  • Many large organizations that have allocated resources to Data Administration(DA) have DA-context meta data mining. Also meta data is an interesting topic in the data warehouse world. This conceptual view gradually cleared up, and recently we have been talking more confidently about the back-room and front-room meta data. We describe the processes and problems that characterize the general architecture of s meta data mining system to do improve management efficiency that require further research and development.

  • Genetic algorithms (GA) is a well known technique that is capable of handling multiobjective functions and discrete constraints in the process of numerical optimization. Together with the Pareto ranking scheme, more than one possible solution can be obtained despite the imposed constraints and multi-criteria design functions. In view of this unique capability, the design of the log-periodic dipole antenna array (LPDA) using this special feature is proposed in this paper. This method also provides gain, front-back level and S parameter design tradeoff for the LPDA design in broadband application at no extra computational cost.

  • The present pesticide application technology widely used with a power sprayer in Korea is assessed as the problem awaiting solution in the point of view of its ineffectiveness, inefficiency, and environmental contamination. As one approach to get rid of these problems, the boom spraying with ultra-low volume and precision application technology has been recommended. The study was undertaken to investigate plants damages incurred by the self-propelled boom-sprayer vehicle, to develop the design criteria of vehicle wheel, and to compare plant damages caused by the front wheel steering vehicle, the 4-wheel drive vehicle and the articulated vehicle, by the computer simulation. The experiment showed that the amount of damaged plants incurred by the self-propelled boom sprayer were about 0.29% in average in the field size of 100m$\times$50m(0.5ha), about 60~80% of which recovering while growing. The recommandable wheel size was analyzed to be 70~100cm in diameter, 8~15cm in width from the vehicle-plant-soil relationship. The simulation on damaged plants anticipated to be incurred by various steering vehicles showed that the smaller the turning radius, the lesser the damaged plants within its range of 3~5m. Average plant damage rate by the front wheel steering vehicle, the 4-wheel drive vehicle and articulated vehicle was relatively assessed to be 2 : 1.8 : 1.

  • This paper suggests a navigation information display system that is based on augmented reality technology. A navigator always has to confirm the information from marine electronic navigation devices and then compare it with the view of targets outside the windows. This "head down" posture causes discomfort and sometimes near accidents such as collisions or missing objects, because he or she cannot keep an eye on the front view of the windows. Augmented reality can display both virtual and real information in a single display. Therefore, we attempted to adapt AR technology to assist navigators. To analyze the outside view of the bridge window, various computer image processing techniques are required because the sea surface has many noises that disturb computer image processing for object detection, such as waves, wakes, light reflection, and so on. In this study, we investigated an analysis module to extract navigational information from images that are captured by a CCTV camera, and we validated our prototype.

  • In the field of Virtual Reality, many studies have been reported. Especially, there are many studies on generating virtual creatures on computer systems. In this paper we propose an algorithm to automatically generate 3D fish models from 2D images which are printed in illustrated books, pictures or handwritings. At first, 2D fish images are captured by means of image scanner. Next, the fish image is separated from background and segmented to several parts such as body, anal fin, dorsal fin, ectoral fin and ventral fin using the proposed method“Active Balloon model”. After that, users choose front view model and top view model among six samples, respectively. 3D model is automatically generated from separated body, fins and the above two view models. The number of patches is decreased without any influence on the accuracy of the generated 3D model to reduce the time cost when texture mapping is applied. Finally, we can get any kinds of 3D fish models.

  • Recently, development of technologies for autonomous vehicles has been actively carried out. This paper proposes a computer vision system to recognize lanes, crosswalks, and stop lines for autonomous vehicles. This vision system first recognizes lanes required for autonomous driving using the RANSAC algorithm and the Kalman filter, and changes the viewpoint from the perspective-angle view of the street to the top-view using the fact that the lanes are parallel. Then in the reconstructed top-view image this system recognizes a crosswalk based on its geometrical characteristics and searches for a stop line within a region of interest in front of the recognized crosswalk. Experimental results show excellent performance of the proposed vision system in recognizing lanes, crosswalks, and stop lines.

  • This paper suggests the navigation information display system which is based on augmented reality technology and especially focuses on image analysis technology. Navigator has to always confirm the information from marine electronic navigation devices and then they compare with the view of outside targets of the windows. During this 'head down' posture, they feel uncomfortable and sometimes it cause near-accidents such as collision or missing objects, because he or she cannot keep an eye on the front view of windows. Augmented reality can display both of information of virtual and real in a single display. Therefore we tried to adapt the AR technology to help navigators and have been studied and developed image pre-processing module as a previous research already. To analysis the outside view of the bridge window, we have extracted navigational information from the camera image by using image processing. This paper mainly describes about recognizing ship feature by haar-like feature and filtering region of interest area by AIS data, which are to improve accuracy of the image analysis.

  • Proximity sensors and rearview cameras for automobile safety are common, but many accidents are still occurring. Using the All Around View and object recognition algorithm to show the front, back, left, right and bottom of the vehicle, the sensor detects the presence of a living body when the vehicle starts or parks, and displays the outside of the vehicle on the screen. In addition, the object recognition algorithm is used to visualize the object by expressing the position of the object. In this way, we propose a strong safety system that can prevent human accidents caused by the vehicle by sensing, screen, and expression.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the design characteristics of the multi-leveled chest(jang) which was the main furniture of the master bedrom(anbang) in the Chosun Dynasty. The major findings and conclusions were: 1. The front view of the multi-leveled chest were composed of a protruded top panel(kaepan), drawers, folded doors, sectional panels(chwibyok kan and morum kan) and base stand(madae) in general. Variety in the front view found more frequently in single level chests than bi- or tir-level chests. 2. The overall dimensions of each type of chest increased with increase in number of levels, but the height of the sectional parts decreased. That is, the overall proportion of the single level chests were 10 : 9, bi-level chests were 5 : 6, and tri-level chests were 2 : 3. The proportion of 1 : 1, 4 : 5, 1 : 3, 1 : 4, 1 : 5 were found often in the sectional parts such as drawers, doors, chwibyok kans and morum kans. 3. In general, the surface treatments were subtle. Carved or inlayed ornamentation were seldom seen, and most chess were finished with clear lacquer to show the natural wood grain. There were no distinctive characteristics of surface ornamentation characteristic of any one type of chest. 4. The general patterns of the metal ornaments were spade(yowidu), round, bow, rectangular(yakgua), bat and flower shapes. The multi-level chests were decorated with more metal ornament types compared with the single-level chests. 5. In conclusion, there was more variety in all the design elements in the single level chests compared with the other types of chests. The bi-and tri-level chests were quite stylized in composition, size, proportion, surface treatment, and metal ornamentation.
