평판 후류가 원통 표면의 물질전달에 미치는 영향에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study on the effect of flat-plate wake on mass transfer about a cylinder in crossflow)

  • This study presents an experimental investigation of the effect of the wake on mass transfer about a circular cylinder in crossflow. The flat-plate wake was generated by merging two mirror images of turbulent boundary layers that were well developed along the both sides of flat plate with a sharp trailing edge. The velocity field was measured by a hot-wire system and the mass transfer rate by a naphthalene sublimation method. The mixing and developing stages of the wake were addressed to identify flow conditions. The mass transfer effects of different developing stages of the wake was discussed in detail. It is noted that a local maximum appears not at the front stagnation point but at a point a little downstream when the cylinder is located in the nearwake region and much more elevated mass transfer rate is obtained compared to effect of free-stream turbulence.

Swirl Effect on the Flame Propagation at Idle in a Spark Ignition Engine

  • The objectives of the study are to investigate the effect of swirl on the flame propagation and to propose a flame propagation model that predicts the behavior of the flame front in the presence of significant swirl flow field by analyzing flame images pictured with a high speed digital video at idle. The velocity distribution of the charge in the cylinder was measured using an LDV measurement system. From the experimental results and analyses, a new flame propagation model is proposed in which flame frontal locations can be traced by superposing the convective flow field and the uniform expansion speed of the burned gas, and the proposed model reveals that the increase of the flame propagation speed on the presence of swirl motion within 1 ms after ignition is mainly due to the flame stretch, and mainly due to increased turbulence intensity later than 1 ms after ignition.

터널 화재시 터널 단면의 종횡비에 따른 연기 거동에 관한 (An Experimental Study of Smoke Movement in Tunnel Fires with Aspect Ratio of Tunnel Cross Section)

  • In this study, smoke movement in tunnel fires was investigated with various aspect ratio(0.5, 0.667, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) of tunnel cross section. Reduced-scale experiments were carried out under the Froude scaling using 8.27 kW ethanol pool fire. Temperatures were measured under the ceiling and vertical direction along the center of the tunnel. Smoke front velocity and temperature decrease rate were reduced as higher aspect ratio of the tunnel cross-section. Smoke movement was evaluated by analysis of vertical temperature distribution 3 m downstream from the fire source. Elevation of smoke interface according to N percent rule was under about 60% of tunnel height.

  • Numerical analysis has been conducted for improving air flow characteristics in the exhaust aftertreatment system of diesel-fueled passenger cars by changing axial length and cone shape of a DPF diffuser. The results of air velocity and static pressure distributions along with air flow uniformity results suggest that a diffuser shape with 2D or 3D function type is better for air flow patterns in front of a DPF.

  • New design of catalytic converter is proposed by optimization of DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) and DOE (Design Of Experiment) method which is based on taguchi matrix. As a result of the optimization of design of catalytic converter, this paper classifies Exhaust-downpipe shapes with 3 parameters to increase flow velocity uniformity of front catalytic substrate face from CFD results. after finishing with L9 Taguchi test matrix, it can be found the main effect of each design parameter of concept model, and optimal design level. in conclusion, it can be increase flow uniformity from 0.60 upto 0.80 with optimal diffuser shape for Turbo-charger.

  • Recently, it is concentrated on productivity improvement in high speed operation by converting industries. Register error is becoming the one of the most issued problem. Moreover register control is the key to product flexible displays through roll-to-roll systems. This paper presents a derivation of register error modeling. And the dynamics of register error is simulated under various conditions. Register error is affected by both roll velocity and tension between the front and back span. And dynamics of register error is to be an interaction in succeeding spans.

  • Wind speed is measured on the nacelle at the location of wind turbines are installed. The wind speed is transformed to inlet wind speed at the front of hub using newly developed algorithm derived from energy conservation. Wind energy potential is analyzed using the inlet air velocity in the region of Bieung-do wind farm. As results, wind speed depending on the month, yearly averaged wind speed, wind speed distribution, and energy density are showed in this study. Bieung-do area is close to Saemankeum, and the analysis of wind energy potential in Bieung area will be helpful to understand and develop wind energy industry in Saemankeum area.

  • For the three decades, the mold-filling of injection molding process was modeled as Hele-Shaw model. However, this model can not consider the 3D effect. In this paper, numerical simulations of three dimensional mold-filling during the filling phase were performed. The governing equations were discretized by segregated finite element method, which used equal order interpolation for pressure and velocity fields. The iterative linear equation solver (JCG, SOR) was employed for the solution of the momentum and pressure equations. Volume of Fluid (VOF) was employed for the melt front advancement. To check the validity of the numerical results, the results were compared with the experimental ones. The agreements between the experiment and the numerical results were found to be satisfactory.

  • 결정질 실리콘 웨이퍼의 전면 재결합 속도, 비저항은 태양전지 특성에 영향을 끼치는 중요한 요소이다. 태양전지의 최종목표인 효율에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위해 패시베이션 처리된 n-형 웨이퍼를 사용한 태양전지에서 웨이퍼의 비저항과 전면 재결합 속도를 조절하였고 그에 따른 변환 효율과 기본 파라미터 값의 변화를 확인하였다. PC1D를 사용하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며 이론적으로 비저항 = $0.06557{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$, 전면 재결합 속도 = 100cm/s에서 18.46%의 효율을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • We simulated the performance improvement of a wind turbine installed on the pitched roof-building(apartment in urban area, 50m height). A nozzle shape wind guide is added on the roof of a model apartment. The nozzle-diifuser structure effects for the free stream wind (average 4m/s, 50m height in Incheon) is studied by a basic CFD analysis. This paper examines the effects of roof structure on the wind velocity and the wind distortion effects by a front building. The possible wind power generation capacity on building roof in urban is calculated.
