is distributed in Korea. However, consumers who use toluene or solvent mixed with gasoline have appeared due to rising crude oil prices and for the purpose of tax evasion. Gasoline quality standard is enacted by the domestic and international research reference. A wrong fuel can influence automobile performance or environmental issue. Thus, empirical data from this issue is necessary. Therefore, this research observed catalyst influence by gasoline property change and inspect influence of environment. In this study, fuel property evaluation, lean-burn evaluation, and real vehicle exhaust emission test were performed. In the result of fuel property, the fuel "A" was measured to be up to 27% less octane than the normal gasoline and the distillation property was measured 24% higher than normal gasoline. In the test result of single cylinder engine lean-burn test, the fuels "A" and "B" show torque value 20% less than the normal gasoline. As a result of vehicle test using the catalyst, the fuel "A" was increased more than the normal gasoline with 83% THC, 1,806% CO and 128% NOx, and the fuel "B" was increased more than normal gasoline with 1.6% THC, 391% CO and 142% NOx.

This study the efficiency of greenhouse gas reduction of 'low carbon car collaboration fund' and its alternative 'control of average fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas', and 'improving driving behavior' were analyzed by using LEAP, long term energy analysis model. Total 4 scenarios were set, baseline scenario, without energy-saving activity, 'low carbon car collaboration fund' scenario, 'fuel efficiency improving scenario', and 'improving driving behavior' scenario. The contents of analysis were forecast of energy demand by scenario and application as well as reduction of greenhouse gas emission volume, and the period taken for analysis was every 1 year during 2015~2030. Baseline scenario, greenhouse gas emission volume in 2015 would be 7,935,697 M/T and 13,081,986 M/T in 2030, increased 64.8%. The analysis result was average annual increase rate of 3.4%. The expected average annual increase rate of other scenarios was, 'low carbon car collaboration fund' scenario 1.7%, 'fuel efficiency improving' scenario 3.0%. and 'improving driving behavior' scenario 3.4%. and these were each 1.7%, 0.3%. 0.3% reduce from baseline scenario. The largest reduction was 'low carbon car collaboration fund' scenario, and there after were 'fuel efficiency improving scenario', and 'improving driving behavior' scenario.
